Stellantis has discussed future small and midsize pickups, but its announced Dakota is for Brazil, with a stated 2026 arrival there—not a North American launch date.
Is Ram bringing back the Dakota in North America?
There is no North American Dakota launch confirmed in the official materials cited here. Ram’s U.S. Dakota page describes the historical truck as discontinued after the 2011 model year and says Ram does not currently have a midsize pickup in its lineup.
That page is the clearest guide to Ram’s current U.S. lineup status. It also directs owners seeking support for an existing Dakota to dealer, parts, and service resources; it does not announce a successor. A future product could still be announced, but the sources available do not establish one for North America.
What did Stellantis say about future small and midsize pickups?
At its 2024 Investor Day, Stellantis described plans for two low-cost pickups in the small and midsize segments. The North America transcript says: “We’re preparing to introduce more new entries to the Ram lineup that drive our global growth and will offer two new low cost pickups for the small and mid-sized segments. Most of this volume will come from markets outside the North America.”

What is confirmed about the new Dakota?
Stellantis’ Dakota announcements are specific to Brazil. A 2025 Brazil-market announcement said the new Dakota would arrive in Brazil in 2026. A separate reveal of the Dakota Laramie also described its 2026 arrival in Brazil.

Those releases establish a Brazil-market vehicle and timing. They do not say that the truck will be sold in North America, and the Brazil date should not be treated as a U.S. or Canadian release date.
What is not known about a North American Ram midsize truck?
The cited official sources do not establish any of the following for a North American Ram midsize pickup:
- A confirmed model name or U.S./Canadian availability
- A model year, production date, launch date, or order window
- Price, trim lineup, cab or bed configurations
- Powertrain, fuel economy, payload, or towing rating
- Dealer availability or accessory and parts fitment
Ram’s 2027 Ram 1500 page publishes specifications for that full-size model, including engine choices. Those details belong to the 1500 and cannot be used to infer the equipment or capability of a possible Dakota successor.
What should Dakota owners and shoppers do now?
If you own an older Dakota, use the vehicle’s year and configuration when checking parts or service with a dealer; Ram’s U.S. page directs owners to those resources. If you are shopping for the discontinued truck, look for used-vehicle listings and verify condition, history, and parts availability for the specific vehicle.

Do not buy accessories advertised as fitting a future North American Dakota on the basis of the Brazil announcement. The cited sources do not confirm North American availability or fitment, so compatibility with a prospective U.S. or Canadian truck is unknown.

A global strategy statement, a Brazil-market reveal, and a U.S. product announcement are different kinds of evidence. For a North American buying decision, look for an explicit U.S. or Canadian announcement from Ram or Stellantis that names the market and supplies concrete timing or specifications. Until then, neither the Brazil truck nor the 2024 strategy statement confirms when—or whether—a Ram midsize pickup will reach North America.
