Short answer: available complaint data is not enough to calculate a current Jeep Wagoneer failure rate or name a year to avoid, and dependable Wagoneer-specific repair prices are not established here. The clearest practical steps are to check the exact vehicle’s recall status by VIN, review its service and warranty history, and get a written diagnosis and estimate for any suspected fault.
This guide covers the revived full-size Wagoneer and distinguishes it from the Grand Wagoneer where the evidence allows. Some complaint figures combine historic Wagoneers with newer vehicles, so they should not be read as a verdict on a current model year.
What the available reliability evidence can—and cannot—tell you
ForCar’s aggregation of NHTSA owner complaints, updated October 3, 2026, reports 397 complaints for Wagoneers covering model years 1982–2025. It classifies 136 of those reports under the electrical system. These are owner-submitted report counts combined across historical generations, not verified defect counts or a failure rate. They have no sales or vehicle-population denominator, so they cannot show what share of recent Wagoneers develops an electrical problem or predict the reliability of an individual vehicle. ForCar’s Wagoneer complaint aggregation.
NHTSA says complaints are added to its public database after personal information is removed. Reports can help the agency identify patterns for possible investigation, but a complaint by itself is not an agency finding that a defect exists or that a particular issue has a particular cause. What problems have been reported?
Electrical-system reports
Electrical system is the most frequently named category in the broad complaint aggregation described above. That makes electrical operation a sensible area to ask about when reviewing a particular Wagoneer’s history; it does not establish that a current-generation vehicle has a common electrical defect. Ask whether any electrical concern was diagnosed, repaired, or returned, and have a technician assess symptoms on the vehicle you are considering.
Rearview-camera recall campaign
An official recall document identifies campaign D5B / NHTSA 24V-944 for a rearview-camera issue and names Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in its materials. The campaign document does not mean every model year or VIN is affected. Check the individual vehicle’s current recall status and remedy availability using its VIN. How to check recalls on a Wagoneer
A model search and a VIN lookup answer different questions. NHTSA’s VIN result identifies unrepaired recalls for the specific vehicle; model-level results can show broader recalls, investigations, complaints, and manufacturer communications. Use NHTSA’s recall search or check with Mopar, then ask the seller or dealer for documentation of completed campaigns.
Mopar says affected owners should arrange recall service through an authorized dealer and that recall repairs are performed at no cost. That applies to an eligible recall remedy, not unrelated diagnosis or repairs. Confirm the VIN’s eligibility and the current campaign remedy with the dealer. Mopar recall FAQ.

What does it cost to fix a Jeep Wagoneer?
No dependable, attributable Wagoneer-specific figures for common out-of-warranty repairs are established here. A single universal price range would be misleading: the bill depends on the actual fault, model year and configuration, parts, local labor rates, warranty coverage, and whether the work is a recall remedy.
For a suspected problem, ask a dealer or independent shop for a written, itemized estimate that separates diagnostic findings, parts, labor, and any warranty or recall coverage. If a recall applies, its eligible remedy is handled at no charge under Mopar’s guidance; do not assume that a separate symptom, diagnosis, or repair is included.

Check warranty coverage before paying
Warranty terms and procedures depend on the vehicle’s applicable model-year booklet and its current status. The 2025 warranty booklet describes authorized-dealer service and procedures for emergency warranty repairs performed elsewhere, but it does not establish coverage for every Wagoneer complaint. For a used vehicle, verify the original in-service date, mileage, transfer and coverage terms, and whether the diagnosed condition falls within the applicable warranty. 2025 Jeep Wagoneer warranty booklet.

- Identify the exact vehicle. Record model year, Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer, trim, engine, mileage, and VIN before using complaint or recall information.
- Check its VIN for recalls. Use NHTSA or Mopar, save the result, and ask for documentation showing which campaigns have been completed.
- Review service records. Ask whether any electrical or engine concerns were diagnosed, repaired, or repeated. Treat complaint reports as prompts for questions, not as a diagnosis of this vehicle.
- Verify remaining warranty. Consult the applicable model-year booklet and vehicle-specific records rather than assuming that age, mileage, or a reported problem is covered.
- Get a written inspection and estimate. Have a suspected fault diagnosed and ask the shop to distinguish an eligible recall remedy from an ordinary customer-pay repair.
Mopar lists printed owner’s manuals among its owner publications. If you want a reference for operating and maintaining the vehicle, choose the Wagoneer owner’s manual for the exact model year and Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer variant; it is not a substitute for diagnosis or repair.
