What the public record does show is a rolling collection of dozens of cars and motorcycles, including rare Ferraris, limited-production Lamborghinis, collectible Porsches, McLarens, BMWs, American muscle cars and unusual one-off vehicles. One account put the collection at approximately 68 cars at a particular point; another cited 37 vehicles including motorcycles, while reporting that Jay Kay had owned more than 100 vehicles over his collecting career.
That distinction matters. Many of the most famous cars associated with the Jamiroquai frontman were later offered for sale, so the list below is best read as a record of cars Jay Kay has owned, cars that appeared in his collection or vehicles offered from his collection—not as a claim that every one remains in his garage today.

Who is Jay Kay?
Jay Kay is the stage name of Jason Luís Cheetham, the lead singer of the British acid-jazz and funk band Jamiroquai. His interest in cars became part of his public identity through repeated appearances on British motoring programs and through auction houses that marketed vehicles from his personal collection.

For Jay Kay, cars have also been part of Jamiroquai’s visual language. A Lamborghini Diablo SE30, Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F355 were associated with the band’s “Cosmic Girl” music video, while his black Ferrari Enzo became linked with the song “Black Devil Car.” The vehicles were therefore more than background possessions: some became part of the band’s mythology.

How many cars has Jay Kay owned?
The most accurate answer is dozens currently documented, and more than 100 over the course of his collecting career according to published accounts. An exact present-day number cannot be established from the available evidence.
| Published figure | What it appears to describe | Why it should not be treated as a current total |
|---|---|---|
| Approximately 68 cars | A Top Gear interview connected with Jay Kay’s Ferrari 330 GT Vignale Shooting Brake | It referred to the collection at that particular time and may use a different counting method from later accounts. |
| 37 vehicles, including motorcycles | A figure attributed to a 2010 Top Gear statement | It is an older snapshot and may include or exclude categories counted differently elsewhere. |
| More than 100 vehicles over the years | The reported number of cars Jay Kay had owned during his collecting career | Career ownership is not the same as the number in the garage today. |
Some accounts also refer to motorcycles or “staff cars” when discussing the collection. The differing figures are therefore not necessarily contradictory: they likely reflect different dates, turnover and definitions of what counted as part of the garage.
The Ferrari centerpiece
1965 Ferrari 330 GT Vignale Shooting Brake
One of the most distinctive vehicles associated with Jay Kay is the one-off 1965 Ferrari 330 GT Vignale Shooting Brake. It is not simply a rare Ferrari with an unusual color or specification; it is a bespoke estate-bodied interpretation of the 330 GT.
Jay Kay told Top Gear that he saw the car at Goodwood and bought it because of its rarity and unconventional design. He described it as the final car designed by Vignale and said he drove it regularly, adding approximately 600 miles during his first year of ownership.
The car was later consigned for auction with a reported estimate of approximately £200,000 to £260,000. That establishes it as a former member of Jay Kay’s collection, but it does not support saying that he still owns it or that the estimate was the final selling price.
Ferrari Enzo
Jay Kay’s black Ferrari Enzo is one of the cars most closely tied to his music. Its association with “Black Devil Car” helped make it recognizable beyond Ferrari and collector-car circles. Coverage described the car as having been ordered in black with an unusual green interior—an unusually personal specification for a car already famous for its limited production and Formula One-inspired technology.
A 2025 report claimed that Jay Kay’s Enzo had sold for approximately £3.5 million, after he reportedly bought it for around £400,000 in 2003. The sale and figures were not supported in the research by a directly accessible auction catalog or official result, so they should be treated as reported figures rather than independently verified transaction facts.
Signal-green Ferrari LaFerrari
The Ferrari LaFerrari associated with Jay Kay became famous for its signal-green finish. It was displayed at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where reports highlighted the color as exceptionally unusual. Some coverage described it as the only LaFerrari in that shade at the event; that wording should remain tied to the event and date rather than expanded into a claim that it was the only green LaFerrari in existence.
Its later history is unusually well documented. RM Sotheby’s catalog material recorded that Jay Kay used the car sparingly and that its service history showed just over 3,000 kilometers by the time he parted with it in April 2019. The LaFerrari is a good example of the pattern running through Jay Kay’s collection: a highly exclusive car, an unusual factory specification, public visibility and eventual turnover.
Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F355
A Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F355 appeared in the chase sequence of Jamiroquai’s “Cosmic Girl” video, alongside Jay Kay driving the purple Lamborghini Diablo SE30. Automotive coverage has connected the Ferraris with his collection, but the precise ownership history of every car used in filming is not established strongly enough to claim that each vehicle was definitively owned by Jay Kay at the time.

