Built as a one-off, all-wheel-drive 1965 Ford Mustang notchback for Gymkhana SEVEN, it paired a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V8 with a bespoke Sadev AWD system.
What happened at the reveal
Hoonigan announced the Hoonicorn RTR’s first public appearance at the Ford booth at SEMA on November 4, 2014. The company said the car had taken two years to build in Charlotte, North Carolina, through a collaboration involving Ken Block, Hoonigan, RTR and ASD Motorsports. Block said he was “stoked” to unveil it publicly at the show. Hoonigan’s reveal announcement
The car was created for Block’s upcoming Gymkhana SEVEN. The video launched on November 17, 2014, and put the custom Mustang on the streets of Los Angeles. Hoonigan described the car in the video announcement as an 845-hp, all-wheel-drive 1965 Mustang called the Hoonicorn. Hoonigan’s Gymkhana SEVEN announcement
What made the original Hoonicorn unusual
Rather than a conventional rear-drive classic Mustang, the Hoonicorn was a bespoke all-wheel-drive build. Its original reveal specification combined a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V8, rated at 845 hp, with a Sadev AWD system. Hoonigan’s garage page lists 720 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm and a six-speed Sadev transmission for the original car. Hoonigan Racing’s garage
