Mazda UK’s February 2026 specification lists a 78 kWh battery, up to 348 miles of combined WLTP range and charging up to 195 kW DC. Those are manufacturer and test-cycle figures, not a promise of the distance you will achieve on every journey. The April 2026 UK list put the car at £38,995 on the road in Takumi form or £39,995 for Takumi Plus; neither figure is a confirmed October 2026 dealer quote.
The sensible decision is therefore practical rather than badge-led: check your charging routine, route length, load and towing needs, then drive the exact car and obtain a current written quote.

What the Mazda6e is
The Mazda6e is Mazda’s fully electric car for the UK market covered by the available Mazda UK documents. The February 2026 guide describes one powertrain rather than a range of battery or motor choices: a 78 kWh battery and a 258ps electric motor producing 290 Nm of torque. Mazda quotes 0–62 mph in 7.9 seconds and a 109 mph top speed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIts quoted combined energy consumption is 15.9 kWh/100 km, with a combined WLTP range of up to 348 miles. The technical guide also gives a city WLTP range of 436 miles. WLTP is a standardised laboratory test, so these numbers are useful for comparing the same vehicle under the same test regime, but they are not an owner’s guaranteed mileage. Temperature, speed, rain, wind, traffic, payload, wheel and tyre choices, accessories and use of heating or air conditioning all affect consumption.

| Specification | Mazda UK figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 78 kWh | Usable capacity and charging losses are not separately stated in the supplied Mazda material. |
| Power | 258ps | Manufacturer output figure. |
| Torque | 290 Nm | Electric-motor peak figure. |
| 0–62 mph | 7.9 seconds | Manufacturer specification, not an independently measured test. |
| Top speed | 109 mph | Manufacturer specification. |
| Energy consumption | 15.9 kWh/100 km combined | WLTP test-cycle figure; actual use varies. |
| Range | 348 miles combined WLTP; 436 miles city WLTP | Test-cycle results, not a guaranteed road-trip range. |
No independent road-test range, acceleration test, safety rating or rival comparison is established by the available material. Treat Mazda’s numbers as the starting specification and use a test drive and route planning to decide whether they fit your life.
How far can the Mazda6e really go?
Use the combined figure as a planning ceiling, not a promise
The 348-mile combined WLTP number is the most relevant headline for mixed driving. The 436-mile city WLTP number reflects the low-speed, stop-start conditions of the urban part of the test; it should not be used as an expectation for motorway travel. A motorway journey at high speed, in cold weather or with a full load can consume energy much faster than the test cycle.
Mazda specifically warns that results vary with weather, driving style, load, accessories and the use of vehicle features. That means the right question is not “Will it always do 348 miles?” but “What distance do I need between dependable charging opportunities, with a margin for bad conditions?”

Turn your journeys into a usable range requirement
- List your longest routine journey, including the return trip if you normally come home the same day.
- Mark chargers at the destination and along the route rather than assuming every site will be available.
- Allow a reserve for cold weather, traffic, detours and an unexpectedly busy or faulty charger.
- Compare that conservative requirement with the car’s expected, rather than maximum, range.
If your normal driving is short and you can plug in overnight, the WLTP gap may matter less because the car starts most days full. If you regularly cover long motorway distances without reliable charging, investigate the route and stop pattern before buying; the specification alone cannot establish how many miles you will obtain.
Charging: home, work and rapid stops
Supported connectors and charging rates
Mazda specifies Type 2 AC charging and CCS DC rapid charging. The car accepts up to 7.2 kW on AC and up to 195 kW on DC. Mazda’s product and technical guides list the following times:

| Session | Mazda figure | Conditions and limitations |
|---|---|---|
| 0–100% AC | 11 hours 48 minutes at 7.2 kW | Estimate; Mazda says charging time varies with temperature, charger output, battery state and other conditions. |
| 10–80% DC | 24 minutes on a 195 kW charger | Not a promise for every rapid charger or every battery temperature. |
| 30–80% DC | 15 minutes on a 195 kW charger | Starting state of charge, battery condition, temperature and the charger’s actual output affect the result. |
Mazda says its charging estimates use a 25°C ambient condition. In winter, a cold battery may accept power more slowly; a charger rated at 195 kW may also deliver less than that figure because of site sharing, hardware limits or the car’s charging curve. The quoted 10–80% and 30–80% times are therefore best used for planning a possible stop, not scheduling a guaranteed 15-minute break.
Is home charging possible?
Yes, the Type 2 AC connection is the relevant interface for home charging. Mazda states that a Type 2 Mode 3 cable is supplied with the car. A wallbox is not automatically a required extra: some owners can use an existing suitable installation or another approved arrangement, while others will benefit from installing a dedicated unit.

