The Koenigsegg Aethera is a digital hypercar concept designed by Alexandre Bernini during a six-month internship at the company. Its dramatic styling has prompted calls for it to become a real car, but the available sources establish a design project—not a confirmed Koenigsegg model. As of Auto Motor und Sport’s December 23, 2024 report, Koenigsegg had not announced plans to build it.
What is the Koenigsegg Aethera?
Aethera is a concept design presented in Bernini’s portfolio as “Koenigsegg – AETHERA.” His Behance project page is dated November 5, 2024. Automotive coverage describes it as a digital rendering created during his six-month Koenigsegg internship, rather than a production car announced by the manufacturer. Bernini’s Behance project and Auto Motor und Sport’s December 23, 2024 report provide the key context.
What does the concept look like?
The rendering pairs recognizable hypercar cues with a softer, more rounded shape. Auto Motor und Sport describes a forward-set cabin, a centrally positioned single wiper and a large roof air intake. Its reporting also notes styling that recalls early Koenigseggs and some McLarens; those are visual comparisons, not confirmed design influences.
CarBuzz’s description of the rendering calls out a bulbous nose, inset headlights, a large front splitter and a double-bubble roof. It also identifies apparent Dihedral Synchro-Helix doors and forged-carbon surfaces. These details describe what is depicted in the concept, not equipment or materials confirmed for an engineered vehicle. Readers may also see similarities to the CC850 or Gemera, as noted by Automotorsport Sweden, but resemblance does not establish an official connection.

Is the Aethera going into production?
No production plan is confirmed in the available reporting. Auto Motor und Sport said on December 23, 2024 that Koenigsegg had not announced plans to realize the design. That is a dated status report, not proof of a later cancellation or a guarantee that the status has not changed. The sources cited here do not establish a subsequent official production announcement.
So the careful description is “Koenigsegg Aethera concept,” not “upcoming Koenigsegg Aethera.” A designer’s project and an automaker’s production announcement are different things, even when a rendering looks plausible enough to imagine on the road.

Are there Aethera specifications?
The consulted Aethera sources do not establish an engine, motor layout, horsepower, dimensions, weight, top speed or tested aerodynamic coefficient. A CarBuzz article reproduced in a compiled automotive-news PDF imagines a 2,300-horsepower combination of a 5.0-liter V8 and electric motors; that is a speculative scenario, not an announced Aethera powertrain or specification. The same article says the concept has no simulated wind-tunnel data, so claims about its downforce or aerodynamic performance should not be treated as test results.
Koenigsegg’s official aerodynamics and handling page describes the company’s development approach and cites a 0.278 drag coefficient for the Jesko Absolut. That figure belongs to the Jesko Absolut; it says nothing about the Aethera.

Why has the design attracted attention?
The Aethera combines details associated with Koenigsegg—such as its roof treatment and apparent door concept—with a distinctly rounded body and inset lighting. That mix makes it easy to picture as a striking addition to the brand’s lineup, while leaving the central distinction intact: an appealing rendering is not evidence that the company has engineered, tested or approved a production car.
For now, the Aethera is best understood as an intern-designed concept that invites discussion about what a future Koenigsegg might look like. Its production status and technical specifications remain unconfirmed in the sources cited above.
