Choose the KGM Torres EVX if you need a larger SUV, documented 1,500 kg braked towing capacity and generous standard battery capacity. Choose the Kia EV3 if you want a shorter, narrower electric SUV with a choice of two battery sizes and a potentially lower entry price in markets where it is sold. Neither is the universal winner. The published figures come from different countries, trims, wheel sizes and test configurations, so compare equivalent local versions and obtain current dealer quotes before deciding.

KGM Torres EVX in Germany
KGM Germany’s model page lists three Torres EVX trim starting prices: Core at €41,990, Bliss at €44,990 and Lux at €48,990. The figures are German-market recommended prices and delivery costs are additional. KGM’s newsroom announcement dated 13 May 2026 describes the refreshed 80.6 kWh model and gives the €41,990 starting recommended price including 19% German VAT. Kia EV3 in France
Kia France lists the EV3 from €36,490 including tax. Its page also identifies two battery configurations and their local WLTP ranges, but French equipment packages do not necessarily match UK Air, GT-Line or GT-Line S specifications. Review the current French configurator at Kia France’s EV3 page.
How to make a fair price comparison
- Choose one country where you will register and service the vehicle.
- Select the same type of drivetrain, battery and wheel size where possible.
- Include delivery, registration, paint, optional equipment, finance interest, taxes and any local incentive.
- Ask both dealers for written on-the-road prices and confirm the quoted vehicle’s model year.
- Compare the equipment you actually need rather than the cheapest badge price. A lower-priced short-range EV3 may not be equivalent to a long-range Torres EVX, and a higher Torres trim may include equipment you would otherwise add to the Kia.
Because the cited prices are from Germany and France, they indicate positioning rather than a winner. Local tax, incentives, exchange rates and dealer stock can reverse the order.
Battery and range: understand the test configurations
Torres EVX battery and WLTP figures
The German Torres EVX specification lists an 80.6 kWh battery, 503 km combined WLTP range and energy consumption of 19.3 kWh/100 km. KGM’s May 2026 announcement says the refreshed model can exceed 500 km on the combined cycle and reports up to 664 km on an urban cycle. Urban-cycle and combined-cycle results describe different test conditions; the urban figure should not be compared with another vehicle’s combined rating.

Kia UK lists a 58.3 kWh standard-range battery and an 81.4 kWh long-range battery. The long-range, front-wheel-drive version on 17-inch wheels is listed at up to 375 miles combined WLTP. Kia notes that the 19-inch configuration has a different range, so a GT-Line or GT-Line S figure cannot automatically be taken from the 17-inch Air specification.

Kia France reports up to 436 km combined WLTP for the 58.3 kWh standard-range version and up to 605 km for the 81.4 kWh long-range, front-wheel-drive version. Those figures apply to the French market and its specified configurations, not necessarily to a UK- or German-market car.
What WLTP can and cannot tell you
WLTP is a standardized comparison method, not a promise of motorway distance. Cold weather, heating, air-conditioning, speed, payload, hills, traffic and wheel choice all affect consumption. No matched independent real-world test was established for these two vehicles, so it would be misleading to declare one the real-world range winner from the published ratings alone.
For planning, use the local version’s official range as a starting point, then leave a buffer for weather and charging gaps. If you regularly drive long motorway distances, the long-range EV3 and Torres EVX are the relevant versions to test; the standard-range EV3 is aimed at buyers whose daily use makes the lower purchase price and smaller battery more important than maximum trip distance.

The Torres EVX is 405–415 mm longer and 40 mm wider than the EV3 dimensions listed by Kia. That difference matters in narrow garages, older multi-storey car parks and tight urban streets. Measure your parking space, garage door and turning area rather than relying on the “SUV” label.

A longer, wider body can be useful for a family that carries bulky equipment, but dimensions alone do not establish rear-seat comfort, boot volume or child-seat access. The cited specifications do not provide a matched cargo-volume or passenger-space comparison. Sit in both vehicles with your own child seats, luggage and passengers before placing an order.
Towing and outdoor equipment
KGM Germany documents a maximum braked trailer weight of 1,500 kg for the Torres EVX. That makes it the only vehicle in this comparison with a verified towing figure. The cited Kia source does not state an equivalent EV3 towing capacity; that omission is not proof that the EV3 cannot tow. If you need a trailer, request the exact local homologation, tow-bar approval, vertical-load limit and any battery or speed restrictions in writing.

The EV3 times are Kia’s quoted estimates, not a guarantee for every public charger. Kia says maximum charging speed requires a 400-volt charger delivering at least 150 kW. A charger with a lower power rating, a busy site, a cold or hot battery, or a high state of charge will normally produce a different result. KGM lists the Torres EVX’s maximum DC input but does not provide a comparable 10–80% time on the cited page.
Home charging choice
Both vehicles support AC charging at the 11 kW level stated by their manufacturers. A home EV charger Type 2 wallbox can make overnight charging convenient, but the right installation depends on the vehicle inlet, your country’s connector rules, single- or three-phase supply, available electrical capacity, cable routing, protection devices and local certification. Have an approved installer check the property before buying equipment. If your home can supply only a lower power level, the car will charge more slowly; that does not prevent ownership, but it changes the overnight schedule.

