Mazda’s 2024 plan had named the Mazda 創 Arata concept as the second new electrified model in that collaboration; the EZ-60 was revealed in 2025 and planned for China. The phrase “second EV” depends on which Mazda program and timeframe is meant.
What Mazda announced as its second EV
In an April 23, 2025 speech at Auto Shanghai, Mazda said: “Here comes Mazda’s second new energy vehicle, the MAZDA EZ-60.” The accompanying announcement described the EZ-60 as the second electric vehicle developed and manufactured by Changan Mazda through collaboration between Mazda and Changan Automobile, with a China launch planned for 2025. Mazda’s EZ-60 announcement and the Auto Shanghai speech name no electric CX-30.
Mazda’s May 12, 2026 financial-results commentary likewise described the EZ-6 and EZ-60 as the new electric vehicles developed with Changan that Mazda was focusing on launching successfully in China. Why the earlier “second model” reference can be confusing
In April 2024, Mazda described the EZ-6 as the first in a series of new electrified vehicles developed and manufactured by Changan Mazda. It said the Mazda 創 Arata concept was scheduled to enter mass production as the second new electrified vehicle by the end of 2025, for introduction in China. Mazda’s April 2024 announcement

The 2025 EZ-60 reveal subsequently supplied the production-model name for Mazda’s second Changan-developed EV. These announcements refer to a collaboration sequence and use terms such as “electrified” and “electric vehicle” in their respective contexts; neither identifies the model as a CX-30.
Is the CX-30 the same vehicle as the MX-30?
No. Mazda’s 2025 integrated report lists CX-30 and MX-30 as separate product lines, with market listings dated March 31, 2025. The report does not establish current dealer availability in any particular country, and its sales figures do not turn the CX-30 into an electric model. For FY March 2025, Mazda reported global sales of 230,434 CX-30 units and 8,938 MX-30 units; these are total model sales, not EV sales. Mazda’s 2025 integrated report

How the broader EV roadmap fits
Mazda’s March 18, 2025 roadmap placed a “2ND Cross-over SUV” in the 2025–2027 phase of the Changan collaboration. It separately showed a battery EV in a dedicated EV-platform track. Roadmap categories and planned timing do not prove that a model has launched or is available to buy in every market, and the roadmap does not call the crossover an electric CX-30. What to take from the “second EV” wording
- For the Changan collaboration: Mazda identified the EZ-60 as its second electric vehicle developed and manufactured with Changan Mazda.
- For the earlier 2024 plan: Mazda described the Arata concept as the planned second new electrified vehicle in that collaboration, intended for China.
- For Mazda’s global lineup: the reviewed announcements do not establish a current electric CX-30 or support calling it Mazda’s second EV worldwide.
