When was the Yamaha R9 announced?
Yamaha Motor Europe announced the 2025 R9 on October 8, 2024. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA followed on October 9 with its U.S. announcement, listing a $12,499 MSRP and planned dealer arrivals beginning in March. What are the R9’s engine specifications?
Yamaha Motor Europe’s 2026 product page lists the European R9 with a liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve, three-cylinder engine displacing 890cc. The European specification is 87.5 kW (119 PS) at 10,000 rpm and 93.0 Nm at 7,000 rpm. These output figures are for the European model; they should not be presented as U.S. homologation figures. Yamaha also cautions that the image on its European page shows U.S. specifications and that the European model may differ slightly in features or equipment. What rider aids and chassis equipment does it have?
Yamaha lists a six-axis IMU-based rider-aid suite for the R9. The named electronic systems include power delivery modes, lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, lift control, brake control with ABS, engine-brake management, back-slip regulation, launch control, Yamaha Ride Control settings, and a variable speed limiter. Is the Yamaha R9 available at dealers now?
Yamaha’s announced arrival windows answer when it expected U.S. dealer deliveries to begin, not whether a particular dealership has a motorcycle today. For a purchase decision, ask a local Yamaha dealer about the model year and trim in stock, regional specifications, any applicable fees, and the out-the-door price.
