Short answer: The Lucid Air has the stronger published range and clearer current U.S. pricing, while the Jaguar I-PACE is the relevant Jaguar electric car you can still find as legacy inventory. Jaguar’s next-generation Type 01 has been unveiled but is not scheduled for customer deliveries until the second half of 2027. Lucid quotes up to 512 miles of EPA-estimated range for the 2026 Air Grand Touring, compared with Jaguar UK’s up-to-292-mile (470-km) I-PACE figure from European manufacturer testing. Those numbers are not a laboratory head-to-head: they use different markets, test systems, configurations and conditions.
What this comparison actually covers
“Jaguar electric car” can mean two different products at the moment. The I-PACE is Jaguar’s established battery-electric SUV and the model represented in the current consumer information reviewed for this comparison. Jaguar has also unveiled the Type 01, its next-generation electric model. Jaguar’s U.S. support information says retailers continue selling legacy products until Type 01 deliveries begin, so Type 01 is a future product rather than an on-sale equivalent to the Lucid Air.

Jaguar announced the Type 01 on October 6, 2026. The company says orders are expected to open in early 2027 and first client deliveries are expected in the second half of 2027. That announcement does not establish a price, driving range, seat specification or ride-comfort measurement. It would be misleading to fill those gaps with estimates.
The practical comparison, therefore, is:
- Jaguar I-PACE: an existing model that may be available through remaining or retailer inventory, with a published UK range figure.
- Lucid Air: a current sedan line with announced 2026 U.S. trims, prices and EPA-estimated range.
- Jaguar Type 01: a future Jaguar to watch if your purchase can wait until 2027, but not a vehicle you can spec against the Air today.
Check your country and retailer before treating availability as guaranteed. Jaguar’s U.S. specification page did not provide usable I-PACE specification data when reviewed, and no current U.S. I-PACE MSRP or EPA range is asserted here.

The table is a starting point, not a winner scorecard. The range figures come from different regulatory environments, and the comfort observations are not from a controlled back-to-back test.
Which has more range: Jaguar I-PACE or Lucid Air?
Jaguar’s published I-PACE number
Jaguar’s UK all-electric-car page lists the I-PACE at up to 292 miles (470 km). Jaguar identifies this as an official manufacturer test figure under EU legislation and warns that “Real world figures may differ.” The result can change with temperature, speed, traffic, terrain, climate-control use, battery condition, wheel and tire fitment, and how the vehicle is driven. The figure is from Jaguar’s UK consumer page, not a confirmed U.S. EPA rating.
That distinction matters for American shoppers. The current Jaguar U.S. I-PACE specifications page did not load specification data in the reviewed material, so the UK number should not be presented as a U.S. EPA result. A retailer should confirm the exact vehicle’s certification, equipment and remaining warranty before purchase.

Lucid’s July 22, 2025 announcement for its 2026 U.S. lineup gives the Air Grand Touring up to 512 miles of EPA-estimated range. The same announcement gives the 2026 Air Touring 431 miles EPA-estimated. Both are manufacturer-published estimates for named 2026 variants, not results from an independent comparison drive.

On the published figures alone, the Air Grand Touring has a headline advantage of 220 miles over the I-PACE’s 292-mile UK figure, and the Air Touring has a 139-mile advantage. Arithmetic does not make those an apples-to-apples test: the Jaguar value is a European test-cycle result in a different market, while Lucid’s values are U.S. EPA estimates. Configuration, wheel fitment and test conditions also differ.
How to use the numbers for a real trip
Use the official value as an upper-bound planning reference, then build in a buffer. A long motorway trip in cold weather can consume substantially more energy than a mild-weather mixed-route commute. Conversely, a lightly loaded car at moderate speed may travel farther than a worst-case assumption. Compare cars using the same route, season, speed and charging stops rather than subtracting one certification number from another.
- Confirm the exact trim and wheel size on the vehicle you are considering.
- Check whether the number shown is EPA, WLTP or another regional test cycle.
- Look at the route’s charger spacing, not just the car’s maximum range.
- Ask the seller for the battery-health information and software status on a used or legacy I-PACE.
Price and availability: what can you buy now?
Lucid Air pricing in the published 2026 announcement
Lucid’s announcement lists U.S. starting prices of $70,900 for the 2026 Air Pure and $79,900 for the 2026 Air Touring. These are announcement prices for the model year, not a promise that every dealer, option package, destination charge, tax treatment or later inventory listing will show the same amount. The cited announcement does not provide a Grand Touring price, so no Grand Touring MSRP is supplied here.

Jaguar I-PACE pricing
The reviewed Jaguar U.S. I-PACE specification and pricing page did not provide usable data, and the Type 01 reveal did not disclose a price. There is therefore no source-backed current U.S. Jaguar price to place beside the Lucid figures. Remaining I-PACE examples may be new legacy stock, demonstrators or used vehicles, each with a different transaction price and warranty status.
Ask a Jaguar retailer to confirm:
- Whether the vehicle is new, demonstrator or used.
- The build year, first-registration date and remaining battery warranty.
- Destination and documentation charges.
- Included charging cables, software subscriptions and roadside assistance.
- Whether the quoted price depends on financing, trade-in or a temporary incentive.
What the Type 01 timeline means for shoppers
Jaguar’s corporate announcement says, “Orders for Jaguar Type 01 open in early 2027, with first client deliveries expected in the second half of the year.” That is an expected schedule, not a guaranteed delivery date. Until Jaguar publishes specification, range, pricing and market-by-market order details, the Type 01 cannot be a numerical substitute for the I-PACE or Air.
Which car is more comfortable?
There is no controlled Jaguar-versus-Lucid comfort test in the available evidence, so a definitive comfort winner would overstate what is known. Separate the evidence into equipment, manufacturer descriptions and subjective road impressions.
Lucid Air comfort equipment
Lucid says the 2026 lineup receives an air-conditioning compressor intended to improve cooling capacity and a quieter interior. The Air Grand Touring adds 20-way power memory front seats with adjustable bolsters, heating, ventilation and massage. Those are published equipment claims; they do not quantify ride harshness, seat pressure distribution or cabin noise in decibels.

