Chris Hall drove the UK-market GT-Line S AWD, praising its refinement and comfort while flagging inconsistent-feeling automatic regenerative braking. Its range and equipment depend on the exact drivetrain, trim and wheels.
What car did T3 drive?
Chris Hall’s T3 first drive, published 22 October 2024, covered the mid-life update to the EV6, a model introduced in 2021 and built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform. The UK test car was a GT-Line S AWD. The facelift keeps the EV6’s distinctive crossover shape and tech-focused cabin while revising details including the front lighting and steering wheel.
Hall’s impressions come from one first drive, not a comparative or controlled test. His account is useful for understanding how that particular car felt, but it should not be read as a guarantee of how every trim or driving condition will perform.
What are the range and performance differences?
There is no single EV6 range figure: drivetrain and wheel size change Kia’s published WLTP results. Kia UK’s specification page, checked 8 October 2026, lists these figures for the 84.0 kWh battery:

These are manufacturer-published test-cycle results for the specified UK configurations, not predictions of real-world mileage. Kia says actual range can vary with driving style, speed, temperature, terrain and electrical loads. The current figures are on Kia UK’s EV6 specification page; availability and specifications can change.
The T3 test car’s quoted range was 324 miles. Its display showed 311 miles at the start of Hall’s drive. He reported averaging around 3.3 miles per kWh in mixed driving without deliberately conserving energy, which he estimated would equate to about 277 miles. That is one journalist’s drive result and calculation, not a standardized test or a promised range.

Kia lists 225 bhp for RWD and 320 bhp for AWD. Hall’s AWD test car was quoted at 0–62 mph in 5.3 seconds. Choose RWD if the longer published range and lower power suit your priorities; AWD offers more power and traction, with a lower published range in the configurations shown.
How does the facelifted EV6 drive?
Hall described the EV6 as quiet, refined and easy to drive. He found it handled bumps well, even on the test car’s optional 20-inch wheels. Those are subjective impressions from his UK first drive rather than measured ride or noise results.

The EV6 offers multiple regenerative-braking settings, including one-pedal driving. Hall liked having the choice, but found the automatic mode unpredictable: the amount of deceleration when lifting off the accelerator could vary. Drivers who prefer consistent lift-off behaviour may want to try the modes on a test drive and see which setting feels natural.
What are charging times and conditions?
Kia’s 18-minute claim for charging from 10% to 80% is conditional: it assumes a compatible high-power 800-volt charger delivering at least 260 kW, with the manufacturer’s charging information also presenting a 350 kW charger condition. The car’s charging rate can reach up to 258 kW according to the T3 review, but that peak is not a rate maintained throughout a charging stop. Battery temperature, weather, the vehicle’s state of charge and the charging equipment can all affect the time.

Treat 18 minutes as a manufacturer claim under suitable conditions, not a guaranteed stop duration. Kia discusses charging and Kia Charge on its EV6 page.

Hall reported a flat rear floor, useful storage and a 480-litre boot in the test car. The cabin’s two 12.3-inch displays give it a screen-led layout. His test car also had wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 15 W wireless charging pad, and USB-C ports at the front and rear. Equipment can vary by trim and market, so check the specification of the car being offered rather than assuming all versions include these features.

Kia’s UK product material identifies vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability with an adapter for GT-Line S. V2L lets the vehicle supply power to compatible equipment, but confirm the model year, trim, connector and UK-market compatibility before buying an adapter. What did the EV6 cost at the time of T3’s drive?
In October 2024, T3 reported a UK starting price just over £45,000 for Air, £53,675 for GT-Line S RWD and £57,175 for the GT-Line S AWD it drove. These are historical prices reported at publication, not current quotations. Check Kia’s current UK pricing and offers before making a buying decision.
Should you consider the Kia EV6?
The facelift is best understood as a focused update to a roomy, distinctive electric crossover, not a new-generation car. The configuration choice matters: Kia’s published range varies from up to 361 miles WLTP for the specified 19-inch RWD versions to 324 miles for the 20-inch GT-Line S AWD, while AWD brings greater power. Hall’s positive impressions of comfort and refinement are balanced by his criticism of automatic regeneration. A test drive is especially useful if that braking behaviour matters to you.
