Jaguar unveiled the all-electric Type 01 in New York on 6 October 2026. The luxury four-door GT is the first production Jaguar built on the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Jaguar says the starting price will be £130,000 and orders are scheduled to open in early 2027.
What is the Jaguar Type 01?
Jaguar describes the Type 01 as a luxury, all-electric four-door GT. It is the first production model on Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA, a dedicated EV platform. Jaguar says the car is designed, engineered and built in the UK.
The company calls it its most technologically advanced and powerful Jaguar to date. That is Jaguar’s characterization; its launch announcement did not provide a complete set of performance figures or independent test results.
How much will the Jaguar Type 01 cost, and when can you order it?
Jaguar announced a starting price of £130,000 and said orders are scheduled to open in early 2027. These are manufacturer-announced details; they do not establish pricing for every market or mean orders are currently available. Is the Type 01 the production version of the Type 00?
Yes. Jaguar describes the Type 00 as a non-production vehicle and the Type 01 as the car entering production. The concept and production model should therefore be treated as distinct: Type 00 introduced a design direction, while Type 01 is the announced production vehicle. Jaguar’s campaign materials make that distinction.
Why is it called Type 01?
Jaguar announced the Type 01 name on 13 May 2026. The company’s explanation is that “zero” signifies a brand reset and “1” represents its first car for a new chapter. Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s managing director, described the name as part of that story and called the car “one of a kind.” Jaguar’s naming announcement contains his explanation.

What has Jaguar not confirmed in the launch announcement?
The reviewed launch announcement does not establish a range figure, battery capacity, charging rate, acceleration time or a complete set of power and performance specifications. Those details should not be inferred from Jaguar’s positioning of the Type 01 as powerful or technologically advanced.
Jaguar staged the world premiere in New York, including a digital reveal and an event at STORIED in West Chelsea. The company also named actor Florence Pugh as the new era’s inaugural brand ambassador; singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro performed at the event. Those launch details do not add technical information about the car.
