Despite the headline’s reference to Karnataka, the October 5, 2026 report describes a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) service between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. It reports a weekday premium bus with reclining seats, onboard entertainment, Wi-Fi and a hostess—but those service details, its schedule and its ₹671 fare have not been confirmed against an official live booking listing.
Is the premium KSRTC bus in Karnataka or Kerala?
The service described is in Kerala, not Karnataka. NDTV Travel Desk’s October 5, 2026 report concerns a Thiruvananthapuram–Ernakulam route. Kerala KSRTC’s official depot directory lists depots in both cities, and a 2024 KSRTC Swift document identifies KSRTC Swift Ltd. as a Government of Kerala undertaking (official document).
The headline’s Karnataka reference therefore does not match the route in the report. The available information does not establish a Karnataka service with these same details.
What amenities does the report describe?
NDTV reports that the bus has 36 reclining seats and a personal entertainment system at each seat. It also lists a washroom, USB charging, free Wi-Fi, and an onboard hostess serving snacks and beverages. A pantry with a mini refrigerator and coffee maker is also described.

What route, schedule and fare are reported?
NDTV describes weekday departures from Thiruvananthapuram at 5:30 a.m., reaching Ernakulam at 9:30 a.m. The reported return leaves Ernakulam at 5:30 p.m. and arrives in Thiruvananthapuram at 9:30 p.m. The report names Kollam Ayathil, Alappuzha Komadi and the High Court as stops.
The report puts the distance at roughly 200–227 km, depending on route, and gives a fare of ₹671 for travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam. These times, stops, distance and fare are attributed to the report; they have not been verified against live booking inventory and may change.

Does this make the bus a better choice than flying?
The report’s “forget flights” framing is not supported by a route-specific comparison. The available sources do not establish that the bus is faster, cheaper door to door or more convenient than flying.
