Two people died when a ute towing a caravan collided with a truck on South Coast Highway near Jerramungup, Western Australia, about midday on Thursday, 17 April 2025, as the Easter long weekend began. The ute’s driver and passenger died at the scene; the truck driver was taken to hospital.
What happened in the Jerramungup crash?
The collision involved a white Isuzu D-MAX ute towing a caravan and a blue Kenworth truck towing trailers. It occurred on South Coast Highway between Jerramungup and Ravensthorpe.
Reports gave slightly different times: 7NEWS reported about 12:10 pm, while PerthNow reported about 12:30 pm. The available accounts therefore place the crash at about midday.
Who was injured or killed?
- The male driver and female passenger in the Isuzu died at the scene.
- The 59-year-old male truck driver was taken to Albany Health Campus for treatment.
What is known about the investigation?
Major Crash investigators were investigating the collision and appealed for witnesses. PerthNow reported that police sought dashcam or mobile-phone footage recorded on the highway between 11 am and 1 pm on 17 April 2025. The reports do not establish what caused the crash or verify any later investigation outcome.

What happened to the highway?
7NEWS reported that South Coast Highway between Brook Road and Rabbit Proof Fence Road reopened on Friday morning with a 40 km/h speed restriction. PerthNow also reported a warning to exercise extreme caution. Those were immediate post-crash conditions reported in April 2025, not current road advice.
In its report, 7NEWS attributed “Exercise extreme caution” to Main Roads WA. It also reproduced a WA Police Force appeal: “The WA Police Force continues to urge all drivers to drive safely and take care on the roads this Easter long weekend.”
