Kia Carens Clavis variants and features explained: India lineup, engines and equipment (2026)

A practical guide to the India-market Kia Carens Clavis lineup: 13 trims, three engine families, transmission choices, six- or seven-seat layouts, standard safety, configuration-dependent ADAS and feature differences from HTE to X Line.

The India-market Kia Carens Clavis is a three-engine, six- or seven-seat MPV sold in a 13-trim range. The key buying decision is not simply the trim badge: engine, transmission, seat layout and option package can change which safety, comfort and technology features you receive. Kia’s current showroom listing and 2026 brochure should be treated as the reference point, because displayed equipment and prices can change by configuration.

In practical terms, the range runs from the safety-focused HTE family to technology-rich HTX variants and the sportier GTX+ and X Line. Turbo-petrol buyers can choose manual, iMT or DCT drivetrains; naturally aspirated petrol is manual-only in the published specifications; diesel is offered with manual or automatic transmission. A six-airbag, 18-feature safety package is described as standard, while Level 2 ADAS is restricted to qualifying 7DCT configurations.

What variants are currently listed?

Kia India’s current showroom page lists 13 Carens Clavis trims. The names combine a trim grade with a seat-count or fuel qualifier, so reading only “HTX” or “GTX+” is not enough to establish the exact equipment. The live configurator is the authority for the engine-transmission pairing and final feature list attached to a particular vehicle.

Trim shown by Kia India Qualifier in the name What the name tells you What still needs checking
HTE 7 Seven seats Entry HTE family with the standard safety package and basic equipment Engine and transmission for the selected listing
HTE CNG CNG fuel Entry HTE family with a CNG powertrain Seat count, transmission and CNG-specific specification
HTE(O) 7 Seven seats HTE(O) equipment package Exact powertrain and optional equipment
HTE(O) CNG CNG fuel HTE(O) package with CNG Seat count and exact feature fitment
HTE(EX) 7 Seven seats HTE(EX) package Engine, transmission and whether convenience options are included
HTK+ 7 Seven seats HTK+ convenience and exterior upgrades Powertrain and sunroof availability
HTK+(O) 7 Seven seats HTK+(O) equipment package Configuration-specific engine and panoramic-sunroof fitment
HTX 7 Seven seats HTX technology and connected-car equipment Exact engine, transmission and camera/audio specification
HTX(O) 7 Seven seats HTX(O) package, including equipment highlighted by Kia Whether the selected powertrain changes the feature list
HTX+ 7 Seven seats Upper-trim comfort and driver-assistance equipment ADAS availability on the specific DCT configuration
GTX+ 7 Seven seats Upper GTX+ trim with premium equipment Engine-transmission combination and exact ADAS fitment
GTX+ 6 Six seats GTX+ trim with a six-seat cabin Powertrain and captain-chair equipment for the order
X Line 7 Seven seats Distinctive X Line exterior and interior treatment Powertrain and feature differences from GTX+ 7

The suffixes are therefore meaningful. “6” identifies the six-seat layout, “7” identifies the seven-seat layout, and “CNG” identifies the fuel type. Parenthesised suffixes such as (O) and (EX) indicate a different equipment package rather than a universal engine or seat specification.

Which engines and transmissions are available?

Kia publishes three engine families for the Carens Clavis. The figures below are manufacturer outputs from Kia India’s 2026 brochure, not independent test results. Transmission availability comes from Kia India’s current FAQ and specification material.

Engine family Published output Published torque Transmission choices Best fit for
Smartstream G1.5 T-GDi turbo-petrol 117.5 kW at 5,500 rpm 253 Nm at 1,500–3,500 rpm 6MT, 6iMT or 7DCT Drivers wanting the broadest transmission choice and stronger low- and mid-range torque
Smartstream G1.5 naturally aspirated petrol 84.4 kW at 6,300 rpm 143.8 Nm at 4,500 rpm 6MT Buyers who prefer a conventional petrol engine and manual gearbox
1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel 85 kW at 4,000 rpm 250 Nm at 1,500–2,750 rpm 6MT or 6AT High-mileage use and buyers seeking diesel torque with an automatic option

Here, 6MT means a six-speed manual transmission, 6iMT is Kia’s clutch-pedal-free manual system, 7DCT is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and 6AT is a conventional six-speed automatic. The brochure and showroom material show small output differences between editions; use the current Kia configurator for the exact figure attached to a vehicle you intend to order rather than mixing numbers from different brochure versions.

What about the CNG variants?

