Sometimes—but only if the specific NX trim’s equipment or powertrain is worth the added cost to you. The Lexus NX and Toyota RAV4 are related choices in the compact-crossover market, but the available U.S. manufacturer information does not establish that every NX is a better buy than a comparable RAV4. Compare the exact trim, drivetrain, included fees, and dealer price before deciding.
What the Lexus NX offers for the extra money
The clearest case for paying more is access to Lexus-specific equipment on selected trims and a broader choice of electrified powertrains. Lexus lists features such as perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, thematic ambient illumination, and a 10-inch head-up display on certain NX grades; these are not features to assume are standard on every NX. Check the equipment list for the exact trim you are considering. Lexus’s 2026 announcement and its 2026 NX model page describe the lineup and equipment.
The 2026 U.S. NX range includes gasoline, conventional-hybrid, and plug-in-hybrid versions. The NX 350h is offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and Lexus added a Premium grade to the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid for 2026. If a particular hybrid configuration or plug-in option matters to you, that could make the NX worthwhile even before considering cabin features.
How much does a 2026 NX 350h cost?
Lexus’s U.S. announcement, published August 28, 2025 and updated May 1, 2026, lists these NX 350h MSRPs. Both prices include Lexus’s stated $1,395 delivery, processing and handling charge.

These are manufacturer list prices, not dealer transaction prices. Taxes, registration, dealer add-ons, financing costs, negotiated discounts, and local incentives can change what you actually pay. Lexus’s live model page presents a different starting-price figure, so use the dated, configuration-specific prices above as a reference rather than assuming every page or dealer quote will show the same amount.
Why a precise RAV4-versus-NX price gap is not established here
Toyota’s 2026 RAV4 features and specifications page is the place to check current grades and equipment, but the available price entries do not reliably pair each figure with a trim. That prevents a defensible calculation of the NX’s premium over a matching RAV4. Toyota also cautions that specifications and availability can vary by area.

For a fair comparison, get current quotes for the exact versions you can buy, with the same fee basis. Compare hybrid with hybrid and AWD with AWD where possible; if you choose different drivetrains, account for that difference rather than treating the sticker-price gap as a Lexus-only premium.
Compare the same things before choosing
Powertrain and drivetrain
The NX 350h’s front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions have different configurations, and fuel-economy figures vary accordingly. Make sure each quote and specification sheet refers to the drivetrain you intend to buy. Do not compare an AWD Lexus with a front-wheel-drive Toyota as if they were identical packages.

Equipment you will actually use
Start with standard equipment on the two exact grades, then identify which Lexus features matter enough to pay for. A head-up display or particular upholstery may be compelling to one buyer and irrelevant to another. Do not assign value to an option unless it is included on the quoted vehicle or its price is clearly accounted for.
Efficiency and power
Lexus lists the 2026 NX 350h at 240 net combined horsepower and estimates 39 or 40 combined MPG, depending on the configuration shown on its model page. These are Lexus-published figures, not independent test results. Compare them with Toyota’s figures for the matching RAV4 powertrain and drivetrain, using the same kind of manufacturer estimate.

Daily utility and ownership costs
Price and feature lists do not answer whether the NX is quieter, more comfortable, easier to load, cheaper to insure, less expensive to service, or likely to hold its value better than a RAV4. The manufacturer sources cited here do not establish those comparisons. If any of them could decide the purchase for you, seek a direct comparison or matched, independent ownership-cost data before paying extra.

- Consider the NX if a specific trim includes premium equipment you genuinely want, or if its available hybrid or plug-in-hybrid configuration fits your priorities better.
- Lean toward the RAV4 if the Lexus features and powertrain choices do not justify the actual price difference on your dealer quotes.
- Pause before deciding if you have not compared matching drivetrains, verified the trim equipment, or obtained current out-the-door prices.
Lexus also describes Proactive Driving Assist as providing gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and/or steering to support tasks such as distance control when system operating conditions are met. That is Lexus’s description of the system, not evidence that it performs better than a RAV4’s driver-assistance features.