The unusual and personal cars
Lamborghini Diablo SE30
The purple Lamborghini Diablo SE30 with a blue suede interior is among the most visually memorable cars linked to Jay Kay. The SE30 was Lamborghini’s limited-production, track-focused celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary and is considerably more significant than an ordinary Diablo with a celebrity owner.
Its “Cosmic Girl” appearance gave it pop-culture status, while its limited-production engineering gives it genuine collector importance. The available evidence supports describing it as a notable former or associated Jay Kay car; it does not establish a precise purchase date or current ownership.
1972 BMW 1602
The most sentimental vehicle in the story may be the least exotic. The 1972 BMW 1602 was reportedly Jay Kay’s first car and the vehicle in which he learned to drive. It was offered for sale in 2020, with coverage emphasizing its personal history and its less-than-showroom condition compared with some of the supercars associated with his name.
Its importance is easy to understand: a garage containing million-pound Ferraris and limited-production Lamborghinis still had room for the older BMW that represented the beginning of Jay Kay’s driving life. Its later sale also reinforces why a historical collection list should not be mistaken for a current garage inventory.
Porsches, McLarens and BMW grand tourers
Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight
A 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7-Litre Lightweight Coupé was offered from Jay Kay’s collection in a 2019 Bonhams catalog. The Lightweight is one of the most desirable road-going Porsches of its era, with production limited to approximately 200 examples.
The important point is provenance: the auction catalog documents the car as being offered from Jay Kay’s collection. It does not establish that he retained it after the sale. The RS Lightweight also shows that his taste extended beyond flamboyant modern supercars into historically important competition-bred road cars.
Porsche Carrera GT
Period coverage of Jay Kay’s sales activity also identified a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT among the cars sold or offered from the collection. The Carrera GT occupies a special place in Porsche history as a naturally aspirated, manual-transmission V10 supercar developed with a strong motorsport connection.
As with the 911 Carrera RS, the available evidence establishes a connection with Jay Kay’s collection at the time of the sale activity—not present ownership today.
2016 McLaren 675LT
Silverstone Auctions announced a seven-car Jay Kay collection sale at the 2018 NEC Classic Motor Show. The lead car was a 2016 McLaren 675LT, estimated at £230,000 to £280,000.
The auction house described it as one of 500 built and highlighted more than £50,000 in McLaren Special Operations options. That detail is revealing: Jay Kay’s collecting was not confined to old Italian exotics. He also bought modern performance cars where specification, rarity and factory personalization were central to the appeal.

The same 2018 Silverstone announcement included a 1996 BMW 850 CSi with a manual gearbox and a recorded 12,777 miles. It was described as one of just 138 UK-supplied cars and carried an estimate of £80,000 to £100,000.

The 850 CSi is a technically distinctive grand tourer rather than a conventional supercar. Its presence helps explain why Jay Kay’s garage attracted interest from enthusiasts who value engineering, rarity and long-distance character as much as outright performance.
Porsche 911 Targa 4S
The 2018 sale also included a 2015 Porsche 911 Targa 4S from the 991 generation. Finished in Night Blue Metallic with a black interior, it had covered approximately 11,600 miles.
Unlike the one-off Ferrari or limited-production Porsche, the Targa represented a relatively modern, usable performance car. Its inclusion illustrates the breadth of the collection: Jay Kay’s cars were not all museum pieces or headline hypercars.
Other cars linked to the collection
Published auction and automotive coverage has also identified the following vehicles as part of Jay Kay’s collection or sales activity:
- Ford Mustang 390GT: an American muscle car associated with the “Bullitt” tradition.
- 2016 Ferrari F12tdf: named in reporting from the same period as other cars offered for auction.
- Range Rover 4.5 SE: modified by Kingsley, showing that the collection included customized luxury and off-road vehicles as well as sports cars.
- 2003 Suzuki GSX-R600: one of the motorcycles associated with the garage.
- 1989 Kawasaki Z1000 replica: another motorcycle identified in coverage of the collection.
These vehicles matter because they prevent the usual shorthand—“Jay Kay owns a lot of Ferraris”—from becoming the whole story. The documented collection crosses nationalities, decades, body styles and intended uses.
What makes Jay Kay’s collection distinctive?
1. Specification matters as much as price
The most memorable cars are often memorable because of their details: the signal-green LaFerrari, the black Ferrari Enzo with green interior and the one-off Vignale Shooting Brake. Jay Kay’s choices suggest an interest in visual identity and unusual configuration, not simply in buying the most expensive car available.
2. The garage spans multiple automotive eras
The documented vehicles range from 1970s classics such as the BMW 1602 and Porsche Carrera RS, through 1980s and 1990s performance cars such as the Lamborghini Diablo SE30 and BMW 850 CSi, to modern supercars and hypercars including the McLaren 675LT, Ferrari F12tdf, LaFerrari and Enzo. American muscle, Range Rovers and motorcycles broaden the picture further.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3. Some cars were genuinely driven
Jay Kay’s comments about putting approximately 600 miles on the Vignale Shooting Brake during his first year of ownership suggest that at least some cars were bought to be used rather than simply stored. The LaFerrari tells a different story: its catalog history recorded only a little over 3,000 kilometers by April 2019.
Those contrasting mileages do not prove a universal rule about how Jay Kay treated his cars, but they do show two sides of the collection: unusual classics that could be driven and highly sensitive modern exotics that were used sparingly.
4. The cars crossed into music culture
The “Cosmic Girl” Lamborghini, Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F355, together with the Enzo’s “Black Devil Car” association, gave the garage a cultural life beyond auction catalogs. For music fans, the cars are part of Jamiroquai’s imagery. For collectors, their appearance in videos adds provenance and narrative—although it should never replace proper documentation of a vehicle’s identity and ownership history.

