The 21st Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCS), held October 3, 2026, in Long Beach, put Japanese classics and their culture before a broad enthusiast audience. Mark Vaughn’s October 5 Autoweek report presents the event as part of Japanese cars’ growing visibility in collector-car circles—but the examples it cites show increased attention, not a measured rise in market values.
What the 2026 Japanese Classic Car Show was
JCCS describes itself as a celebration of vintage Japanese automobiles and the culture around them. It traces the show to an idea among Southern California enthusiasts about 20 years before the 2026 edition and calls itself America’s first and original show dedicated to old-school Japanese cars. The event’s own language also includes “kyusha,” a term used for old Japanese cars, alongside “Japanese classic cars”; “JDM” appears in its event hashtags. JCCS’s official homepage
The 21st show took place Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Marina Green Park, 386 E. Shoreline Drive, Long Beach, California. The event-day notice listed hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. JCCS event-day notice
Why the show matters to collector-car culture
Vaughn’s report points to several signs that Japanese cars are receiving more institutional and public attention: a Japanese-car class at Pebble Beach, Japanese race cars at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and year-round museum exhibits. JCCS itself adds a dedicated gathering where enthusiasts can see vintage cars and related culture together. These are examples of visibility and recognition, not a quantified measure of how the collector-car market is changing. Autoweek’s October 5, 2026 report

That distinction matters. The available reporting does not supply a named, methodologically documented attendance count or a set of verified sales transactions establishing broad price appreciation. Autoweek describes thousands of fans and mentions six-figure restoration and auction values, but the cited passage does not identify an event-published attendance tally or specific transactions behind those figures. JCCS is evidence of an active enthusiast scene; it is not, by itself, proof that Japanese classics as a category are rising in value.
Cars and heritage on display
Vaughn reports that Nissan’s Z Kaze concept appeared at JCCS after its reveal at ZCON and was expected to appear later at SEMA in Nissan’s booth. Separately, JCCS thanked Toyota USA for displaying a 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition and a 2026 GR Corolla Premium Plus. The homepage’s acknowledgment establishes Toyota’s participation; it does not establish that Toyota sponsored the show. JCCS homepage
There is also a restoration and preservation dimension beyond the show floor. Toyota’s March 23, 2026 release describes GR Heritage Parts activity involving the AE86 and Supra. That is a separate manufacturer heritage initiative—not a JCCS program or a guarantee that a particular part is available or fits a specific car. Owners should verify year, model, and part availability before ordering. Toyota’s heritage-activities release

Which cars qualified for the 2026 show
JCCS’s 2026 entry criteria covered Japanese-brand vehicles manufactured in 1995 or earlier. Eligible cars could be stock, survivors, period-style builds, modified cars, or restomods, but they had to be operational and drivable and remained subject to individual review. Registration closed when available spaces filled, and a car’s prior participation did not guarantee acceptance. These rules describe the 2026 event, not a promise of eligibility for a future edition.