Installation requirements depend on the building and local rules. The car’s 7.2 kW maximum means a higher-rated AC wallbox will not make this vehicle charge faster than its onboard limit.
What to check for public charging
- Confirm that the route has compatible CCS rapid chargers and Type 2 AC points where you intend to stop.
- Check charger power, opening access, payment method and likely queues at the times you travel.
- Budget for the charging tariff; no public-network price or coverage figure is established here.
- Keep the supplied cable in the vehicle if you expect to use untethered Type 2 points.
A spare or replacement Type 2 cable is optional, not a universal requirement, because one is supplied. Public CCS sites normally provide their own tethered cable, but verify the site’s instructions.

| Mazda6e EV 258ps Takumi | £38,995 |
| Mazda6e EV 258ps Takumi Plus | £39,995 |
Mazda’s list says the on-the-road amount includes VAT, number plates, delivery to the dealer, 12 months of vehicle excise duty, the first-registration fee, a six-year or 100,000-mile warranty and three years of European roadside assistance. The list also says prices and specifications can change.
The £1,000 difference does not by itself show whether Takumi Plus is good value: the available evidence does not provide a complete equipment comparison. Ask the dealer for the current, itemised specification of both trims and price the features you would otherwise add. Also obtain insurance, finance and charging-installation costs separately; they are not established by the list price.
Why the date matters
The figures above are dated April 2026. They do not establish dealer discounts, stock, finance rates or October 2026 availability. Request a written quote that states the vehicle’s trim, options, delivery charges, warranty terms, roadside-assistance term and any registration or tax assumptions. Do not assume that a car advertised elsewhere carries the same included items.
Practical limits: passengers, luggage, towing and roof loads
The technical guide lists a minimum kerb weight of 2,015 kg and a permitted gross vehicle weight of 2,440 kg. It gives a braked towing limit of 1,500 kg and an unbraked limit of 750 kg. Mazda lists the maximum roof load as 0 kg.
| Use case | Published figure | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Kerb weight | Minimum 2,015 kg | Actual vehicle weight can vary by equipment and load; check the specific documentation. |
| Gross vehicle weight | 2,440 kg | Passengers, luggage and any trailer load must remain within the permitted total. |
| Braked trailer | 1,500 kg | Verify the exact car’s handbook, towbar approval and local towing rules. |
| Unbraked trailer | 750 kg | Do not exceed the vehicle’s certified limit or the trailer’s own rating. |
| Roof load | 0 kg | A major constraint: do not plan a roof box, roof bike carrier or other roof-mounted load without written confirmation that the specification has changed. |
Mazda notes the basis of its towing-capacity test. Before towing, check the vehicle handbook, registration information, towbar certification and the rules that apply where you drive. Anyone who routinely uses a roof box should treat the stated zero limit as a decisive issue and look at alternatives before paying a deposit.

The supplied information does not state boot volume, rear-seat measurements or the shape of the luggage area. Inspect the exact car with the people, child seats, cases, musical instruments or mobility equipment you actually carry. A specification sheet cannot tell you whether the loading aperture or rear legroom works for your household.
Who is likely to suit the Mazda6e?
It may suit you if
- You want a Mazda-branded car with a fully electric powertrain rather than a hybrid or petrol model.
- You can plug in overnight at home, at work or at a dependable nearby location.
- Your daily mileage is comfortably below your available charge and your longer routes have workable CCS stops.
- You value the quoted performance and equipment enough to consider a price around £39,000 before any current dealer adjustment.
- You do not need roof-mounted luggage and your towing requirement fits the published limits.
- You are prepared to check space, visibility, controls and ride comfort on a test drive rather than infer them from the badge or WLTP figures.
It may not suit you if
- You have no dependable place to charge and rely entirely on uncertain public availability.
- Your work or leisure routinely requires a roof box, roof rack or other roof load.
- You need more than 1,500 kg braked towing or more than 750 kg unbraked towing.
- You need a guaranteed real-world range figure or an independently verified safety and performance comparison before deciding.
- You are buying strictly to an October 2026 budget and cannot accept a price that may differ from the April list.
None of those points makes the car universally good or bad. They identify where the Mazda6e’s published limits intersect with a particular owner’s routine.
How to compare it with other electric cars
The available evidence does not substantiate a complete rival-model comparison, independent safety result or trim-equipment ranking. You can still make a disciplined comparison by asking every candidate the same questions.
| Comparison area | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Price and equipment | What is today’s written on-the-road price, what is included, and what warranty and roadside assistance apply? |
| Usable range | What route do you drive, in which weather and at what speed, and what reserve will remain at the next charger? |
| Charging | Which AC and DC connectors are supported, what is the car’s maximum rate, and are suitable chargers convenient on your routes? |
| Practicality | Do the seats, luggage area, child-seat positions and loading opening work in person? |
| Load limits | What are the certified towing and roof-load limits, and do they cover your equipment? |
| Driving and safety | What do an independent road test and current safety assessment say about comfort, visibility, controls and occupant protection? |
Use current independent road tests and safety results when those issues decide the purchase. Do not treat the Mazda figures as evidence that it beats an unnamed alternative; the supplied material does not establish that conclusion.