- 2018: Silverstone Auctions announced seven vehicles from Jay Kay’s collection for the NEC Classic Motor Show. The group included the McLaren 675LT, BMW 850 CSi, Porsche 911 Targa 4S and Ford Mustang.
- 2018: The one-off Ferrari 330 GT Vignale Shooting Brake was reported as heading to auction with an estimate of approximately £200,000–£260,000.
- 2019: Jay Kay parted with the signal-green LaFerrari in April. RM Sotheby’s later catalog material recorded its low mileage and service history.
- 2019: Bonhams listed the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight as offered from Jay Kay’s collection. Related reporting also named the Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari F12tdf among cars sold or offered.
- 2020: The 1972 BMW 1602, described as Jay Kay’s first car, was offered for sale.
This chronology is the key to understanding the garage. It was not a static museum with a permanent published inventory. Cars entered, were driven, displayed, associated with Jamiroquai’s music and then sometimes sold. A list assembled from auction catalogs will therefore describe different moments in time.

Can Jay Kay’s collection be valued?
It is possible to see why the collection is described as multimillion-dollar: individual cars such as the Ferrari Enzo, LaFerrari, Carrera GT and Porsche 911 Carrera RS can command substantial sums, depending on condition, provenance, mileage, specification and market timing. But a precise total for Jay Kay’s garage would be misleading.
The public figures include auction estimates, reported prices and values attached to different years and currencies. Some cars were sold, some were merely offered, and the current status of many others is unknown. Adding those numbers together would mix historical snapshots and could create a fictional current net-worth figure.
The reported Enzo sale is a good example of the problem. The approximately £3.5 million figure has appeared in recent reporting, but the research did not locate a directly accessible official result to independently verify it. It should not be presented as settled fact or used to calculate Jay Kay’s total wealth.
What Jay Kay owns now: the careful answer
No authoritative, continuously updated inventory was located that establishes every car Jay Kay currently owns. The safest wording is therefore:
- Jay Kay has owned dozens of vehicles.
- Published accounts say he has owned more than 100 vehicles over the years.
- Several famous cars were offered from or sold out of his collection.
- The Ferrari Enzo, LaFerrari, Vignale Shooting Brake, Diablo SE30, Porsche Carrera RS and other cars should not automatically be described as current possessions.
A social-media claim that Jay Kay was collecting a Ferrari F80 was not treated as verified ownership because it lacked a primary Ferrari, dealer, auction or independently authenticated vehicle record. Celebrity-car rumors often confuse a sighting, a loan, a proposed purchase or a display appearance with ownership.
The verdict
Jay Kay’s garage is best understood as a changing collection built around rarity, character and unusual specification. The headline Ferraris provide the multimillion-pound glamour, but the broader story is richer: a one-off Vignale Shooting Brake, a purple Diablo SE30 from “Cosmic Girl,” a manual BMW 850 CSi, a limited Porsche RS Lightweight, modern McLaren and Porsche models, American muscle, motorcycles and the humble BMW 1602 in which he learned to drive.
That mix is why the collection remains interesting even without a definitive current total. The most honest description is not “Jay Kay currently owns these exact cars,” but rather “these are the remarkable vehicles that have passed through, appeared in or been documented as part of the Jamiroquai singer’s garage.”
Frequently Asked Questions
How many cars does Jay Kay own?
There is no verified current total. Published accounts have variously cited approximately 68 cars at one point, 37 vehicles including motorcycles in a 2010 account, and more than 100 vehicles owned over his collecting career. Those figures describe different dates or counting methods, not a definitive present-day inventory.
Does Jay Kay still own the Ferrari LaFerrari?
No. RM Sotheby’s catalog material records that Jay Kay parted with his signal-green LaFerrari in April 2019. The car had just over 3,000 kilometers recorded in its service history at that time.
What car did Jay Kay drive in the “Cosmic Girl” video?
Jay Kay drove a purple Lamborghini Diablo SE30 with a blue suede interior. A Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F355 also appeared in the video’s chase sequence. The precise ownership history of every car used in filming should not be overstated.
What was Jay Kay’s first car?
The 1972 BMW 1602 was reportedly Jay Kay’s first car and the vehicle in which he learned to drive. It was offered for sale in 2020.

Jay Kay’s collection is not a fixed, publicly verified fleet but a changing archive of rare and characterful vehicles. The documented cars include headline Ferraris, a one-off Vignale Shooting Brake, a Lamborghini Diablo SE30, collectible Porsches, McLarens, BMWs, a Mustang, motorcycles and the sentimental BMW 1602. Because many were later sold, any exact claim about what remains in his garage today should be treated with caution.
