Jaguar’s electric-car range is between generations. The I-PACE is the established all-electric SUV, with Jaguar UK quoting a 90 kWh battery and up to 292 miles (470 km) of WLTP range. It is now most relevant as existing dealer stock or a used car while Jaguar transitions to the Type 01, a forthcoming electric four-door GT announced on 6 October 2026. Jaguar quotes 400 miles on the EPA cycle, more than 1,000 PS and 200 miles added in 13 minutes on a 350 kW charger for Type 01. Orders are due to open in early 2027, with first client deliveries expected in the second half of 2027.
Those headline numbers use different test cycles and describe different vehicles. Before buying, verify local availability, the exact model year and specification, battery condition, warranty remaining, home-charging capability and the public charging network on your regular routes.

I-PACE: the current car you can actually encounter
Jaguar describes the I-PACE as its first all-electric SUV. Jaguar UK’s official guidance lists a 90 kWh battery, up to 292 miles (470 km) of WLTP range and 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds. It also states battery coverage of up to eight years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever comes first.

Confirm those details from the vehicle identification number, service records and the selling dealer before treating the published figures as applicable to a specific car.
Type 01: Jaguar’s next-generation electric GT
Jaguar unveiled Type 01 on 6 October 2026. It is described as a luxury four-door grand tourer and the first production Jaguar built on the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The launch announcement specifies an 850-volt electrical architecture, more than 1,000 PS and a quoted 400-mile EPA range.
Jaguar says orders will open in early 2027 and first client deliveries are expected in the second half of 2027. The announcement does not establish a retail price, complete trim range, final market-by-market specification or independently tested road range. Treat the performance and charging figures as launch-announcement claims until final certification and customer cars are available.

Why Jaguar availability is difficult to read
JLR’s FY25/26 annual report says 2025 marked the final chapter for outgoing Jaguar models. F-PACE production concluded at Solihull, while E-PACE, XEL and XFL production concluded in China. The report also discusses development of the first new Jaguar production car.

That confirms a manufacturing transition, not a universal statement that every country has no new Jaguar stock. A dealer may still hold an unsold car, demonstrator or pre-owned vehicle. Ask whether a car is factory-new, dealer stock, a demonstrator or used, and check its build date and registration status.
Jaguar EV specifications at a glance
| Model | Type and status | Battery or architecture | Published range | Published performance or charging | What is not yet established |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| I-PACE | All-electric SUV; existing stock and used-market relevance | 90 kWh battery | Up to 292 miles (470 km), WLTP | 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds | Condition and remaining warranty of an individual used car |
| Type 01 | Luxury four-door electric GT; orders planned for early 2027 | Dedicated JEA platform; 850-volt architecture | 400 miles, EPA, as announced | More than 1,000 PS; up to 200 miles added in 13 minutes with a 350 kW charger, as announced | Retail price, final trims, market specifications, final certification and independent road-test results |
The table is not a direct performance ranking. The I-PACE figure is WLTP, while Type 01’s is EPA; the cycles use different procedures and are tied to different markets and certification systems.

I-PACE’s 292-mile figure is WLTP
Jaguar UK quotes “up to” 292 miles (470 km) for the I-PACE under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). “Up to” matters: the number is a laboratory certification result for the relevant specification, not a promise that every journey will deliver 292 miles.
Jaguar’s own range guidance identifies driving style, environmental conditions, vehicle load, wheels, accessories, route and battery condition as influences. In practical use, sustained motorway speed, cold weather, heating, strong headwinds, roof equipment, heavy cargo and an aged or poorly conditioned battery can reduce the distance available between charges.
Type 01’s 400 miles is an EPA announcement figure
Jaguar’s 6 October 2026 Type 01 announcement gives a 400-mile range on the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cycle. It is a Jaguar-announced figure for a forthcoming vehicle, not an independent road-test result. EPA and WLTP results should not be placed in a single league table as though they measured the same conditions.

