The acceleration figures are results for the specific vehicles Edmunds tested, not promises for every trim. Edmunds also describes both third rows as relatively tight compared with those in larger SUVs. The prices are 2025 starting figures from that comparison, not current transaction offers. Kia lists a $38,890 starting MSRP for the 2026 Sorento Hybrid on its current US model page; comparing that with Edmunds’ 2025 Highlander price would mix model years and sources, so it does not establish a like-for-like price advantage. Which matters more when choosing one?
Start with your actual passenger and cargo needs, then weigh reliability evidence by what it measures. If you regularly carry seven people, the second-row configuration and usable space may matter more than a small difference in estimated fuel economy. For frequent third-row use, try the seats and load the cargo area with the people and gear you expect to carry.
