The Koenigsegg Agera R is a rare, mid-engine hypercar built from 2011 to 2014 in 18 examples, according to Koenigsegg. Its headline output depends on fuel: the company lists up to 1,140 hp on E85/E100, versus 960 hp on 95-octane gasoline. The available price evidence is one historical auction sale—not a current market range.
What is the Koenigsegg Agera R?
The Agera R is a flex-fuel version of Koenigsegg’s Agera, developed around a twin-turbocharged V8 and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Koenigsegg says 18 were produced between 2011 and 2014. It is distinct from the later Agera RS and the limited Agera RSR; specifications or prices for those cars should not be attributed to the R.
The R’s defining technical distinction is its fuel-flexible engine management. Koenigsegg describes it as able to operate on fuel from 95-octane gasoline to E100 biofuel, including blends in between. The company’s model information gives different output figures depending on fuel. Koenigsegg Agera R model page
How much power does the Agera R make?
Koenigsegg’s claimed output is 1,140 hp and 1,200 Nm on E85 or E100, and 960 hp and 1,100 Nm on 95-octane gasoline. The higher figure is not a fuel-independent rating: the engine management adjusts for the fuel blend. Koenigsegg also says the Agera S addressed markets where the biofuels needed for maximum Agera R output were unavailable.

Chassis, suspension, brakes, and tires
Koenigsegg specifies a carbon-fiber chassis with aluminum honeycomb and integrated fuel tanks. The equipment list includes double-wishbone suspension, adjustable Öhlins dampers, ceramic brakes, a configurable rear wing, and a detachable hardtop that can be stowed. Factory tire sizes are dedicated Michelin Supersport: 265/35-19 at the front and 345/30-20 at the rear. These are factory specifications, not a description of a particular surviving car’s present setup.
How much does a Koenigsegg Agera R cost?
RM Sotheby’s records a 2014 Agera R sold for $1,356,250 USD at its Abu Dhabi auction in 2019. That is the result for one specific car at one dated sale; it is neither an original MSRP nor a current asking-price quote or universal valuation. The available evidence does not establish a reliable current Agera R price range. RM Sotheby’s 2014 Koenigsegg Agera R result

A separate result for a 2016 Agera RSR concerns a different, later variant and is not a sound substitute for an Agera R comparable. For a specific car, provenance, condition, specification, and the sale date matter; the single cited transaction cannot establish how those factors affect today’s value.

Koenigsegg’s Agera model page includes manufacturer imagery, including Agera R imagery. Before reusing a photo, confirm the pictured car is actually identified as an Agera R and obtain permission or verify the applicable image license. A general Agera image should not be labeled as an R unless the model identity is established. Koenigsegg Agera model page
How to read Agera R performance claims
The published figures make the Agera R’s capability legible on paper, but they are manufacturer claims rather than an independent road test. The sources used here do not establish first-hand driving impressions, so they cannot support conclusions about ride, visibility, cabin comfort, or real-world handling.
Quick Recap
- Check the fuel associated with any quoted output: 1,140 hp applies to E85/E100, while Koenigsegg lists 960 hp on 95-octane gasoline.
- Keep the R separate from the Agera S, RS, and RSR. Their model years, fuel context, and specifications differ.
- Treat acceleration and other performance numbers as official specifications unless an independent test is explicitly identified.
- Interpret a sale price as evidence about that car and transaction, not as a standing market quote.