Road-trip implications
For frequent long trips, compare the charging network along your actual routes, not only peak kilowatts. Check whether stations have the connector used by the local vehicle, contactless payment, reliable uptime and a backup site. The EV3’s quoted short 10–80% windows apply to its specified batteries and charger outputs. The Torres EVX’s 120 kW ceiling may be sufficient for your route, but the time spent at a stop will depend on the charger and battery temperature.
Powertrain and driving role
What is documented for the Torres EVX
KGM Germany lists 152 kW (207 PS) and 339 Nm for the Torres EVX. The same page identifies the battery, charging limits and towing rating shown above. These figures describe the vehicle’s published specification; they do not predict acceleration, handling or ride quality on every wheel and trim.
What is documented for the EV3
The cited Kia UK and France pages identify the EV3 battery choices, front-wheel-drive long-range configurations, range ratings and charging data, but they do not provide an equivalent output-and-torque figure in the supplied specifications. Do not infer that the EV3 is faster or slower from battery capacity alone. Arrange a test drive on the exact trim you intend to buy, especially if wheel size or equipment changes the ride.

Which one fits your use case?
Choose the Torres EVX when size and towing are central
- You regularly tow a braked trailer within the documented 1,500 kg limit and local approval requirements.
- You prefer the larger exterior footprint and want a more substantial SUV shape.
- You want one 80.6 kWh battery specification rather than choosing between two EV3 capacities.
- Your local dealer can support the Torres EVX and provide a competitive, equivalent-trim quote.
The trade-off is parking space, potentially higher purchase cost in markets where the German pricing position carries over, and no independently matched real-world range comparison in the evidence available here.

Choose the EV3 when urban dimensions and battery choice matter
- You often park in tight city spaces and value a body roughly four metres long rather than a larger SUV footprint.
- You want the option of a 58.3 kWh standard-range battery for lower routine energy and purchase requirements, or an 81.4 kWh long-range battery for longer journeys.
- You can use Kia’s local charging support and prefer the EV3’s documented 10–80% charging estimates for your selected battery.
- You do not need a towing capacity unless Kia confirms one for your exact market and vehicle.
The trade-off is that range depends strongly on trim and wheels, and the lowest advertised French price is not a direct comparison with German Torres pricing.
For a mixed family and commuting pattern
Start with the longest journey you make several times a month, not your average commute. If that trip is comfortably covered by the standard-range EV3 with a weather buffer, the smaller battery may avoid unnecessary cost and mass. If you carry a trailer, sports equipment or several passengers, the Torres EVX’s larger body and verified towing figure deserve priority. If neither requirement is decisive, the EV3’s shorter dimensions can reduce daily parking stress.

EV3 battery selection
The standard-range EV3 is the rational choice when most charging happens at home and your routine mileage is modest. The long-range version is the safer choice for drivers who make frequent intercity trips, have limited access to chargers or want fewer charging stops. The battery upgrade should be evaluated with the local price difference, not simply the maximum WLTP headline.

EV3 wheel size
Kia’s UK specification assigns the highest cited 375-mile rating to a long-range FWD configuration on 17-inch wheels and states that 19-inch versions have a different range. Confirm the exact wheel and tyre package on the order form; a trim name alone does not identify the range result.
Torres EVX trims
KGM Germany lists Core, Bliss and Lux. Compare their standard equipment, driver-assistance features, interior options, wheels and delivery charges in the local configurator. The trim price steps are not a substitute for an equipment list, and availability can change by model year.
Questions to settle before signing
- Which country’s car are you buying? Ask for the local price including all taxes and registration charges.
- Which battery, drivetrain and wheels? Record these on the quote because they can alter range and charging specifications.
- What range document applies? Request the official WLTP sheet for the exact vehicle rather than relying on a general brochure.
- Can your home supply 11 kW? An installer should confirm phase configuration, protective equipment and available capacity.
- What is the approved towing limit? For the Torres EVX, verify that the 1,500 kg braked figure applies to your local homologation. For the EV3, obtain a written local figure if towing is important.
- Where will you charge on long trips? Map reliable sites and backups along your normal routes.
- What support is local? Confirm servicing locations, roadside assistance, parts availability and warranty terms directly with the country-specific distributor. Those items were not verified in the specifications used here.
Verdict: match the vehicle to the job
The KGM Torres EVX is the more suitable tool for a buyer who prioritizes a larger SUV body and documented trailer capability. The Kia EV3 is the more adaptable urban choice because it is shorter and narrower and offers two battery sizes, with the long-range version aimed at drivers who want more trip flexibility.
Do not use the German Torres price, French EV3 price, UK EV3 miles figure and French EV3 kilometres figure as if they were one market comparison. Select your country, trim, battery and wheels first; then compare written on-the-road quotes, charging access and the tasks the vehicle must perform. That process will produce a more reliable answer than choosing from a single headline range or starting price.
