Before ordering parts, verify the model year and market: the current bike has a 1,099 cc inline-four, not a 900 cc engine. The right purchase depends on whether you want a lightly equipped S Standard, factory touring equipment, or the electronically controlled suspension of the SE.
This guide explains the model-name change, compares every documented trim, specifies the complete luggage kits you need, and puts Kawasaki’s protection accessories in a sensible installation order. Equipment, colors, prices, warranty terms and part numbers can vary by country, so use your local Kawasaki configurator and dealer for the final build.

First, resolve the “Versys 900” naming problem
Kawasaki’s official U.S. announcement dated October 1, 2024 calls the large Versys the 2025 Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE LT ABS. Kawasaki’s 2026 specification sheet also lists a 1,099 cc engine. That means “Versys 900” is best treated as a buyer-search phrase, an older reference or a market-specific misunderstanding rather than the name of the current large model.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDo not use the search phrase alone when buying accessories. Match the exact model designation, year, trim and market shown on the motorcycle’s documents and on the seller’s fitment table. A pannier rack or protection part for a different Versys generation may look similar while using different mounting points.

What the current Versys 1100 is
The 2025–2026 bike is a sport-touring motorcycle built around a 1,099 cc liquid-cooled inline-four. Kawasaki publishes 133 CV at 9,000 rpm and 111.85 Nm at 7,600 rpm. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent dynamometer results.
| Published specification | Versys 1100 figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 1,099 cc inline-four | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet |
| Maximum power | 133 CV at 9,000 rpm | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet |
| Maximum torque | 111.85 Nm at 7,600 rpm | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet |
| Fuel-tank capacity | 20.8 L | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet |
| Seat height | 840.74 mm | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet |
| Curb weight before panniers | 259.04 kg | Kawasaki 2026 specification sheet; luggage adds weight |
The 259.04 kg curb figure is before panniers. Once cases, mounts and cargo are fitted, the loaded motorcycle is heavier, so account for that when judging parking, reversing and low-speed maneuverability.
Choose the trim by suspension, equipment and total installed cost
Kawasaki’s documented S range consists of S Standard, S Tourer and S Grand Tourer. The SE (including the U.S. SE LT specification) adds electronically controlled KECS suspension with Skyhook technology. The best trim is not automatically the most expensive one; compare the equipment you would otherwise buy, the passenger comfort you need and the value you place on automatic suspension adjustment.

Edition descriptions do not always distinguish factory-installed parts from dealer-supplied accessories. Confirm that detail on the local vehicle specification and purchase order rather than assuming every listed item is fitted before delivery.
When the S Standard is the sensible choice
Choose the S Standard if your use is mostly commuting, day rides or short trips and you prefer to add only the parts you will actually use. Starting with a leaner motorcycle lets you select a 56 L pannier kit, top case, protection and comfort parts in stages. It also avoids paying for fog lights or touring accessories that will remain unused.
When the S Tourer earns its place
The S Tourer is aimed at buyers who already know they will carry luggage. Kawasaki lists pannier inner bags and a tank pad with this edition. Inner bags let you remove luggage contents without carrying the hard cases into a hotel, while the tank pad protects paint from clothing and jacket hardware.

When the S Grand Tourer is the better calculation
The S Grand Tourer bundles the items most often added to a touring build: LED fog lights, pannier inner bags, a tank pad, a 47 L top-case backrest and inner bag, frame sliders and a GPS bracket. Compare the edition’s delivered price with the local prices and installation charges for those parts. The package is most compelling for multi-day and two-up use, but only after you confirm which items are installed at the factory and which are supplied by the dealer.

When to pay for the SE or SE LT
The defining reason to choose the SE is KECS, Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension, with Skyhook technology. It is the premium choice when changing load, passenger weight and road conditions makes suspension setup a recurring concern. The U.S. SE LT announcement also identifies an updated quick shifter, a USB-C outlet and RIDEOLOGY smartphone connectivity. Treat those as U.S.-market documentation: another country may use a different equipment list.
Luggage: buy a complete, model-specific system
The most common ordering mistake is buying a bare case and discovering that the carrier, color panel or lock cylinder is missing. Kawasaki’s catalog identifies complete kits for the Versys 1100 S and SE. Ask the dealer to quote the complete local part-number set, not just the plastic case.
56 L pannier kit: two 28 L side cases
The factory pannier system is a 56 L kit made from two 28 L cases. Kawasaki’s complete kit includes the pannier shells, fitting kit, color covers or deco parts and a One-Key lock cylinder. The cases are designed to hold most full-face helmets and attach directly to the factory handgrips, giving the motorcycle a clean appearance when the panniers are removed.
“Most full-face helmets” is not a promise that every helmet will fit. Helmet shell size, spoiler shape and internal padding can change the result. If helmet storage is essential, test your actual helmets at the dealer before signing the order.
47 L top-case kit
The 47 L top-case kit includes the case, carrier plate, color cover, aluminium deco plate and One-Key lock cylinder. Kawasaki rates it to fit two of most full-face helmets. An optional backrest improves passenger comfort, while an inner bag makes hotel stops easier.

