On October 5, 2024, 20-year-old YouTuber and streamer Jack Doherty crashed a McLaren 570S on the southbound Florida Turnpike near Cutler Bay in Miami-Dade County. Livestream footage was reported to show him looking toward his phone shortly before the car lost control on a wet road and hit a guardrail. Florida Highway Patrol reportedly cited him for using a handheld wireless device while driving; the car’s value remains disputed.
What happened in the crash?
Doherty was driving a McLaren 570S southbound on the Florida Turnpike when it lost control on a wet or slick section of road and struck a guardrail. Miami New Times and Road & Track reported that livestream footage showed him looking down toward his phone shortly before the collision. That reported sequence does not, by itself, establish that the phone caused the crash.
The collision happened on October 5, 2024, near Cutler Bay in Miami-Dade County. Reports described Doherty’s passenger as visibly bleeding afterward, but the sources reviewed did not confirm the extent of the passenger’s injuries or provide a verified medical outcome.
Was Jack Doherty cited?
Yes, according to reporting by Miami New Times, which said it obtained the crash report: Florida Highway Patrol cited Doherty for driving while operating a wireless handheld device. Road & Track also reported the citation. The available reporting does not establish whether the citation was later contested, resolved, or dismissed.

What happened to the livestream and his Kick account?
The crash was streamed on Kick. Media coverage reported that the platform banned Doherty after the incident and quoted Kick as saying: “Kick does not condone illegal activity, which is why we swiftly took action and moved to ban this creator from the platform.” That statement is attributed to Kick through the reporting; an official Kick statement page was not available among the sources reviewed.
Was the McLaren worth $300,000?
Published estimates conflict, and neither figure is established here as an official valuation. PerthNow described the car as worth $300,000, while Fortune reported an estimate of about $200,000. Those are media estimates, not a verified sale price, insurance assessment, or crash-report valuation.
