Jeep Renegade vs. Jeep Avenger at a glance
| Question | What is established for the Avenger | What is established for the Renegade | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Position in the range | Jeep/Stellantis announced the Avenger below the Renegade in Europe’s B-SUV segment in 2022. | The announcement used the Renegade as the larger reference point, but did not provide a current global Renegade specification. | Expect the Avenger to target buyers who value a smaller footprint; confirm present-day local dimensions. |
| Powertrains in the reviewed UK range | Petrol, e-Hybrid, full-electric and 4xe Hybrid eAWD are listed in the price list effective 1 April 2026. | Jeep UK’s electrification page lists Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid and Renegade e-Hybrid. | Availability is country-specific; a UK listing is not proof of availability elsewhere. |
| Electric range | Jeep UK’s technical page states 248 miles WLTP for the electric version; type-approval values were updated in May 2026. | No directly equivalent current Renegade range figure was published. | Compare electric with electric, and WLTP with WLTP; do not treat range as a guaranteed trip distance. |
| Boot and towing | Values depend on version and country: UK pages state up to 355 L for electric and 325 L for 4xe; French pages state up to 380 L for petrol/e-Hybrid. | No matching current local figures are published. | Use one country’s official sheet for every vehicle in your comparison. |
| Price evidence | UK list prices include VAT and start at different levels by powertrain, effective 1 April 2026. | No current Renegade list price was published. | A UK Avenger list price is not a Renegade price, a transaction price or a global price. |
How the two SUVs are positioned
Jeep and Stellantis described the Avenger at its 2022 European launch as a model positioned below Renegade in the B-SUV class. That announcement gave the Avenger a length of 4.08 metres and described it as 16 centimetres shorter than Renegade. Those numbers explain the intended relationship: Avenger is the easier-to-place urban-sized option, while Renegade is the larger reference vehicle.
Treat that comparison as launch-era positioning, not a promise that every later trim, facelift or export-market version has the same measurements. Bumpers, four-wheel-drive hardware, wheel designs and market equipment can alter published dimensions. If a garage, narrow street or parking bay is decisive, ask for the current overall length, width including mirrors, height and turning information for the exact vehicle identification number or trim you are considering.

The size question is practical rather than theoretical. A shorter body can simplify parallel parking and manoeuvring, but it does not automatically mean a more useful cabin. Seat travel, rear-seat legroom, door opening and the shape of the load floor determine whether child seats, passengers, pets or a weekly shop fit comfortably. Arrange a physical inspection with the items you actually carry instead of inferring usability from exterior length alone.
Powertrains: what the UK range actually includes
The UK price list effective 1 April 2026 shows that “Avenger” is not synonymous with “electric”. Buyers can select four distinct powertrain types in that listed range:
| Avenger version in the UK list | Drive or energy type | What the evidence establishes | Questions to ask locally |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Internal-combustion engine | Listed as an Avenger starting-price category. | Which engine output, gearbox, emissions rating and towing approval apply to the chosen trim? |
| e-Hybrid | Hybrid petrol system | Listed as a separate UK category. | How the hybrid system operates in this trim, warranty terms, and whether a spare wheel or cargo feature changes usable space. |
| Full-electric | Battery-electric | Jeep UK’s technical page states 156 hp, 248 miles WLTP and up to 355 litres of boot volume; its page says type-approval values were updated in May 2026. | Which charging cable is included, charging rates, battery warranty, and the local tariff and public-charging options. |
| 4xe Hybrid | Hybrid with eAWD | Jeep UK states 145 hp combined, 5.3–5.4 L/100 km, 325 litres of boot volume and towing up to 1,050 kg for this version. | Confirm the exact tow-braked and unbraked limits, nose weight, tyre specification and whether the rating changes with the selected equipment. |
The same badge can therefore represent very different ownership routines. A petrol or e-Hybrid buyer plans around fuel; an electric buyer plans around charging access and journey length; a 4xe buyer also needs to understand the traction system and its approved towing limit. Compare the version that matches your use, not the cheapest badge-level entry.

Jeep UK’s electric technical page gives a 248-mile WLTP range, 156 horsepower and up to 355 litres of boot volume. The page identifies these as type-approval values and notes an update in May 2026. WLTP is a standardized laboratory procedure, useful for comparing vehicles tested under the same method; it is not a guarantee of the miles available on a winter motorway trip.

