Autocar also reported that the Type 01 is expected to reach the market in the first half of 2027. Jaguar had confirmed the reveal schedule but had not announced a precise first-delivery date, so the reported window should not be treated as a guaranteed delivery commitment.
What powertrain and performance has Jaguar confirmed?
Jaguar describes the Type 01 as an electric car with tri-motor technology. Its May 13, 2026 naming announcement gives output of more than 1,000 PS and torque of over 1,300 Nm. These are manufacturer-stated figures, not a final trim-by-trim specification. The US release gives the power figure as 986 HP and torque as 959 ft-lbs.
There is no internal-combustion engine: references to the Type 01’s “engine” mean its electric motors. Jaguar’s name explanation says “Type” refers to the marque’s history, “0” represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” marks the first Jaguar of a new era.
What battery, range and charging figures have been reported?
Top Gear reported a 120 kWh battery, 850 V architecture and charging capability of up to 350 kW, alongside a range target of more than 400 miles. Jaguar’s official releases reviewed before the scheduled reveal did not confirm those as final specifications. Accordingly, the battery capacity, peak charging figure and range should be treated as reported details rather than settled buying specifications. A peak charging rate alone also does not establish how long a charge takes; a charging curve and test conditions would be needed for a meaningful comparison.
What does the Type 01 look like inside and out?
Cabin layout and materials
Jaguar’s pre-production interior presentation shows a central spine running lengthwise through the cabin and dividing it into four individual spaces. Other described features include a low driving position, a slim dashboard, infotainment and a centrally positioned digital ClearSight rear-view display at the base of the windscreen.

Jaguar says the interior palette and materials draw inspiration from travertine and artisan textiles, with brass-inspired finishes. These are the company’s descriptions of the pre-production cabin, not a confirmation that every detail will appear unchanged in customer cars.

Jaguar’s Monaco presentation describes a long hood, bold scale and distinctive proportions. Because the car shown is a pre-production prototype, its final production details and market specifications may differ.

What is the Type 01’s place in Jaguar’s plans?