- Confirm the exact car. Record the trim, battery and options on the vehicle you drive. An advertised specification may not match an incoming or used vehicle.
- Set your driving position. Check steering-wheel adjustment, pedal alignment, seat comfort and visibility with the mirrors set for you.
- Try the controls. Operate climate, navigation, driver-assistance and charging menus while stationary. Make sure the displays and physical controls are understandable without guesswork.
- Test low-speed manoeuvres. Reverse into a space, check camera views and assess turning clearance around your home or workplace.
- Drive representative roads. Include urban streets, a faster road and rougher surfaces if possible. Listen for tyre or suspension noise and assess ride comfort, braking feel and acceleration.
- Check the cabin with your passengers. Put the people who regularly travel with you in their usual seats and check headroom, legroom and access.
- Load your real items. Bring a child seat, suitcase, buggy, work equipment or other bulky item. Do not rely on an unstated boot measurement.
- Discuss charging. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the Type 2 connection, cable storage and charge settings. Confirm what is supplied with the car.
- Review the load limits. If you tow, ask for the exact vehicle’s permitted masses and towbar documentation. If you use roof equipment, the published zero-kilogram roof limit requires particular attention.
- Leave with written details. Obtain the current price, equipment list, delivery timing, warranty, roadside assistance and any dealer-installed items.
Checks before ordering or buying used
Verify the vehicle identification number
Recall status is vehicle-specific. Mazda Europe provides a VIN lookup for recalls and special service programmes, and Mazda says recall repairs performed by an authorised repairer are free. Use the correct country site for the vehicle’s market and check the VIN of the exact car, not merely a general model page. Ask the seller to show confirmation that outstanding work has been completed.
Match the paperwork to your use
- Check the VIN, mileage, registration details and the exact trim.
- Confirm that the warranty start date and remaining mileage allowance match the seller’s statement.
- Ask which roadside-assistance term remains and where it applies.
- Inspect the supplied Type 2 cable and any charging accessories.
- Check the handbook and registration documents for towing and roof-load limits.
- Obtain a battery-health report if buying used; no battery-degradation figure is provided in the available Mazda material, so do not assume one.
Running-cost questions the specification cannot answer
Mazda’s 15.9 kWh/100 km combined figure allows a technical efficiency comparison, but it is not your electricity bill. Your cost depends on the tariff, charging losses, temperature, traffic, speed and how often you use public rapid charging. Multiply your expected annual kilometres by your own observed or conservatively estimated kWh per kilometre, then apply your home and public tariffs separately.
Likewise, the list price does not establish insurance, servicing, tyres, finance interest, home-charger installation or depreciation. Ask for those figures before comparing the Mazda6e with another vehicle. A lower purchase price can be offset by different equipment, charging access or financing terms, while a higher-priced car may include features you would otherwise add.
A simple decision framework
Use this five-question gate before placing an order:
- Charging: Can you identify a dependable overnight or destination charging option?
- Range: Can your longest regular route be completed with a realistic weather and traffic reserve?
- Space: Have the actual passengers and luggage fitted comfortably?
- Loads: Do the 1,500 kg braked, 750 kg unbraked and zero-kilogram roof limits meet your needs?
- Value: Does the exact trim and current written quote justify the cost after insurance, charging and finance are included?
A “no” on charging, space or load limits is normally a reason to stop and consider another vehicle. A “not sure” on range or value is a reason to collect better route and quote information, not to rely on the maximum WLTP number or an old price list.
Bottom line
The Mazda6e is a credible shortlist candidate for a UK buyer who wants a fully electric Mazda and has convenient charging. Its published specification combines a 78 kWh battery, 258ps output, up to 348 miles combined WLTP and rapid charging quoted at up to 195 kW. The decision turns on the details Mazda’s headline figures cannot settle: your real journey conditions, charging access, cabin and luggage fit, the zero roof-load limit, towing requirements and the current dealer price. Inspect and drive the exact car, check its VIN and limits, and buy only when those practical questions have clear answers.
