No—not as a current or announced consumer pickup. Mack Trucks’ North American lineup is made up of commercial vehicles such as highway tractors, vocational trucks, refuse trucks and medium-duty models. It does not include a half-ton, midsize or full-size pickup for retail buyers.
What started the Mack pickup rumor?
Images and videos described online as a “2025 Mack pickup truck” circulated widely, but they did not come from Mack Trucks. The images were unofficial concept material, including AI-generated artwork, rather than photographs or factory renderings of a production vehicle.

Several details in the images also pointed away from an authentic Mack product. Observers noted backward lettering, exaggerated styling, unnaturally glossy surfaces and artificial-looking backgrounds. Those clues are especially important with supposed vehicle “reveals” shared through social media, where a convincing render can be mistaken for an official announcement.

What trucks does Mack currently sell?
Mack’s North American lineup is aimed at commercial operators rather than typical pickup buyers. Its current models include:
| Model or family | Primary role | Consumer pickup? |
|---|---|---|
| Granite | Vocational and construction work | No |
| Keystone | Commercial truck applications | No |
| Anthem | Highway hauling | No |
| LR and LR Electric | Refuse and related urban work | No |
| MD and MD Electric | Medium-duty delivery and vocational work | No |
| Pioneer | Long-haul trucking | No |
| TerraPro | Vocational and severe-duty applications | No |
These are substantially different from vehicles such as the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ram 1500 or Toyota Tundra. Mack builds trucks for fleets, contractors, municipalities and professional drivers, generally with commercial chassis, heavy-duty powertrains and body configurations selected for a specific job.

Is the Mack MD a pickup truck?
No. The Mack MD is a medium-duty commercial truck. Mack markets it for jobs such as local delivery, box-truck work and service applications, along with refuse and other vocational uses.
It can be configured with different bodies, and some versions may perform work that a pickup owner would associate with hauling or service calls. But the MD is not a consumer pickup with a conventional open bed, light-duty suspension and personal-use positioning. It belongs to a heavier commercial class.
Mack’s use of the phrase pickup and delivery can also cause confusion. In that context, “pickup” means collecting freight before delivering it. It describes the truck’s duty cycle, not its body style.

Did Mack ever build a pickup?
Yes, but the historical answer is different from the current one.
Mack produced the Model ED, a three-quarter-ton pickup, from 1938 through 1944. According to Cars.com’s history of the truck, Mack built 2,686 Model ED trucks. It was the lightest truck the company had produced at the time.
Mack dealers also sold the Mack Jr. from 1936 to 1938. Those trucks were built by Reo and sold under the Mack name, with capacities ranging from one-half ton to two and a half tons. They are part of Mack’s early light-truck history, although the Model ED was Mack’s own pickup production.

So both of the following statements can be true:
- Mack made a pickup truck in the past.
- Mack is not currently making a consumer pickup truck.
How to check whether a rumored Mack pickup is real
- Check Mack’s official truck lineup. A production model should appear on Mack’s product page, normally with specifications, applications and configuration information.
- Search Mack’s newsroom. A new vehicle would typically be supported by an official announcement, not just social-media images or a YouTube thumbnail.
- Look for commercial details. Genuine Mack announcements identify the truck’s intended class, engine or electric system, cab configuration, production timing and market availability.
- Inspect the image itself. Backward badges, misspelled text, inconsistent logos, impossible reflections and overly polished backgrounds are common warning signs of generated or unofficial artwork.
- Separate a concept from a product. Even an accurate-looking independent rendering does not establish that Mack has approved, engineered or plans to sell the vehicle.
Could Mack make a pickup in the future?
There is no confirmed plan to do so. Mack’s current business is centered on commercial trucking, and its announced development work remains focused on highway, vocational, refuse and medium-duty applications.
A future pickup would require more than adapting a Mack badge to a truck-shaped concept. Mack would need a suitable light-duty platform, manufacturing and dealer support, regulatory certification, a powertrain strategy and a retail sales plan. None of those elements has been announced for a consumer pickup.
