What separates the trims
RST: body-color styling and available appearance choices
Chevrolet describes RST as “Bold and sporty with street-inspired design.” Its listed body-color center grille bar, bumpers and door handles give it a different look from the LT Trail Boss’s raised black hood insert. RST also offers available 20-inch high-gloss black wheels and, depending on configuration, RST Select, Redline and Rally Special Editions. LT Trail Boss: lift and off-road hardware
The LT Trail Boss lists a factory 2-inch suspension lift with the Z71 Off-Road Package, an Autotrac two-speed transfer case and an automatic locking rear differential. Chevrolet also lists a raised black hood insert and 20-inch high-gloss black-painted wheels. These specifications can help you decide whether the factory equipment suits your intended use, but they do not establish comparative trail capability or ride quality. Engines: compare the exact configuration
Chevrolet’s 2026 model-year commercial specifications list the following engine outputs. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Price and towing: use the build, not the trim name
Starting prices are not like-for-like quotes
The displayed starting prices are useful for orienting a comparison, but they do not account for the exact drivetrain, cab, bed, options, destination, incentives or dealer charges. Compare two configured builds and current dealer quotes before deciding what the price gap means for your purchase.
Towing capacity is vehicle-specific
Chevrolet advertises up to 13,300 lb. maximum available towing for the 2026 Silverado lineup. That is a lineup-level maximum, not a towing rating for every RST or LT Trail Boss. The applicable rating depends on the truck’s configuration and equipment; verify it using the exact vehicle’s trailering information before matching it to a trailer. Which trim should you choose?
- Choose RST as your starting point if its body-color details, available black wheels or available appearance editions are more important to you than the factory lift and off-road hardware listed for LT Trail Boss.
- Consider LT Trail Boss if you specifically want the listed 2-inch factory lift, two-speed transfer case and automatic locking rear differential.
- Compare both builds closely if engine choice, towing, work use or highway driving will decide the purchase. Select the cab, bed and drivetrain first, then verify engine availability, equipment, towing rating and final price for each truck.
Chevrolet’s specifications do not establish which trim is more comfortable, reliable, capable on a particular trail or better to tow with in real-world use. Those questions require evidence beyond the equipment list; do not treat the trim names or maximum lineup figures as answers for a specific truck.