A Tom’s Guide review of the 2026 Air Touring described its front seats as soft and plush and said the reviewer used the massage function on long drives. That is one reviewer’s impression of one vehicle, not an independent laboratory result and not a matched I-PACE comparison. Read it as evidence that the Touring’s seating was subjectively comfortable for that driver, not as proof that every occupant will prefer it.
What Jaguar establishes
Jaguar’s UK consumer page describes the I-PACE as near-silent. Electric powertrains are inherently quiet at low speed, but tire noise, road surface, wind, suspension tuning and wheel choice still shape perceived comfort. The cited Jaguar material does not provide a measured cabin-noise figure, a standardized ride score or a seat-adjustment comparison with the Air.
How to test comfort properly
- Set the seat before driving. Adjust cushion angle, lumbar support, steering reach and mirror position. Spend several minutes in the parked car to identify pressure points.
- Drive three surfaces. Include smooth pavement, expansion joints and a rough secondary road. A quiet showroom cannot reveal suspension impact or tire thump.
- Use the same occupants. Rear-seat legroom, cushion height and door opening can matter more than a front-seat feature list for family use.
- Test climate control. Run cooling and heating at realistic settings, especially if you live in a hot or cold region.
- Evaluate controls at night. A comfortable seat does not compensate for difficult-to-reach climate or charging controls on a long trip.
For a used I-PACE, inspect seat wear, bolster support, climate performance and suspension noises. For an Air, confirm that the exact trim includes the seat functions you expect; equipment can vary by trim and model year.

Lucid’s Tesla Supercharger access
Lucid announced that Air owners could access compatible Tesla Superchargers with an approved adapter. The same July 2025 announcement listed Lucid’s NACS-to-CCS1 adapter at $220 before U.S. tax. Lucid Senior Vice President of Powertrain Emad Dlala called access to the Tesla Supercharging network “yet another major milestone.”

Adapter compatibility can depend on vehicle software, charger configuration and the specific station. Confirm current eligibility, ordering status and price with Lucid before buying; the $220 figure is the company’s 2025 announcement price and may not be the live price. Do not assume an unapproved third-party adapter will work safely or be supported.
Planning around the I-PACE
Jaguar’s UK page discusses overnight home charging, but installation requirements and partner availability vary by country and property. Have an electrician verify panel capacity, cable routing, earthing and local code requirements. On public trips, confirm that the connector, payment method and station access work for the exact I-PACE in your market.
Range versus charging convenience
The Air’s published range can reduce the number of charging stops, while an I-PACE may fit buyers who mostly charge at home and drive shorter daily distances. A car with less certified range can still be easier to live with if your home charging is reliable and your regular routes have convenient stations. Conversely, frequent intercity driving makes route coverage and stop time as important as the maximum-mile figure.

Choose the Lucid Air when…
- You want the strongest published U.S. range figure and are considering a 2026 model-year sedan.
- You need a current U.S. starting-price reference, with Pure at $70,900 and Touring at $79,900 in Lucid’s announcement.
- You value available comfort equipment such as ventilated, heated and massage-equipped front seats on the Grand Touring.
- You regularly travel long distances and can use compatible fast-charging infrastructure, including Tesla Superchargers with Lucid’s approved adapter where supported.
Choose an I-PACE when…
- You prefer an SUV body style and find a well-priced, inspected legacy example through a retailer.
- Your driving is mostly local and overnight home charging covers your routine.
- You have verified the exact car’s warranty, battery condition, software and charging compatibility instead of relying on a generic model-year listing.
- You value Jaguar’s quiet-cabin character and want a vehicle available before the Type 01 launch window.
Wait for the Type 01 when…
- You specifically want Jaguar’s next-generation electric design and can wait for orders expected in early 2027.
- You accept that first deliveries are only expected in the second half of 2027.
- You are prepared to reassess after Jaguar publishes the Type 01’s price, range, equipment and market availability.
A buyer’s checklist before signing
- Define the market. EPA, EU and other test-cycle figures are not interchangeable. Record the country in which the vehicle will be registered.
- Write down the exact trim and wheels. Range and equipment can change with variant and wheel fitment.
- Get a dated quote. Include destination, taxes, options, incentives and financing conditions.
- Inspect charging access. Verify home electrical capacity and public-station compatibility for your route.
- Test comfort over distance. Drive enough to expose seat pressure, suspension response and climate performance.
- Check support. Confirm the retailer’s service capability, software-update process, roadside assistance and parts availability.
- For a future Type 01, wait for specifications. Do not place a deposit based only on a reveal image or an expected date.
Verdict
The Lucid Air is the more compelling choice if your decision is driven by published range, transparent current U.S. pricing and documented high-end seat equipment. The 2026 Grand Touring’s 512-mile EPA estimate and the Touring’s 431-mile estimate are far above Jaguar’s UK I-PACE figure of up to 292 miles, although the different test systems prevent a strict numerical shootout.
The I-PACE remains relevant as an existing Jaguar electric SUV, particularly when a retailer has a suitable legacy example at a price you can verify. Its U.S. price and EPA range are not established by the current Jaguar material reviewed here, so inspect the individual vehicle rather than assuming the UK specification applies.
The Type 01 is a separate future decision: orders are expected in early 2027 and deliveries in the second half of 2027, with price and range still undisclosed. Treat it as a reason to wait, not as a present-day rival with specifications that have not been published.
