When did BYD launch the YANGWANG U9, and what did it cost?
BYD announced the standard YANGWANG U9 on February 25, 2024, with a stated price of RMB 1.68 million and a plan for deliveries to begin in summer 2024. Those figures describe the original China launch announcement; they are not confirmation of the car’s current price, order status, or availability elsewhere. BYD’s launch announcement called it the first pure-electric supercar under its YANGWANG premium brand.
What are the standard U9’s published performance figures?
BYD’s 2024 launch release listed four independent motors, 1,300 horsepower and maximum torque of 1,680 N·m. The company quoted 2.36 seconds for 0–100 km/h and a tested top speed of 309.19 km/h. These are manufacturer-published specifications and performance claims; they should not be confused with the later, higher-speed runs by special U9 variants.
How do the U9 Track Edition and U9 Xtreme differ?
BYD publicized separate high-performance variants in 2025. The reported speed records below belong to those versions, not the standard U9.

The reported time is a manufacturer claim; independent verification and the record’s present-day status are not established here. BYD’s Nürburgring announcement gives the date, lap time and distance.

The available BYD announcements establish the U9’s identity, launch figures and later variant records, but they do not establish a direct Porsche rival or a model-to-model comparison. Calling the U9 a Porsche rival would require a specified Porsche model and a clear basis for comparison, such as price, performance, use case or market availability. The 2024 price and delivery plan are China launch details, and BYD’s later statement that the standard U9 was on sale in China does not establish overseas retail availability.
