There is no independently verified 250-hp Fat Boy identified in the available evidence. Harley-Davidson’s current production Fat Boy makes 103–104 hp, depending on model year. A 2023 HDForums report describes a different, supercharged custom Fat Boy producing 234 hp and 215 lb-ft of torque for drag-strip use. That report does not establish a 250-hp figure or prove the motorcycle is legal for public roads.
What is actually known about the 250-hp claim?
The 250-hp number should be treated as an unverified headline claim, not a confirmed factory specification. No builder, model year, dyno sheet, complete parts list, or registration information tying that exact number to a specific Fat Boy is identified here.

The confirmed production figures
Harley-Davidson’s official product pages list the current Fat Boy as a road-going motorcycle with production lighting, suspension, braking and rider-safety equipment. The 2025 and 2026 versions are nowhere near 250 hp.

A 2023 HDForums report says, “A supercharged Harley-Davidson Fat Boy produced a stratospheric 234 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque.” The report describes that motorcycle as drag-strip-ready. It does not say that it made 250 hp, and it should not automatically be treated as the same bike referenced by the headline.

How much horsepower does a stock Fat Boy make?
| Model | Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Other stated figures | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 Fat Boy | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom | 104 hp | 126 ft-lb | 694 lb running order | $22,599 |
| 2026 Fat Boy | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom | 103 hp | 126 ft-lb | 47 mpg | $22,599 |
Those are Harley-Davidson’s stated figures for the respective model years. A one-horsepower difference between the 2025 and 2026 listings does not turn either production motorcycle into a 250-hp machine.
Stock Fat Boy versus the reported supercharged custom
| Category | Production Fat Boy (2025/2026) | HDForums custom report (2023) |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 104 hp (2025); 103 hp (2026) | 234 hp, as reported |
| Torque | 126 ft-lb | 215 lb-ft, as reported |
| Induction | Factory configuration; forced-induction hardware not stated | Supercharged |
| Engine displacement | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom; displacement not stated in the cited figures | Not stated in the report |
| Cooling and fueling changes | Factory systems | Not stated in the report |
| Weight | 694 lb running order for the 2025 model; 2026 weight not stated here | Not stated |
| Brakes, chassis and tires | Production road equipment | Specific upgrades not stated |
| Intended environment | Public-road motorcycle | Described as drag-strip-ready |
| Street-legal status | Sold as a road motorcycle | Not established by the report |
The table shows why a headline comparison can mislead: the verified 234-hp figure belongs to a modified motorcycle, while the factory numbers describe a complete production road bike.

What modifications can push a Fat Boy beyond 200 hp?
The reported custom bike confirms that forced induction can produce a very large increase, but the available report does not provide a build sheet. The following are engineering areas that must be addressed on any 200-plus-hp conversion; they are not a parts list for the unidentified 250-hp motorcycle.
Supercharger and engine airflow
A supercharger supplies pressurized intake air, which is the defining modification identified in the 234-hp report. The blower, intake, belt drive and engine calibration must be matched to the desired boost and rpm range.

Fuel delivery and calibration
More air requires more fuel and a carefully controlled ignition map. Injectors, pump capacity, sensors and electronic tuning all have to support the target output. A dyno result is the meaningful way to document the final horsepower and torque.
Cooling and lubrication
Boost raises heat load. Radiator or oil-cooling capacity, airflow, lubricant control and temperature monitoring become more important than on a standard road bike, particularly during repeated drag runs.

Clutch, transmission and final drive
Torque is often the limiting factor rather than peak horsepower. The clutch, gearbox, belt or chain drive and rear-wheel traction must withstand 215 lb-ft or more without slipping or failing.
Chassis, brakes and tires
Power alone does not make a usable motorcycle. High-output builds need tires capable of transmitting the torque, suspension and chassis setup appropriate to acceleration, and braking hardware that can repeatedly stop the added speed. The cited report does not identify which changes, if any, were made to those systems.

Does “not for the road” mean the bike is illegal?
Not necessarily. “Not for the road” is a use-status claim that requires the motorcycle’s jurisdiction, registration category and exact equipment to evaluate. A drag-oriented build may be unsuitable for public-road use without being universally illegal, while a motorcycle can also be mechanically road-capable yet fail local emissions, noise, lighting, inspection or insurance requirements.
What must be checked for street use
- Registration and title for the specific motorcycle and jurisdiction
- Required headlamps, turn signals, mirrors, brakes, reflectors and license-plate equipment
- Applicable emissions and noise compliance after the supercharger conversion
- Inspection, certification and insurance acceptance
- Whether the builder or owner classifies it as a competition-only vehicle
The factory Fat Boy is sold with road equipment. The HDForums description of a drag-strip-ready custom does not establish that its modified configuration retained legal road status.
What evidence would confirm a genuine 250-hp Fat Boy?
A reliable identification would need more than a headline or a repost. Look for:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

- The builder’s name and the motorcycle’s model year or VIN-linked identity
- A dated dyno sheet showing horsepower, torque, correction standard and test configuration
- The complete engine, supercharger, fueling and calibration specification
- Details of cooling, clutch, braking, tire and chassis upgrades
- The jurisdiction and documentation establishing road registration or competition-only classification
The bottom line on the “ultimate beast”
The current Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is a roughly 103–104-hp production cruiser, not a 250-hp motorcycle. A separate 2023 report documents a supercharged custom at 234 hp and 215 lb-ft, with drag-strip intent. Until a builder, dyno record and legal status are identified, the exact 250-hp Fat Boy—and the claim that it is categorically not for the road—remains unverified.