The showroom lists HTE CNG and HTE(O) CNG. The supplied Kia material identifies the trims but does not provide a separate CNG output and transmission table in the feature summary. Do not assume that a CNG version has the same engine, gearbox or seating arrangement as a petrol version. Confirm the fuel-system specification, boot-space effect, seat count, warranty terms and transmission on the live configuration and dealer quotation.

Does the Carens Clavis come with six or seven seats?

Both layouts are available. Seven-seat versions use a conventional second row and a third row, while the GTX+ 6 listing provides a six-seat configuration with captain-style second-row chairs. The six-seat layout is aimed at passengers who value second-row separation and easier access between the chairs; the seven-seat layout prioritises maximum occupant capacity.

How the rows are intended to work

  • Kia highlights flexible second-row seating across the entry family, allowing the row to slide or fold to balance passenger room and access to the third row.
  • On seven-seat versions, Kia highlights a fold-flat third row. Folding it increases luggage flexibility, but the usable load floor and access path depend on the exact seat position.
  • The six-seat GTX+ arrangement should be checked in person if you regularly carry bulky luggage, because captain chairs leave a different centre passage and cargo-folding pattern from a bench seat.

Seat count is not a cosmetic suffix. It changes how children, adults and luggage can be arranged, so make the seating decision before comparing sound systems or trim décor.

How much safety equipment is standard?

Kia describes a “Robust 18 Hi-Safety Package” as standard across variants and separately confirms six airbags. The brochure’s list includes front, side and curtain airbags; anti-lock braking with brake assist; electronic stability control and vehicle stability management; hill-start assist; emergency stop signal; downhill brake control; tyre-pressure monitoring; rear parking sensors; three-point belts with reminders; ISOFIX child-seat mounts; rear occupant alert; all-wheel disc brakes; and a rollover sensor.

The count refers to 18 safety features, not 18 airbags. The six airbags are the airbag total Kia confirms for the model. Equipment shown on the showroom page is representative, so inspect the build sheet for the exact trim before treating a feature as fitted.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which versions have Level 2 ADAS?

Level 2 ADAS is configuration-dependent, not a range-wide feature. Kia’s brochure ties the 20-function system to qualifying 7DCT configurations. A manual, iMT, diesel automatic or other non-qualifying configuration should not be described as having the same system without confirmation.

These are driver-assistance aids, not autonomous driving. They depend on sensors, camera visibility, road markings and driver supervision. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the menus and warning behaviour on the exact 7DCT vehicle rather than relying on a generic trim advertisement.

What does each trim family add?

HTE, HTE(O) and HTE(EX): the entry ladder

The HTE family starts with the standard safety package, flexible second-row seating and, on seven-seat versions, a fold-flat third row. Kia describes the basic instrument information as part of this level. HTE(O) and HTE(EX) move up the equipment ladder: the showroom highlights an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable mirrors, and, on some configurations, automatic climate control and an electric sunroof.

Those additions are not guaranteed on every HTE(O) or HTE(EX) vehicle. Check whether the feature belongs to the exact engine and transmission combination you selected, particularly when comparing petrol, diesel and CNG listings.

HTK+ and HTK+(O): convenience-focused middle trims

HTK+ adds equipment that is useful in daily urban driving and parking. Kia highlights connected LED tail lamps, front parking sensors, roof rails and cruise control, with selected sunroof availability.

HTK+(O) is the more equipment-heavy step in this part of the range. Kia highlights 17-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charging, a dashcam and automatic climate control. A panoramic sunroof is highlighted for the specified G1.5T configuration; it should not be assumed for every HTK+(O) powertrain.

HTX and HTX(O): displays and connected technology

The HTX family is where the cabin technology becomes a major differentiator. Kia highlights twin 12.25-inch displays, Kia Connect services and over-the-air map and system updates. A 360-degree camera with Blind View Monitor is also highlighted, helping the driver see around the vehicle and monitor the blind-spot area.

HTX(O) adds the equipment Kia associates with that package, including BOSE eight-speaker audio in the showroom description. Confirm whether the audio system, camera and display combination changes with the chosen engine or transmission.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

HTX+: comfort and qualifying driver assistance

HTX+ adds comfort equipment aimed at frequent long-distance use: ventilated front seats, a four-way powered driver seat and rain-sensing wipers. Kia also associates Level 2 ADAS with the specified DCT configuration. The DCT qualifier matters; the trim name alone does not establish ADAS availability.

