RM25,000–RM35,000 can be a useful budget for a new motorcycle in Malaysia, but it is not a single engine class or riding category. The choices range from roadsters and sport bikes to scooters, adventure tourers and cruisers—and include a 693cc model alongside many bikes in the 390cc–500cc range. Start with how and where you ride, then compare the exact variant, on-road price and ownership support. Prices below are a dated market snapshot, not guaranteed current offers.
What does RM25,000–RM35,000 buy?
A Malaysian market overview published on 6 October 2026 groups a variety of motorcycles in this price band. Its model list is an editorial snapshot, not an independently audited inventory of bikes currently in stock. The figures illustrate the range of options; confirm the current variant, price, exclusions and availability with a local dealer before making a decision. Paul Tan’s market overview

Some figures come from older launch announcements, and the market overview does not establish that every listed motorcycle remains available at its quoted price. A quoted base or recommended retail price is not necessarily the amount you will pay to ride away: check whether registration, road tax, insurance and accessories are included, and ask about current promotions and stock.
Choose by the riding you actually do
For commuting and everyday road use
A naked bike such as the 450NK is a natural starting point if most of your riding is on paved roads and you want a straightforward roadster format. A scooter such as the SR450X offers a different practical layout. Compare seating position, storage, traffic manoeuvrability and service access in person; the price list alone does not establish which will suit your daily route.

For sport riding
The SRK450RR, 450SR and 500RR show that sport-oriented choices also fit the band. Compare the riding position and engine character as well as the equipment on the exact Malaysian variant. The market overview names these models but is not a standardized performance test, so its listing should not be read as proof that one is faster or better on the road.
For touring and mixed surfaces
Adventure-labelled motorcycles cover different needs. The overview describes the KLE500 and Himalayan 450 as more off-road oriented than the road-focused NX500. That distinction is a useful prompt, not a substitute for comparing the particular bike’s wheel sizes, suspension, seat height, ergonomics, wind protection and luggage options. A rider who rarely leaves tarmac may value road manners and touring comfort more than rough-road capability.

The 450MTX, Alltrhike 450 and T502X add further choices around the lower end of the listed adventure prices. Check their local specifications and support rather than assuming that similar prices mean comparable equipment or service arrangements.
For a retro or cruiser format
The 450CL-C puts a cruiser-style option into the budget, but its RM25,888 figure was announced in May 2024 and excluded insurance and road tax. Treat it as an older launch price and ask a dealer for a current, itemized quote.

Why displacement alone is a poor shortlist
Most of the models highlighted in the 2026 overview sit around 390cc–500cc, but the CFMOTO 700MT shows that the budget also reaches a 693cc adventure tourer. CFMOTO Malaysia announced the 700MT at RM33,888 on 20 March 2025, excluding road tax and insurance. The announcement specifies a 693cc twin producing 50kW at 9,500 rpm and 60Nm at 6,000 rpm. For another example of a published manufacturer specification, CFMOTO Malaysia lists the 450SR as a 449.3cc parallel twin producing 37kW at 9,500 rpm and 39Nm at 7,600 rpm. The company cautions that models may differ to meet regional rules and local requirements, so check that the specification applies to the Malaysian motorcycle you are considering. Prices in this band need to be compared on the same basis. For the KLE500, MODENAS confirms a recommended retail price of RM32,900 excluding insurance and road tax. CFMOTO’s 700MT announcement also excludes both; its 450CL-C launch announcement excludes insurance and road tax. The market overview’s reported figures for other models do not, by themselves, establish a current on-road price or a consistent set of inclusions.
Variant matters too. Royal Enfield Malaysia’s page displays MYR 32,700 for the Himalayan 450 Mana Black, while the October 2026 market overview describes the range as starting from RM30,600. These are not interchangeable quotes for the same variant. Ask which version a dealer is pricing and what the total includes. Assess ownership support, not just the spec sheet
The market overview notes that established Japanese makers have longer local histories and extensive dealer networks. It also reports that some Malaysian riders have concerns about reliability and parts availability for newer Chinese brands, while describing those brands as offering a value or equipment advantage. These are reported buyer perceptions and broad market observations, not measured comparisons of reliability, repair times or ownership cost. The sources do not provide a standardized reliability test or a total-cost-of-ownership study.
Before committing, ask the dealer about warranty terms, scheduled maintenance, parts ordering and availability, and how far you may need to travel for servicing. Check what is covered in writing and whether the support is practical for where you live and ride. Also compare the motorcycle’s ergonomics and equipment in person: a long list of features does not tell you whether the seat, reach to the bars or suspension suits you.