Temperature, speed, heating or air-conditioning use, payload, tyre pressure, gradients and traffic all affect energy consumption. Before selecting the electric model, map your regular longest journeys and identify where you can charge at home, work or on public networks. Ask the supplying retailer for the exact usable battery capacity, onboard AC capability, DC-rapid-charging specification, cable supplied and battery-cover terms for the local trim. Those details determine how long a stop takes and how much of the published range is practical for your routine.
Do not compare the electric Avenger’s miles figure with a Renegade petrol fuel-economy number as though they were the same measurement. A fair comparison pairs energy type, test method, model year and market. If the Renegade version available to you is a plug-in hybrid, separate its electric-only rating from its combined fuel figure and ask how the test assumes charging.
Avenger 4xe: when traction and towing matter
For the UK 4xe Hybrid version, Jeep states 145 hp combined output, fuel consumption of 5.3–5.4 L/100 km, a 325-litre boot and maximum towing capacity of 1,050 kg. These are version-specific UK figures, not values that can be applied to every Avenger or to a Renegade.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitcheseAWD can be relevant on loose surfaces, steep access roads or in poor weather, but the drivetrain does not remove the need to select suitable tyres, load the trailer correctly and follow the vehicle’s handbook. Confirm whether the quoted limit is for a braked trailer, and obtain the unbraked limit and maximum nose load before buying a caravan, boat trailer or utility trailer. Check the towbar’s approval separately; a vehicle’s headline towing number does not prove that every aftermarket towbar is compatible.

The 4xe’s drivetrain and hardware also explain why its boot figure differs from the electric and front-drive versions. If you carry a dog crate, stroller or tall equipment, measure the floor with the rear seats in both positions. A nominal litre figure describes volume under a defined test, not the shape of the opening or the space above a load cover.
Boot capacity and towing: keep the markets separate
Country-specific pages show why a single internet comparison can mislead. Jeep France lists up to 380 litres for petrol or e-Hybrid Avenger versions and towing up to 1,200 kg for petrol or 1,100 kg for e-Hybrid. Jeep UK’s pages give different figures for different versions, including the 4xe and electric models. The numbers should not be blended into one “Avenger” specification.
| Market and version | Boot volume stated | Towing figure stated | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK electric Avenger | Up to 355 L | Not stated on the UK electric page | Use for a UK electric-versus-Renegade cargo check only after confirming the current trim. |
| UK Avenger 4xe Hybrid | 325 L | Up to 1,050 kg | Apply only to the UK 4xe specification and verify braked/unbraked details. |
| France petrol Avenger | Up to 380 L | Up to 1,200 kg | French-market figure; do not transfer it to a UK car. |
| France e-Hybrid Avenger | Up to 380 L | Up to 1,100 kg | French-market figure for that powertrain; verify the local approval document. |
| Renegade | No current figure is published | No current figure is published | Obtain the exact local Renegade technical sheet before judging it more spacious or more capable. |
UK Avenger prices: useful context, not a head-to-head result
The official UK price list includes VAT and is effective from 1 April 2026. Its starting prices are:
Recommended Free Tools
| UK Avenger powertrain category | Starting price including VAT | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol | £26,610 | Starting price for the listed UK range; trim and equipment are not necessarily equivalent to the other rows. |
| e-Hybrid | £27,610 | Starting price for the listed UK range. |
| Full-electric | £30,099 | Starting price for the listed UK range; incentives, finance and running costs are not included. |
| 4xe Hybrid | £31,840 | Starting price for the listed UK range. |
These are list prices, not negotiated transaction prices or monthly finance payments. They also do not provide a Renegade comparison because no current UK Renegade price was published alongside them. A meaningful quote should match model year, trim, options, delivery charges, tax treatment, warranty and any government incentive. Ask for the vehicle’s on-the-road total and the cost of home-charging equipment if you are considering the electric version.

Which Avenger or Renegade suits a particular use?
Choose the Avenger when compact manoeuvrability is the priority
The Avenger’s launch positioning and shorter stated length make it the logical first vehicle to inspect if you regularly use tight streets, compact parking spaces or a small garage. Confirm the current measurement locally, then test the driver’s seating position, visibility and rear access. A smaller outside footprint is valuable only if the cabin and load area still accept your everyday passengers and equipment.
Choose an Avenger petrol or e-Hybrid when charging is inconvenient
The UK list provides non-electric Avenger choices. They may fit a driver who cannot reliably charge at home or work, or whose routine includes routes where public charging is sparse. Ask the dealer how the specific e-Hybrid operates, because the badge alone does not tell you the system’s battery size, operating modes or service schedule.
Choose the electric Avenger when your routine supports predictable charging
Use the electric version’s published WLTP figure as a comparison baseline, then calculate a personal buffer for weather, speed and payload. It is most straightforward to live with when overnight charging or dependable destination charging is available. Get written confirmation of charging hardware, battery warranty and local software or subscription requirements before signing.
Choose Avenger 4xe when approved towing and eAWD are the deciding factors
The UK 4xe specification combines hybrid power with eAWD and has a published 1,050-kg maximum towing figure. Compare that rating with your trailer’s plated mass, not its empty weight. If your requirement approaches the limit, include passengers, luggage and nose load in the calculation and verify the legal limits in your jurisdiction.

