Is the Jaguar Type 00 delayed?
The premise needs separating into two cars. Jaguar’s official Type 00 material labels Type 00 a non-production vehicle: a design concept intended to show the brand’s future direction. It is not a customer model waiting for a delayed production start.

The vehicle commonly described in headlines as the “Type 00 production car” is instead Jaguar’s forthcoming production luxury GT. That model is a separate project, even though Type 00 previews the design language.
When will the Jaguar Type 00 production car come out?
Jaguar’s 3 December 2025 anniversary newsroom release said its first production model, described as a luxury GT, would be revealed in 2026. JLR’s FY25/26 annual report subsequently gave a more specific but later window: the new Jaguar production car is planned for unveiling in the second half of FY26/27.

That is a fiscal-year window, not a confirmed month, day, start-of-production date or customer-delivery date. The two official statements establish schedule movement from the earlier 2026 expectation, but the annual report does not call it a “delay” or identify the previously expected month.
Why is Jaguar’s new electric GT delayed?
No reviewed Jaguar or JLR statement gives a specific cause for the timing change. JLR discusses a company-wide cyber incident, tariffs and difficult economic conditions in its reporting, but it does not attribute the new Jaguar’s reveal timing to any of them. Assigning one of those issues as the cause would go beyond what the company has said.

What progress has Jaguar reported?
JLR’s annual report indicates that the programme is advancing, while stopping short of promising production or deliveries.

- Prototype validation: JLR reports that 150 prototypes have covered hundreds of thousands of miles.
- Independent qualification: Those figures are manufacturer-reported programme totals, not independently verified test results.
- Factory preparation: Work on the new Jaguar production line at Solihull is described as advanced.
Prototype mileage and factory work demonstrate development progress; neither establishes the reveal date beyond the stated fiscal window, the beginning of series production or when customers will receive cars.

What did Jaguar say about the car?
In the 3 December 2025 anniversary release, Jaguar Director Rawdon Glover said: “Ahead of the launch of our production vehicle next year it’s vital we continue to remind people of what makes Jaguar unique: being bold, unexpected, and unapologetically different. With Type 00, we’re challenging conventions in the automotive industry, just as the SS Jaguar did in its time.”
The quote explains why Jaguar used Type 00 as a design statement while discussing a separate production vehicle. It does not provide a technical specification, price or firm delivery commitment.

- The exact calendar date of the reveal
- The final production model name
- Final range, charging performance, power and other specifications
- Price, order-opening date and production start
- Customer delivery timing and launch markets
Until Jaguar publishes a dated production-car announcement or sales information, “second half of FY26/27” is the most specific official timing available.
