The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is a five-passenger, two-row midsize SUV offered with a turbocharged inline-six or a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Its appeal is a premium-leaning cabin and standard all-wheel drive; the trade-offs to weigh are firm ride comfort, limited cabin storage, and an infotainment system that Edmunds reviewers found cumbersome. Mazda’s published starting prices predate an announced May 2026 increase, so they are not a verified current quote.
What is the 2026 Mazda CX-70?
The CX-70 is a two-row SUV for up to five people. Mazda lists 39.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 75.3 cubic feet with that row folded. Turbo models measure 201.6 inches long and have a 122.8-inch wheelbase, according to Mazda’s 2026 specification deck.
Every version has Mazda i-Activ all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The lineup includes five gasoline Turbo grades and two plug-in hybrid grades, with different trim structures for the two powertrains.
How much does the 2026 Mazda CX-70 cost?
Mazda North American Operations’ October 7, 2025 announcement listed the following starting MSRPs. These figures were announced before a $200–$500 increase effective May 4, 2026, and exclude destination and handling, taxes, title, and other fees. They should not be treated as confirmed post-increase prices or dealer quotes.

What are the CX-70 powertrain and fuel-economy specs?
Mazda’s figures distinguish the standard Turbo from the higher-output Turbo S and the plug-in hybrid. Fuel economy and electric range are EPA estimates, not a guarantee of individual results.

The standard Turbo uses regular fuel and is the lower-output gasoline choice. Turbo S adds power but Mazda specifies premium fuel. The PHEV’s 30-mile electric-range estimate is most relevant to buyers who can charge regularly and whose daily driving can make use of that range.
Which CX-70 trim should you consider?
Turbo Preferred
Mazda says the 2026 Turbo Preferred adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, USB-C ports, and a power liftgate.

Turbo Premium and Turbo Premium Plus
The Turbo Premium adds towing mode, a digital driver display, Bose audio, online navigation, and additional driver-assistance features. Premium Plus adds Nappa leather, adaptive front lighting, a 360-degree view monitor, and further safety and convenience equipment.
Turbo S Premium and Turbo S Premium Plus
Both Turbo S grades use the 340-hp engine. Mazda lists Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and additional safety and driver-display features among the higher-grade equipment. The S Premium Plus adds tan quilted Nappa leather and a 150-watt cargo outlet.

PHEV SC and PHEV SC Plus
The PHEV grades have their own equipment ladder rather than matching the gasoline Turbo trims. Mazda says the SC Plus adds leather seating, power passenger-seat adjustment, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and front and rear parking sensors. Consult Mazda’s current trim chart to confirm which items are standard on the exact grade and model-year vehicle you are considering.

Edmunds, in a review excerpt carried by the Associated Press, characterizes the CX-70 as sporty and oriented toward on-road driving, with stable, precise cornering and an upscale-feeling cabin. The same assessment calls the ride and seats firm. Those are the reviewer’s impressions, not a firsthand road test for this article; shoppers sensitive to a firm ride should evaluate the SUV on roads similar to their usual routes.

How much can the CX-70 tow?
Mazda lists a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds for the Turbo Premium when equipped with Mazda Genuine Towing Accessories. The release also specifies 5,000 pounds for Turbo S models with the required accessories. This maximum is not established for every trim or configuration. Confirm the exact vehicle’s equipment and limits in its owner’s manual before towing.
What are the CX-70’s cabin, infotainment, and safety considerations?
The CX-70’s five-seat layout and published cargo figures suit buyers who need two rows rather than a third row. Edmunds’ AP-carried review excerpt identifies limited in-cabin storage and an infotainment interface that may feel cumbersome and distracting. Drivers should try the controls and check whether the available storage works for their everyday items.
Mazda lists i-Activsense features including Smart Brake Support, blind-spot monitoring, radar cruise control, lane-keeping and lane-departure functions, and cross-traffic alerts; equipment varies by trim. These feature lists are not crash-test ratings. A current 2026 CX-70 IIHS or NHTSA score was not verified here, so consult the agencies’ vehicle pages for ratings rather than inferring a result from the equipment list.
