Those statements confirm the program and the intended plan, but not a specific Z test session on October 8, 2026, a completed record attempt, or a published lap time.
What BYD and DENZA have confirmed
In an interview published July 16, 2026, BYD representative José Miranda said DENZA’s Nürburgring testing began in October 2025. The initial program ran from October to November 2025, with further testing planned from April through October 2026, according to the Nürburgring interview.
Separately, DENZA’s July 9, 2026 Z launch announcement said the Z Special Edition would undergo additional development assessment before planned Nordschleife lap-record attempts “in the autumn.” The release announces an intention; it does not report that an attempt has taken place or give a lap time. The DENZA launch announcement does not identify a particular Z session on October 8.
Why use the Nürburgring for development?
BYD describes Nordschleife work as whole-vehicle validation rather than simply chasing peak speed. Miranda said its engineers use the circuit to evaluate vehicle dynamics, braking, thermal management, chassis behavior, stability, durability and overall vehicle confidence in demanding conditions. That explanation describes BYD’s stated purpose for the testing program; it is not independent proof of how the Z performs.

What is the DENZA Z?
DENZA has announced Coupe, Spider and Racing versions, as well as a Special Edition intended for the Nürburgring development and lap-record program. These are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, not independent test results.

DENZA lists a three-motor system with 1,604 PS and 1,240 Nm combined maximum output, plus a 76 kWh second-generation Blade Battery. It claims FLASH Charging can take the battery from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. The Racing version’s stated top speed is 217 mph in the configuration with optional semi-slick tyres. All figures are from DENZA’s July 2026 announcement; they should not be read as independently verified results.

UK prices and timing announced in 2026
DENZA UK announced recommended prices of £142,900 for the Coupe, £159,900 for the Spider and £172,900 for the Racing. In the same announcement, the company said UK orders would open with the first retailer sites in late summer and handovers were expected in late 2026. These were announced plans, not confirmation that orders or handovers subsequently began on schedule. See the DENZA UK pricing announcement for the dated details.
