Nissan has not confirmed a new Silvia or announced a Silvia-specific development program. Its executives have expressed interest in sports cars and discussed the Silvia as a possible fit for the future, but the reported comments are exploratory—not confirmation that a revival is underway.
What Nissan’s executives have said about the Silvia
In an interview in Yokohama reported by The Drive on April 14, 2026, Nissan President and CEO Ivan Espinosa was asked whether the Silvia could fit the company’s future plans. His answer was qualified: “…it would, if I could, soon, you know.” He also said, “The sports cars are the core of what we are as a company.”
Two days later, The Drive reported comments from Richard Candler, Nissan’s global product strategy executive: “We are really deeply looking at the sports [car] lineup again. We all want to do some cool cars.” That points to renewed consideration of Nissan’s sports-car range; it does not announce a Silvia project.
Has Nissan approved a new Silvia?
The reported remarks do not establish that Nissan has authorized production, formally begun Silvia-specific development, or committed to bringing the nameplate back. They show executive interest in sports cars and a possible role for the Silvia, while leaving the decision unresolved.

Nissan’s official materials provide strategic context, but no Silvia confirmation. The company’s Re:Nissan recovery plan focuses on recovery, cost reduction, product and market strategy, partnerships, and streamlining. The plan announcement, published May 13, 2025, is available from Nissan News USA.
Nissan’s April 14, 2026 long-term vision describes a 45-model portfolio. That figure is the stated size of the portfolio, not a count of confirmed future launches or sports cars, and the announcement does not identify a Silvia.

What is still unconfirmed
The reviewed reports and official announcements do not specify whether Nissan has approved a Silvia project. They also provide no confirmed details about:
- Body style, platform, or production location
- Powertrain, electrification, or performance
- Price or intended sales markets
- Release date or launch window
Without a formal program or vehicle announcement, claims about a new Silvia’s specifications or arrival date would be speculation.

So, is Nissan bringing back the Silvia?
It is a possibility Nissan executives have discussed, not a confirmed revival. The clearest evidence is their interest in sports cars and Espinosa’s conditional response about the Silvia. Nissan has not announced that the car is approved or in development.
