The trade-offs matter just as much: range depends on configuration and conditions, towing can cut it sharply, and reviewers say the bed and rear seat are smaller than those in some rival trucks. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are unavailable, according to Edmunds.
Which 2025 R1T configuration makes sense?
Rivian’s comparison page lists three all-wheel-drive configurations, with different motors, batteries, range estimates and acceleration. These are the figures displayed for the configurations below; Rivian says options and conditions affect range, and that some displayed estimates may be preliminary rather than official EPA values. Confirm the exact vehicle’s EPA label before treating a range figure as definitive.

Rivian’s displayed Tri- and Quad-Motor acceleration figures assume 22-inch road wheels and Launch mode; its range estimates are based on 22-inch wheels. The exact vehicle’s battery, wheels and tires are important when comparing versions. Rivian’s comparison page notes that configuration and conditions can change the estimates.
How quick and capable is it?
The R1T’s acceleration is striking for a pickup. In its test of a 2025 Tri-Motor, Car and Driver measured 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds. That is a result for the outlet’s specific test vehicle, not a guarantee for every R1T. Rivian’s displayed estimates vary by motor configuration, as shown above. Edmunds describes the truck as quick and capable both on road and off.

For a buyer choosing between versions, motor count and acceleration are only part of the decision. Consider the kind of off-road use you expect, the chosen wheel and tire setup, and the range configuration that suits your regular routes.
How far can a 2025 Rivian R1T go on a charge?
There is no single range figure that applies to every 2025 R1T. Rivian’s comparison lists 329 miles for Dual-Motor with the Large battery, 371 miles for Tri-Motor with Max, and 374 miles for Quad-Motor with Max, while warning that some estimates may be preliminary. Check the official EPA label for the exact vehicle and wheel configuration.

Independent results also vary by vehicle and test. Edmunds reports that its Dual Max test vehicle had a 410-mile EPA estimate and achieved 390 miles in its testing. Car and Driver reports that select 2025 versions offer up to 420 miles, but that figure should not be read as the range for every configuration.
Car and Driver’s historical 75-mph highway tests illustrate the effect of setup: its 2022 Quad-Motor test vehicle covered 220 miles with 20-inch all-terrain tires and 280 miles with 22-inch all-season tires. Those results are for that older test vehicle and those specific tires, not 2025 range guarantees.

Charging capability
Car and Driver reports maximum DC fast-charge capability of 220 kW for the Large and Max batteries, and 200 kW for the Standard battery. Maximum capability is not a promise that every charging session will reach that rate; charging access and conditions on a planned route still matter, particularly on long trips or when towing.
How much can a 2025 Rivian R1T tow?
Rivian’s May 2025 R1T Owner’s Guide lists a maximum of 11,000 lb with a weight-distributing hitch and 5,000 lb with a standard hitch. The truck has an integrated 2-inch Class V receiver and a 7-pin trailer connector. Rivian recommends tongue weight around 10% of the loaded trailer’s weight, and tongue load counts against the vehicle’s cargo capacity. Check the guide and the specific vehicle’s limits when planning a load.

Towing also changes the range calculation. Car and Driver recorded 110 miles at 70 mph while towing a 6,100 lb trailer in its test. This is one test result, not a prediction for every trailer, route or condition; it does show why regular towing calls for conservative range planning and charging stops that can accommodate the route.

Edmunds praises the clever storage but says the bed and rear seat are smaller than those in rival trucks. If you routinely carry bulky cargo or adult passengers in back, compare those spaces with the alternatives you are considering rather than assuming the R1T’s clever compartments replace a larger bed or rear cabin.
