When did the Hero Xtreme 200R launch in India?
Hero MotoCorp announced the phased countrywide sales rollout in August 2018 and said factory dispatches would begin the following week. A subsequent company release reported that countrywide dispatches had commenced that month. The company’s January 2018 unveiling announcement had said availability was planned from April 2018; that was the original plan, not the actual countrywide rollout timing. What was the official launch price?
Hero’s August 2018 release listed the Xtreme 200R at Rs. 89,900 ex-showroom Delhi. The Rs. 89,000 amount in the supplied headline is therefore inconsistent with the manufacturer’s stated launch price. This was a historical Delhi ex-showroom figure; it does not establish today’s price, an on-road price in any location, or present availability.

The engine, output, torque and gearbox figures were reported by Autocar India’s 2018 review. Its report also described disc brakes at both ends and standard single-channel ABS. Hero said the Xtreme 200R was the first motorcycle in its category to offer ABS as standard; that category-first wording is the company’s claim, not an independently established comparison here.
Why did Hero position it as a premium-segment return?
Hero presented the Xtreme 200R as part of an effort to strengthen its presence in higher-capacity premium motorcycles. At launch, Pawan Munjal, then Hero MotoCorp Chairman, MD & CEO, said: “For us, the Xtreme 200R is not just any other product launch – it will catapult us to where we have been earlier – the premium segment.” The company had also described that strategic aim in its January 2018 unveiling release.

What can’t the 2018 launch announcement tell buyers today?
The launch announcements and contemporary specification reporting establish historical launch facts, not the motorcycle’s current production status, dealer stock, marketplace availability, current price, or location-specific on-road cost. Those details need to be confirmed for the buyer’s location and date; the 2018 Delhi ex-showroom price should not be treated as a present-day quote.
