The Dodge SRT Tomahawk is real as an official virtual concept and game car—but not as a production automobile. Dodge and SRT created it for the Vision Gran Turismo project, and it debuted as a playable car in Gran Turismo 6. Its astonishing horsepower and speed figures describe a fictional 2035 performance vision, not a road car that Dodge built, sold, or certified.
What is the Dodge SRT Tomahawk?
The Dodge SRT Tomahawk is real as an official virtual concept car, but it is not a real production automobile. It was created by SRT and Dodge for the Vision Gran Turismo project and released as a playable car in Gran Turismo 6. It represents a fictional “sportscar of 2035,” not a Dodge model that was built, sold, registered, or tested on public roads.

That distinction is easy to miss. The Tomahawk has an official Dodge/SRT identity, detailed engineering specifications, multiple versions, and extraordinary performance figures. However, the official material presents it as a digital future-performance exercise designed for Gran Turismo—not as a production-car program.
Why the SRT Tomahawk was created
FCA US announced the SRT Tomahawk on June 2, 2015, as a contribution to the Vision Gran Turismo project. The project invited automakers to imagine futuristic cars specifically for the Gran Turismo games. SRT engineers and designers developed the Tomahawk as an extreme interpretation of what a Dodge performance car might be around 2035.

The car appeared in Gran Turismo 6 through Update 1.20, released in June 2015. Players could obtain it from the game’s Vision GT section, with additional event-based acquisition methods available at the time. Gran Turismo’s official Vision Gran Turismo catalogue also associates the Dodge SRT Tomahawk with Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7.
In other words, this is not an unauthorized fan-made vehicle or an ordinary fictional car invented without Dodge’s involvement. It is an official Dodge/SRT digital concept. “Official” describes its status within the Vision Gran Turismo collaboration; it does not mean Dodge manufactured a full-size road car.
The three SRT Tomahawk versions
The Tomahawk family was presented in three grades: the S, the GTS-R, and the X. Their figures are concept or in-game specifications. They are not independently tested production-car results, and they should not be compared with certified road-car performance data as though the vehicles had undergone normal testing.
SRT Tomahawk S Vision Gran Turismo
The S is the most approachable version and the one described as closest to a street-oriented interpretation within the fictional lineup. That wording does not mean it was actually street-legal or eligible for road registration.
| Claimed specification | Tomahawk S |
|---|---|
| Engine | 7.0-liter V10 |
| V10 output | 792 horsepower |
| Pneumatic front-wheel output | 215 horsepower |
| Total system output | 1,007 horsepower |
| Claimed curb weight | 2,026 pounds |
| Claimed top speed | More than 250 mph |
The S combines a mid-rear-mounted V10 with an all-wheel-drive system. Its front wheels receive additional power from a pneumatic energy-storage system, which is one of the concept’s deliberately futuristic elements.
SRT Tomahawk GTS-R Vision Gran Turismo
The GTS-R moves the concept toward a lighter, more aggressive racing configuration. It was described with a much lower mass and a claimed top speed above 300 mph.

| Claimed specification | Tomahawk GTS-R |
|---|---|
| V10 output | 1,137 horsepower |
| Pneumatic front-wheel output | 313 horsepower |
| Total system output | 1,450 horsepower |
| Claimed curb weight | 1,459 pounds |
| Claimed top speed | More than 300 mph |
Gran Turismo’s description says the GTS-R requires a pressurized racing suit to help counteract the physiological effects of its extreme lateral forces. That is part of the fictional future-technology scenario. It is not evidence of a real Dodge racing car or a documented safety system used by an actual Tomahawk driver.

The X is the deliberately excessive top-tier version. Its design pushes the idea beyond anything normally associated with a road-going automobile.
- More than 2,000 horsepower from the V10.
- More than 2,500 horsepower of total all-wheel-drive output when the pneumatic cylinders are fully charged.
- Nine independently actuating aerodynamic panels.
- A driver G-suit for the most extreme driving forces.
- A stated seven-month driver-training program to prepare a driver to operate it at its limits.
Those details explain why the X should be understood as a playable design study rather than a hidden production project. The pneumatic system, active aerodynamic surfaces, specialized suit, and driver-training requirement are narrative and gameplay concepts intended to imagine a far-future machine.
Are the horsepower and speed figures real?
They are real in the limited sense that they were published as part of the official Tomahawk concept and used in Gran Turismo. They are not real-world test results from a manufactured automobile.
The distinction matters for several reasons:
- No production vehicle was documented. The official material reviewed does not identify a production run, customer deliveries, dealer inventory, or a road-certification record.
- The powertrain depends on future technology. The concept uses a nearly flat 6.98-liter V10, pneumatic energy storage, and a highly unusual front-wheel-drive assistance system.
- The aerodynamic package is not a normal road-car system. The X’s independently moving panels are presented as active future aerodynamics, not as equipment validated for a road-legal Dodge.
- The numbers belong to a game concept. “More than 2,500 horsepower” and speeds above 300 mph should be described as claimed in-universe or game-concept specifications, not independently verified performance.
Consequently, there is no meaningful real-world answer to questions such as “What is the Tomahawk’s tested 0-to-60 time?” or “How fast did it lap a track?” The car was not documented as a completed road or race vehicle on which those tests could be performed.

