The Conley Stinger 609 was reported in 2012 as a quarter-scale, supercharged four-stroke gasoline V8 for scale-model cars. New Atlas reported a displacement of 6.09 cubic inches (about 100 cc) and output of 9.5 horsepower at 10,000 rpm. That article documented production at the time; it does not establish whether Conley still makes or sells the engine today.
What the Stinger 609 is—and what “in production” means
In its October 2, 2012 report, New Atlas described the Conley Stinger 609 as a quarter-scale V8 designed for scale-model vehicles. These are hobby cars in which builders may prize a realistic engine appearance and sound as much as functional performance. The report called it a supercharged four-cycle gasoline engine and said Conley Precision Engines was producing it then.
That is a historical claim, not confirmation of current production. Current stock, authorized sellers, service and parts availability are not established by the 2012 report, so its “now in production” wording should not be read as a present-day ordering notice.

These are reported specifications, not results from an independent test. The period article said the supercharger added about 60 percent more power, but did not provide a separate naturally aspirated horsepower figure in the information cited here.

Naturally aspirated or supercharged?
The report describes two configurations. The naturally aspirated version avoids the added blower; the supercharged version is the choice for a period-correct blown-engine look and the reported power increase. For a model-car owner, that trade-off is not simply a matter of peak output: appearance and sound are part of the appeal of a miniature V8.

New Atlas identified lubrication and wear at high rpm as engineering challenges. Its account credits cooperation with manufacturing engineers from Sunnen Products Co. and describes cylinder liners that received deep crosshatch honing followed by plateau honing. The report presents this surface-finishing approach as part of addressing wear and lubrication demands; it is not an independently verified performance assessment.