- 【2 CARGO NETS & COMPLETE MOUNTING KIT】 This Motorcycle Luggage Rack comes with 1 rear luggage rack, 1 mounting screw set, 1 reflective 16-inch cargo net, and 1 universal 16-inch cargo net. The elastic nets help keep smaller bags and loose items securely positioned, providing convenient storage options for commuting, touring, camping, and everyday trips.
Check that the quote includes the carrier plate and the model-specific fitting hardware. A case without its carrier cannot be installed, and a lock cylinder may need to be keyed to the motorcycle before delivery.
How the One-Key system works
In the complete kits, the One-Key system lets the pannier and top-case locks use the motorcycle ignition key. Confirm that the lock cylinder is included and coded for your key. A universal or separately purchased cylinder may not provide the same convenience and can add a second key to your daily routine.
Do the editions include panniers?
Availability depends on the edition and market. The catalog lists the 56 L pannier kit for Versys 1100 S and SE models, while edition descriptions identify different accessory bundles. Do not infer that every motorcycle wearing an S or SE badge includes side cases. Have the seller write each case, mount, cover, lock cylinder and installation item on the order.
Protection accessories in the order they matter
Protection parts are easier to justify when prioritized by the damage they address. Kawasaki lists the following accessories for Versys 1100/S/SE applications, but fitment and installation requirements must still be checked for your exact year and market.
1. Radiator cover
A radiator cover is the first protection purchase for riders who encounter gravel, road debris or construction zones. Kawasaki describes its guard as a rugged metal protector with a laser-cut pattern intended to preserve airflow while shielding the radiator. Keep the fins clean and inspect the guard after debris impacts; a blocked or bent guard can restrict cooling even when it prevents puncture damage.
2. Frame sliders
Frame sliders are intended to help protect bodywork in a slide or low-speed tip-over. Kawasaki explicitly cautions that sliders cannot prevent every type of damage. They are not a substitute for careful parking technique, crash bars where available, or insurance. Kawasaki recommends dealer installation, which is sensible because mounting torque and clearance matter.

- FITMENT: Compatible with 2015-2026 Versys 650 side carrier (If the motorcycle originally came equipped with side cases, you’ll need to remove the shock absorber located behind the passenger footrest.)
- MATERIAL: The pannier racks is made of steel with powder-coated black treatment, which has good rust resistance and is sturdy and durable
- DESIGN: Sleek round frame shape extends your motorcycle storage space, fits most soft luggage bags and gas tanks
- ENHANCED STORAGE: Expands your bike’s carrying capacity, making it ideal for long rides, adventures, or daily commutes
- INSTALLATION: Comes with screw fittings and instructions for a quick and easy installation process without the need for complicated tools
3. Crankcase protector rings
These adhesive-backed rings cover the clutch and alternator cases against abrasion and tip-over contact. Clean, dry surfaces are essential before installation. Follow the supplied preparation and curing instructions so the adhesive bonds properly; fitting them to a dirty or cold case can cause early lifting.

4. Front axle sliders
Front axle sliders are designed to help protect the front axle, axle nut, fork bottoms and brake calipers. They are particularly useful for riders who want a defined sacrificial contact point in a low-side. Verify that the kit is compatible with the wheel and brake arrangement on your model year before installation.
5. Pannier protection foil and inner bags
Protection foil reduces scuffs on the painted or exposed pannier surfaces, while inner bags organize clothing and prevent loose cargo from marking the case interior. Buy these after confirming the exact pannier shape; accessories for another generation may not align with the current cases.
6. Comfort and convenience items
Kawasaki’s catalog also lists heated grips, hand covers, a GPS bracket, a low ERGO-FIT seat that lowers seat height by 20 mm, and a One-Key helmet lock. These are not crash protection, so choose them after the radiator, slider, crankcase and axle priorities unless your riding environment makes cold-weather comfort or reach the immediate safety concern.

