The “650-mile” figure for the STING Cybertruck is a projection, not a verified road-trip result. Announced in 2024 by Archimedes Defense and Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT, STING pairs a Cybertruck with a planned onboard generator that can burn jet fuel among other fuels and recharge the truck’s battery. It is not a jet-propelled Cybertruck, and current sources do not confirm that the Cybertruck-specific generator is shipping.
How the jet-fueled Cybertruck is supposed to work
STING is a set of Cybertruck packages announced by Archimedes Defense and UP.FIT, Unplugged Performance’s fleet division. Its range-extending component is Archimedes’ AMP Drive G125: a planned, compact 800-volt generator intended to fit in the front trunk (frunk). The companies said it could run on Jet A, JP-8, diesel, or biodiesel and charge the Cybertruck at up to 125 kW. They also described using it to charge other electric vehicles through a NACS cable and adapters. Those are announced capabilities, not independently verified test results. Despite the headline, this is a generator concept, not a jet engine. The generator is meant to produce electricity that replenishes the truck’s battery; the battery continues to power the vehicle.
Where the 650-mile estimate comes from
The headline’s number is a conditional estimate, not a measured drive. New Atlas’s August 2024 report described a possible range of up to 680 miles by combining a full charge supplied by the genset with a stated Cybertruck range of 250–340 miles. The report attributed the projection to Archimedes and noted that the outcome would depend on factors such as battery size, truck trim, and payload.

That arithmetic does not establish how far a STING-equipped truck travels in real conditions. The sources cited here provide no independent test result for STING range, generator charging performance, or fuel consumption. The report also compared its projection with Tesla’s then-advertised 470-mile range-extender option; that is a historical comparison, not a current Tesla specification.
STING package differences
The 2024 announcement described three packages with different equipment and protection claims. The listed features and threat levels are manufacturer descriptions; the reviewed sources do not provide independent ballistic or blast-test evidence.

The descriptions come from the joint announcement and New Atlas’s report. The available information does not establish that every announced configuration is currently offered.
Is the generator available now?
New Atlas reported that the generator was still in development and gave a late-2025 target. That date has passed, but the current Archimedes technology page does not establish that the Cybertruck-specific G125 is finished, shipping, or orderable. It lists AMP-H270 / -G125 in a 100–300 kW-class product family; that listing alone does not confirm STING vehicle availability or delivery timing.

The joint announcement said STING packages were available for preorder in August 2024. New Atlas reported a US$500 reservation amount and roughly US$40,000 for then-available Invincible components, excluding the truck; customized-build prices were not public. These are historical figures, not current quotes or confirmation that reservations remain open. The current Unplugged Performance catalog does not verify STING pricing, order status, or delivery dates. Anyone considering a build should confirm current specifications, costs, and timing directly with the manufacturers.

A generator, armor, and off-road equipment can change a vehicle’s weight, dimensions, and energy use. Tesla’s Cybertruck Owner’s Manual says to use genuine Tesla parts and accessories and warns that unapproved modifications can affect performance and occupant safety; damage caused by such modifications may not be covered by warranty.