Use the figures for your route, not as a universal promise
For commuting, estimate your normal daily distance, then allow a reserve for weather, traffic, detours and charging access. For long trips, identify reliable rapid-charge locations before departure and plan around the car’s usable charge window rather than attempting to match a laboratory maximum.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen comparing an I-PACE with a future Type 01, keep the test label attached to every range figure. Compare whether the model is available when you need it, the route you drive, charging access and the condition or warranty of the exact vehicle—not just the largest number in a headline.
Charging an I-PACE
Jaguar UK’s charging guidance gives separate AC home-charging and DC rapid-charging estimates. The figures below are Jaguar estimates, not guaranteed times for every session.
| Charging setup | Jaguar-published estimate | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 7 kW AC home charger | From 13 hours for 0–100% | An overnight estimate; actual time varies with battery condition, temperature, starting state of charge and supply. |
| 11 kW AC home charger | From 9 hours for 0–100% | Requires a vehicle and electrical installation capable of using 11 kW; many homes will not have this automatically. |
| 50 kW rapid DC | Up to 39 miles added per 15 minutes | A range-added estimate; the car may not sustain the headline rate through the whole session. |
| 100 kW rapid DC | Up to 78 miles added per 15 minutes | Depends on the charger, battery temperature, starting charge and site performance. |
Jaguar says charging time depends on battery age, condition, temperature and existing charge, as well as the charging facility and session duration. A charger labelled 100 kW does not mean the vehicle will draw 100 kW continuously. Charging power normally changes as the battery fills, so the same 15-minute stop can add different amounts on different visits.
Connectors and home charging
Jaguar’s UK guidance identifies CCS charging for the I-PACE and distinguishes AC from rapid DC use. It also says vehicles come with an AC cable as standard in its UK guidance. Verify the cable supplied with the specific car and the connector requirements in your market rather than assuming a used import has identical equipment.

A 7 kW Type 2 AC home charger is the relevant physical category for many I-PACE owners, but a generic unit is not automatically suitable for every Jaguar or every property. Before installation, confirm the vehicle’s AC capability, household supply, cable routing, earthing and protection requirements, local electrical rules and whether permission is needed for the installation.
Type 01 charging claim
Jaguar says Type 01 can add 200 miles in 13 minutes when connected to a 350 kW charger. That is a launch claim for the announced car and stated charger. Actual results will depend on final vehicle software and specification, battery temperature, starting state of charge, charger availability and whether the site can deliver its rated output. It should not be treated as a guaranteed 13-minute refill or as an independently observed test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to check before buying a Jaguar I-PACE
1. Establish exactly what is being sold
- Ask whether the car is new dealer stock, a demonstrator, a used vehicle or an imported example.
- Record the model year, build date, registration date, battery size, wheel size and installed options.
- Confirm that the advertised warranty belongs to that vehicle and market, not simply to the model family.
- Check whether software updates, recalls or outstanding service actions are recorded as completed.
Production reports describe Jaguar’s transition but do not tell you what a particular dealer has in its yard. A vehicle’s actual status must come from the seller and its documentation.
2. Verify battery condition and warranty
Jaguar lists battery coverage of up to eight years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever comes first. “Up to” means the remaining cover depends on the car’s in-service date, mileage, market terms and any exclusions. Request written confirmation of the start date, expiry date, mileage limit and the process for a battery claim.

For a used I-PACE, ask for service history and a battery-health report if available. Compare the reported usable capacity with the car’s age and mileage, and look for warning messages, unexplained range loss or charging interruptions. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified EV technician is preferable to judging battery health from one dashboard range estimate.