Daily commuting and occasional touring
- Start with the S Standard if electronic suspension is not a priority.
- Add the radiator cover and front axle sliders before cosmetic accessories.
- Choose the pannier kit if you regularly carry work equipment or a change of clothes.
- Add heated grips or hand covers only if your climate justifies them.
Solo, multi-day travel
- Compare the S Tourer’s included pannier inner bags with the cost of adding them to an S Standard.
- Use the 56 L panniers for balanced side loading and add the 47 L top case only when its extra volume is necessary.
- Specify the One-Key cylinders and all carrier hardware on the original order.
- Add a GPS bracket, tank pad and protection foil after confirming the luggage fit.
Two-up touring
- Evaluate the S Grand Tourer first because its listed equipment includes pannier inner bags, a top-case backrest and inner bag, fog lights, a GPS bracket and frame sliders.
- Verify that the 47 L top case and backrest are included in your market’s delivered specification.
- Consider the SE when variable passenger and luggage loads make electronic suspension adjustment valuable.
- Check the motorcycle’s loaded weight and your ability to maneuver it before adding maximum luggage.
Riders focused on suspension control
Choose the SE or SE LT when KECS with Skyhook technology is the central reason for upgrading. Do not select it solely for a touring accessory bundle until you have compared the local equipment list: S editions may include accessories that differ from the U.S. SE LT specification.
Ordering checklist: prevent expensive fitment mistakes
- Identify the motorcycle. Record the exact model name, model year, trim and market. Use “Versys 1100” in the parts search even if your original web search used “Versys 900.”
- Separate standard equipment from accessories. Ask the seller to mark each item as factory-fitted, dealer-fitted or optional.
- Quote complete luggage kits. For panniers, confirm both 28 L cases, the fitting kit, color covers or deco parts and One-Key cylinders. For the top case, confirm the 47 L case, carrier plate, cover, aluminium deco plate and cylinder.
- Check helmet fit in person. Bring the helmets you intend to store. Kawasaki’s capacity statement covers most full-face helmets, not every model.
- Confirm key coding. Ask whether the luggage cylinders will be matched to the ignition key before handover.
- Order protection before paint is damaged. Prioritize radiator cover, frame sliders, crankcase rings and axle sliders, then add pannier foil.
- Verify installation requirements. Kawasaki recommends dealer installation for frame sliders; ask which other parts require specified torque, adhesive curing time or electrical work.
- Recheck regional fitment. Equipment, colors, prices, warranty terms and part numbers can change. Obtain the final local Kawasaki parts list in writing.
Weight, reach and real-world practicality
The published 840.74 mm seat height is the standard figure. Kawasaki lists a low ERGO-FIT seat that reduces height by 20 mm, but confirm whether it is available and compatible with your local trim. A lower seat can improve confidence at stops while changing knee bend and seating position, so sit on the motorcycle before ordering.

The 20.8 L tank supports long-distance planning, but the available range depends on speed, load, weather, riding style and traffic. Kawasaki has not established an independent fuel-economy figure in the material available for this guide, so calculate trips from your own observed consumption rather than a guaranteed distance.
The motorcycle’s 259.04 kg curb weight is specified before panniers. Add the cases, carrier hardware, top case and cargo when considering a passenger, a narrow garage or a sloped parking space. Practice moving the loaded motorcycle with the engine off before a trip.
What the published evidence does—and does not—tell you
Kawasaki’s 2026 specification sheet supports the engine, output, tank, seat and curb-weight figures in this guide. Kawasaki’s 2025 accessory and trim material supports the listed luggage, protection and edition equipment. These are manufacturer specifications and catalog descriptions, not independent tests.
No independent fuel-economy, braking-distance or long-term reliability statistic is established here. Do not treat the power and torque figures as acceleration times, or the luggage capacity statements as a guarantee for every helmet. Regional prices, colors, warranty terms, equipment and accessory part numbers require confirmation from the local seller.
Final buying decision
For a simple, configurable build, buy the S Standard and add only the complete luggage and protection parts you need. For regular touring, compare the S Tourer and S Grand Tourer against the cost of buying their listed accessories separately. For riders who value automatic suspension management above all else, choose the SE or SE LT after verifying the local equipment list.
Whatever trim you select, order the 56 L panniers and 47 L top case as complete, model-specific kits, confirm One-Key compatibility, and install protection in the radiator-cover, slider, crankcase-ring and axle-slider sequence. That approach turns the “Versys 900” search into an accurate Versys 1100 purchase matched to your actual riding.