No—not as a real automobile. The S version was described as the closest to a street-legal interpretation within the fictional range, but that is a design distinction between game versions. It is not a record of homologation.

There is no verified production specification, vehicle identification record, registration path, emissions certification, safety certification, manufacturer MSRP, or customer-delivery announcement for a road-going SRT Tomahawk. You cannot buy one from a Dodge dealer, title one as a normal Dodge automobile, or legally drive an original full-size Tomahawk on public roads.
Do not confuse it with the 2003 Dodge Tomahawk
Searches for “Dodge Tomahawk” often combine two different Dodge design exercises:
| Name | What it was |
|---|---|
| Dodge Tomahawk | An early-2000s, four-wheeled motorcycle-style concept associated with the Viper V10. |
| Dodge SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo | A 2015 digital Vision Gran Turismo concept created for the Gran Turismo games. |
They share the Tomahawk name and both were extreme Dodge-branded design exercises, but they are not the same vehicle. Specifications, images, or production claims about the earlier motorcycle-style concept should not be used as evidence that the SRT Tomahawk game car exists as a full-size automobile.
Where can you drive the SRT Tomahawk?
The legitimate way to experience the SRT Tomahawk is digitally through the Gran Turismo ecosystem:
- Gran Turismo 6: This was the original release platform. The car arrived through Update 1.20 on PlayStation 3 and was available through the Vision GT section and related event methods.
- Gran Turismo Sport: The official Vision Gran Turismo catalogue associates the Tomahawk with this title.
- Gran Turismo 7: The official catalogue also lists the SRT Tomahawk in connection with GT7. GT7 has PS4 and PS5 editions, including physical versions, but availability, edition differences, and the exact in-game acquisition requirements can change. Check the current game information for the relevant platform and region rather than assuming that every copy provides immediate access.
If you want to experience the car today, Gran Turismo 7 for PS5 is the most directly relevant physical product route identified here. It is a way to play the digital car—not a way to purchase a real Tomahawk. A game purchase should not be presented as a guarantee of immediate access unless the current in-game requirements have been checked.
If this article contains a retailer link, it may be monetized. Product availability, pricing, platform compatibility, and in-game requirements vary by region and can change.

Can you buy a Dodge SRT Tomahawk?
You cannot buy a new, road-legal Dodge SRT Tomahawk from Dodge. No verified official sales page, MSRP, production quantity, dealer listing, or customer-delivery record was identified for a physical SRT Tomahawk automobile.

Those listings should be treated cautiously. The research available here does not verify that a particular model is officially licensed by Dodge, SRT, or Polyphony Digital, nor does it establish stable availability or seller reliability. A miniature is not evidence that the full-size car exists.
The same caution applies to online claims that a Tomahawk is “for sale,” “street legal,” or “worth millions.” Unless a listing identifies a verifiable manufacturer, licensing status, physical product, and transaction history, it may be confusing the digital Vision GT car with the separate Dodge Tomahawk concept—or simply repeating game specifications as though they belonged to a real vehicle.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why does the car look so real?
The confusion is understandable. The Tomahawk was commissioned through a formal automaker-and-game collaboration rather than invented as a generic fantasy car. It has:
- Dodge and SRT branding;
- professional exterior and interior design;
- a formal 2015 announcement;
- multiple detailed variants;
- specific engineering language and numerical specifications; and
- a playable presence in a major racing franchise.
It also uses a future date—2035—which can make the project sound like a product roadmap. In context, however, “sportscar of 2035” is a creative premise for the Vision Gran Turismo project. It does not announce that Dodge planned to manufacture the vehicle in 2035 or at any other date.

What the SRT Tomahawk tells us about Vision Gran Turismo
Vision Gran Turismo cars occupy a space between automotive design study and interactive fiction. Automakers can explore proportions, powertrains, materials, and performance ideas that would be impractical, unaffordable, or impossible to certify as production vehicles. Players then experience those ideas through a simulated driving model.

The Tomahawk makes that purpose especially clear. Its single-seat, mid-rear-engine, all-wheel-drive layout, graphene-related structural and transparent materials, pneumatic energy storage, active aerodynamics, and G-suit concept are not a conventional development plan. They are a coherent fictional answer to the question: what might an extreme Dodge performance machine look like decades in the future?
Bottom line
The Dodge SRT Tomahawk is officially real as a Dodge/SRT Vision Gran Turismo concept and video-game car. It is not real as a production automobile. The S, GTS-R, and X specifications belong to the concept’s fictional future and Gran Turismo presentation; the horsepower and top-speed figures were not established through real-world testing of a customer car.
You can drive it in the appropriate Gran Turismo titles, including the versions associated with the official Vision Gran Turismo catalogue. You cannot buy one from Dodge, register one for road use, or treat an online die-cast listing as proof that a full-size Tomahawk exists.