3. Match charging to your routine
- Measure the distance of your typical weekday and longest regular trip.
- Check whether you can park at home for several consecutive hours and whether your electrical supply supports the intended AC charger.
- Map rapid chargers on regular routes, including connector type, operating hours, payment method and backup locations.
- Ask the seller to demonstrate both AC and DC charging if practical, and record the starting battery percentage, charger rating and power actually shown.
The 7 kW and 11 kW estimates explain why supply capability changes overnight convenience. A home charger is useful only if the property, installation and vehicle can use it safely and consistently.
4. Inspect the car beyond the battery
- Check tires, brakes, suspension, underbody panels and charging-port doors.
- Test climate control, cabin preconditioning, navigation, driver displays, cameras and charging timers.
- Look for water ingress, collision repairs and damage around the battery enclosure.
- Confirm both charging cables, locking mechanisms and any supplied emergency equipment.
- Review the service schedule and ensure the vehicle’s software is current.
Electric propulsion does not remove the need to inspect ordinary wear items. Tires and suspension components can be expensive on a heavy, high-performance SUV, and a damaged charging port can make an otherwise healthy battery difficult to use.
How to compare an available I-PACE with waiting for Type 01
| Decision factor | Choose an available or used I-PACE when… | Waiting for Type 01 may make sense when… |
|---|---|---|
| Timing | You need a Jaguar EV before 2027 and can verify a specific car’s condition. | You can wait for orders in early 2027 and expected deliveries from the second half of 2027. |
| Range evidence | You can plan around the I-PACE’s up-to-292-mile WLTP figure and your real route. | You value the announced 400-mile EPA target but accept that final certification and independent testing are pending. |
| Charging | Your home and public network work with the I-PACE’s CCS and available AC/DC rates. | You are prepared to verify final Type 01 charging hardware and 350 kW site access when specifications are published. |
| Risk | You can inspect battery health, warranty and service records before purchase. | You accept unknown retail pricing, trim structure, final specification and delivery details. |
| Budget | The seller provides a price for the exact new, demonstrator or used car. | You are comfortable waiting for Jaguar to publish market-specific pricing; none is established in the launch announcement. |
Neither path is automatically better. The I-PACE offers a known vehicle that can be inspected now, while Type 01 represents Jaguar’s new platform but remains subject to final market details. Make the choice using your delivery deadline and charging reality rather than treating the two range numbers as directly comparable.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mixing WLTP and EPA: calling 400 EPA miles “more range” than 292 WLTP miles without explaining the different cycles creates a misleading comparison.
- Assuming a dealer has factory-fresh stock: production changes do not prove what remains in a local showroom.
- Reading the dashboard estimate as a battery test: displayed range changes with recent driving, temperature, climate use and route conditions.
- Expecting a charger to deliver its label continuously: 50, 100 or 350 kW is a site or equipment rating, not a guaranteed session average.
- Assuming warranty length from the model name: the individual I-PACE’s in-service date, mileage and market terms control remaining coverage.
- Buying an installation before checking compatibility: confirm connector, AC power, electrical protection and local rules first.
Questions to ask a Jaguar dealer or seller
- What is the vehicle identification number, build date and first-registration date?
- Is this car new stock, a demonstrator, an approved used vehicle or an import?
- What battery warranty remains, and what are the mileage and date limits in this market?
- Can you provide service, software-update and recall records?
- What charging cables are included, and which AC and DC connectors does this exact car support?
- Can I see an AC or DC charging session and the power delivered during it?
- Has the battery or charging system ever required repair?
- What is the written price and what equipment is included?
For Type 01, also ask when your market will publish the retail price, final trim specifications, certified range, charging limits and confirmed delivery schedule. Jaguar’s announcement provides targets, not a complete sales specification.
Bottom line for buyers
The I-PACE remains Jaguar’s documented electric model for buyers shopping existing stock or the used market: 90 kWh, up to 292 miles (470 km) WLTP and 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds, with published charging estimates that make overnight home charging practical when the installation is suitable. Its purchase case depends heavily on the individual car’s battery condition, warranty and charging history.
Type 01 is the forward-looking option: a JEA-based luxury GT with an 850-volt system, more than 1,000 PS and Jaguar’s announced 400-mile EPA range. Orders are planned for early 2027 and deliveries for the second half of that year, but price, final specification and independent results are not yet established. Buy the I-PACE only after checking the exact vehicle; wait for Type 01 only if its timing and forthcoming details fit your needs.