GTX+ and X Line: top-end choices with different emphasis

GTX+ is offered in both six- and seven-seat forms. Kia’s brochure highlights digital key and ADAS on the qualifying DCT configuration, while the showroom positions GTX+ as a premium upper trim. Choose GTX+ 6 when second-row captain chairs are more valuable than maximum seating, and GTX+ 7 when carrying seven occupants is the priority.

X Line 7 is a distinct upper trim with sportier or otherwise differentiated interior and exterior treatment. It is not simply a colour option. Compare its exact wheel, upholstery, trim and powertrain specification with GTX+ 7 in the configurator, because the displayed equipment can vary by configuration.

  • Sunroof: lower packages may show an electric sunroof, while HTK+(O) highlights a panoramic sunroof on a specified G1.5T configuration. Availability is not universal.
  • Climate and seating: automatic climate control appears on selected HTE(O)/HTE(EX) and HTK+(O) configurations; HTX+ adds ventilated front seats and a four-way powered driver seat.
  • Displays: selected lower variants use an 8-inch touchscreen, while HTX-family equipment highlights twin 12.25-inch displays.
  • Phone and audio: Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are highlighted with the 8-inch system; wireless charging and BOSE eight-speaker audio appear on specified higher packages.
  • Parking visibility: front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Blind View Monitor arrive at different points in the ladder. A rear camera or sensor package should not be inferred from the presence of a higher trim name.
  • Connected services: Kia Connect and over-the-air map or system updates are highlighted for HTX-family versions. Check subscription conditions and network availability with the dealer.
  • Convenience: dashcam, cruise control, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers and digital key are all configuration- or trim-dependent.

What are the current prices?

Kia India’s current FAQ gives ex-showroom starting figures of ₹11,38,900 for the base model and ₹21,78,900 for the top GTX+ 7 after the stated GST cut. These are time-sensitive showroom figures, not on-road prices. Registration, insurance, road tax, accessories, financing and local charges can raise the amount payable.

The figures also do not establish the price of every engine, CNG version, seat layout or upper trim. Obtain a written quote for the exact trim, fuel, transmission and city, and check that the quote identifies the model year and all included equipment.

Which Carens Clavis variant should you choose?

Choose by powertrain first

  1. Select turbo-petrol if you want the choice of manual, iMT or DCT and the published 253 Nm torque output.
  2. Select naturally aspirated petrol if a manual-only petrol configuration meets your performance and driving needs.
  3. Select diesel if your annual mileage and route profile justify it and you want either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
  4. Treat CNG as a separate decision: confirm its exact gearbox, seating and luggage implications instead of assuming petrol equivalence.

Then choose the cabin layout

Pick seven seats if occasional third-row use or maximum passenger capacity matters. Pick six seats if second-row captain chairs and easier individual access matter more. Sit in all three rows with the people who will actually travel in them; brochure dimensions do not reveal every access or cargo compromise.

Finally choose equipment according to use

  • For a safety-first purchase at the lowest entry point, start with the HTE family and verify that the standard 18-feature package is listed on the build sheet.
  • For essential connectivity and occasional sunroof interest, compare HTE(O) and HTE(EX) configurations rather than assuming every option is included.
  • For parking aids, charging and convenience equipment, compare HTK+ with HTK+(O).
  • For large displays, connected services, premium audio and camera coverage, move to HTX or HTX(O).
  • For ventilated seats, powered-seat adjustment, rain sensing and qualifying ADAS, inspect HTX+ and the relevant DCT specification.
  • For the most premium presentation, compare GTX+ 6, GTX+ 7 and X Line 7 after deciding whether six or seven seats is non-negotiable.

What to verify before booking

  1. Open the live Kia configurator for your city and record the exact trim name, fuel, engine, transmission and seat count.
  2. Download or request the build sheet showing airbags, camera systems, sunroof, displays, audio, seat ventilation and ADAS.
  3. Confirm whether the quoted price is ex-showroom or on-road and record the date, GST basis, insurance and registration assumptions.
  4. For a CNG vehicle, verify tank location, usable luggage space, fuel-system warranty and service requirements.
  5. For a 7DCT vehicle advertised with Level 2 ADAS, ask the dealer to identify the ADAS functions in writing and demonstrate them on that vehicle.
  6. Inspect the six- or seven-seat interior physically, including third-row entry, child-seat mounting points and luggage space with all rows occupied.
  7. Compare the vehicle identification and model year on the purchase order with the configuration you tested.

Kia’s showroom warns that displayed colours, features and specifications are representative and may vary. The exact live configuration and dealer quotation should therefore control the purchase decision.
