What the JAECOO J7 recalls say
Australia and the UK have published distinct campaigns. Their vehicle counts and fault descriptions are specific to each market and should not be added together as a worldwide total.

The Australian and UK records describe different harness locations or failure mechanisms and use separate campaign identifiers. Neither count establishes a global affected population or failure probability.
Is my Jaecoo J7 affected by the recall?
A model year alone cannot confirm whether a particular vehicle is included. Recall coverage is determined by the campaign’s vehicle identification numbers (VINs), so check the notice or official service for the market where the car is registered.

Australia
- Open the Australian REC-006694 notice and check its attached VIN list against your vehicle’s VIN.
- If you need help confirming inclusion, contact Chery Motor Australia’s customer experience team on 1800 424 379 or at [email protected].
- If the vehicle is affected, arrange the free inspection and repair with a local dealership.
United Kingdom
- Use the GOV.UK vehicle recall service to check by registration number, or search by make, model and year.
- For the JAECOO 7 campaign, contact the local manufacturer or dealer to confirm whether your vehicle is included and arrange the free inspection and repair.
GOV.UK says recall repairs or parts are not usually charged to owners and reminds drivers that they remain responsible for keeping their vehicle safe to drive. If you are outside Australia or the UK, consult your national recall register and local authorized dealer; the records covered here do not establish a complete worldwide campaign list.
What should owners do if the car shows a warning or loses power?
The notices reviewed do not give a blanket instruction to stop driving every vehicle of the affected model years. Confirm your vehicle’s status and ask the official recall service or authorized dealer for vehicle-specific directions. If a warning appears or the car loses power, do not assume the harness is the cause; follow the relevant roadside or emergency procedures and contact the manufacturer or dealer for guidance. The recall instructions call for authorized-dealer work, not a DIY harness repair.

Does New Zealand have the same recall?
New Zealand’s transport agency database contains a JAECOO entry dated 13 August 2026 under campaign RCB-2603. It describes the under-front-seat harness rubbing against the seat cross-beam bracket and directs owners to a free local-dealer inspection and repair. The entry identifies JAECOO J7 SH and Jaecoo 1.6T among its product identifiers. New Zealand vehicle recalls database
This is evidence of an RCB-2603 entry in New Zealand, but it does not establish that New Zealand and Australia have identical VIN populations. It is also distinct from the UK’s R/2026/069 ECU-clip campaign.