Investigate the Renegade when the Avenger’s size or equipment is insufficient
No current global Renegade dimension, boot figure or price is published here. That is not evidence that Renegade is always larger, cheaper or better equipped in your market; it means the decision requires a current local specification. Inspect the Renegade version you can actually buy and compare rear-seat space, load access, drivetrain, towing approval and standard safety equipment line by line with the Avenger trim you are considering.
Availability: a UK page is not a global promise
Jeep UK’s electrification page lists Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid and Renegade e-Hybrid. This confirms that those versions appeared on a UK market page, but it does not prove that they remain available in every country, that they share the same equipment, or that they are still orderable when you read this article. Production runs, emissions rules and local model-year changes can alter a range.
Check the official site for your registration country, then ask a retailer to confirm build slots, demonstrator cars, delivery timing and parts support. If a model is listed but cannot be ordered, treat it as an informational entry rather than an available buying option.
A step-by-step local comparison method
- Set the market. Use the country where the vehicle will be registered. Record the currency, tax treatment and date shown on each official price or specification sheet.
- Match powertrains. Compare petrol with petrol, hybrid with hybrid and battery-electric with battery-electric. If one vehicle is a plug-in hybrid, document both its charging requirement and its fuel-use test result.
- Match equipment. Build an equipment checklist covering driver-assistance features, lights, climate controls, infotainment, heated seats, wheels, spare-wheel provision and towbar preparation. A lower list price can reflect fewer standard features.
- Record dimensions. Copy overall length, width including mirrors, height, wheelbase, turning information and ground clearance from the exact local trim. Note whether a quoted dimension includes a towbar or roof rails.
- Measure the load space. Test the boot with seats up and folded, measure the opening and floor length, and check under-floor storage. Compare the official litre figure only after confirming the measurement standard.
- Verify towing legally. Read the registration document or conformity paperwork for braked and unbraked trailer limits, maximum nose weight and combined vehicle-and-trailer mass. Match those numbers to your trailer’s plate.
- Calculate ownership cost. Add insurance, road tax, servicing, tyres, charging or fuel, finance interest and optional equipment. The UK Avenger list prices do not include a Renegade quote or finance terms.
- Drive both vehicles. Try low-speed steering, motorway merging, reversing, rear-seat access and your normal parking route. If towing, ask whether a correctly equipped demonstrator can be used with professional guidance.
- Save the paperwork. Keep dated PDFs or printed sheets for the exact trim and market. Model-year pages can change, and a verbal description may not settle a later warranty or specification question.
Common comparison mistakes and how to avoid them
- Calling every Avenger electric. The UK list includes petrol, e-Hybrid, full-electric and 4xe Hybrid versions.
- Using the 2022 launch range as today’s UK range. The original announcement cited 400 km WLTP and 550 km on an urban cycle; the current UK technical page instead states 248 miles WLTP and notes a May 2026 type-approval update.
- Mixing French and UK cargo or towing data. The market and powertrain must travel with every number.
- Treating a list price as a transaction price. Discounts, options, delivery charges, tax and finance can change the amount you pay.
- Assuming a UK availability page applies worldwide. Confirm orderability and specification in the country of registration.
- Comparing incompatible efficiency metrics. Electric miles, hybrid fuel consumption and petrol fuel consumption describe different energy systems and test assumptions.
- Ignoring payload when towing. Trailer mass, passengers, luggage and nose weight all count toward legal limits.
- Choosing from litres alone. The opening shape, seat-fold arrangement and floor height can matter more than a headline volume for bulky objects.
Decision matrix
| Your priority | Start by examining | Evidence to verify before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest practical footprint | Avenger | Current local length, width, turning circle, rear-seat room and parking clearance. |
| No dependable charging access | Avenger petrol or e-Hybrid; locally available Renegade petrol or hybrid if it meets your space needs | Exact engine, gearbox, fuel economy, service schedule and emissions-related costs. |
| Regular home or workplace charging | Electric Avenger | Usable battery, AC/DC charging details, cable, warranty and realistic route buffer. |
| All-weather traction with a trailer | Avenger 4xe or a locally approved Renegade drivetrain | Braked/unbraked limits, nose weight, payload, towbar approval and trailer stability requirements. |
| Maximum cabin or boot utility | Whichever local trim passes your physical load test | Measured opening, seat-fold configuration and current official cargo figure; do not infer from model name. |
| Lowest purchase price | Compare same-market, same-equipment quotes | Dated on-the-road totals, VAT, options, delivery, incentives and finance cost. |
Bottom line
The Avenger is the more compact European choice and offers unusually broad powertrain coverage in the UK range described above. Its electric and 4xe figures are useful only when tied to their stated market and version. The Renegade remains a valid alternative for buyers whose local model has the space, drivetrain or equipment they need, but no universal Renegade-versus-Avenger verdict is justified by these market-specific specifications. Compare current local specifications, physically test the load area, and buy the version that matches your roads, charging access and towing requirement.
