It is an intriguing design, but the KOSMOS crowdfunded F5 remains unproven as a delivered product. Kickstarter shows that the campaign reached its funding goal; that does not establish whether the F5 was delivered successfully or whether its advertised performance was achieved. The available evidence also does not show that the F5 is the same bike as KOSMOS’s separately listed NOVA H3. Treat the idea as promising, not verified—and check the exact model, delivery terms, warranty and repair support before paying.
What does the evidence actually establish?
KOSMOS’s Kickstarter campaign for its hubless e-bike raised $18,634 from 12 backers against a $5,000 goal. It ran from February 25 to April 26, 2025. Those figures confirm that the campaign was funded, not that all backers received a bike or that the product worked as advertised. The campaign page was last updated December 14, 2025. Kickstarter campaign
Campaign-era coverage identified the crowdfunded folding bike as the F5. But a separate official listing describes the KOSMOS NOVA H3, and the available product information does not establish that the two are identical. Do not use NOVA H3 specifications as proof of what the F5 offers.
What did KOSMOS claim about the F5?
The campaign FAQ listed a range of up to 50 miles (80 km), a weight of 48.5 lb (22 kg), and a charging time of around four hours. It also said the bike would arrive assembled in its folded position. These are campaign claims, not independently measured results; the FAQ entries show an update date of December 19, 2024. KOSMOS campaign FAQ

Does hubless construction make the bike a bad buy?
Not by itself. New Atlas’s April 11, 2025 article questioned whether a hubless wheel offers practical advantages over a conventional wheel and whether its unusual construction could make repairs more complicated. Those are reasonable questions, not proof that the F5 is defective, unsafe or fraudulent. The article does not report a hands-on test of the F5. New Atlas’s assessment

For a buyer, the practical issue is serviceability. Before purchase, ask who can repair the wheel and drivetrain, which replacement parts are stocked, and whether a repair can be handled locally or requires shipping the bike to the manufacturer. A distinctive design is less useful if routine service is difficult to arrange where you live.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you still buy the F5 at the campaign price?
Do not assume so. New Atlas reported historical campaign-era pricing of US$1,500 on Kickstarter and an expected US$3,500 retail price. The Kickstarter campaign ended in April 2025, and the available sources do not establish current F5 inventory, current retail pricing or delivery status. Those old figures are not live offers. Consumables are generally excluded except for initial defects. The site is Korean, so confirm in writing that its coverage, service and delivery terms apply to the exact model and your country. What to check before placing an order
- Identify the exact model. Get written confirmation whether the offer is for the Kickstarter F5, NOVA H3 or another KOSMOS model. Ask for that model’s current specification sheet.
- Verify stock and delivery. Confirm that the bike is physically available, the delivery date and cost for your country, and what happens if it is not shipped on time. A completed crowdfunding campaign is not proof of fulfillment.
- Ask for evidence behind performance claims. Request test conditions for any range or charging claims, and distinguish manufacturer figures from independently measured results.
- Confirm local repair options. Ask which shops can service the hubless wheel and what parts are available. Find out whether the manufacturer will arrange shipping if local repair is not possible.
- Check carrying practicality. The campaign FAQ’s 22 kg figure and the NOVA H3 listing’s 20.2 kg figure are model-specific claims. Either is substantial if you expect to carry a folded bike up stairs or onto public transport; folding helps storage but does not remove the weight.
- Get warranty terms for your market. Confirm component coverage, exclusions, claim process and whether shipping or service is covered for your location. Do not assume the official store’s published terms apply everywhere.
- Verify safety and local rules. Confirm the exact bike’s brakes and rated load, then check the rules for pedal-assist and throttle e-bikes where you plan to ride. Do not infer F5 equipment from the NOVA H3 listing.
