It is not confirmed that BBS is back in business. Trade coverage reported that BBS Autotechnik GmbH filed for insolvency in September 2023 and that an ISH Holding subsidiary took it over in December. The same coverage said a dispute over brand rights hindered aftermarket rim distribution, but it did not establish whether the dispute was resolved or whether BBS is currently producing or selling wheels.
What happened to BBS Autotechnik?
Tyrepress coverage republished on LinkedIn, referring to reporting by Reifenpresse.de, says BBS Autotechnik GmbH filed for insolvency in September 2023. It reports that an ISH Holding subsidiary took over the company in December. The excerpt does not specify the year of that December takeover, so it should not be inferred from the wording alone.

The coverage says disagreement over brand rights hindered distribution of BBS aftermarket rims. That is a report about the dispute and its effect on distribution at the time—not confirmation that the disagreement was later settled.
Does the takeover mean BBS wheels are available again?
No current availability is established by the available coverage. It does not confirm the status of production or sales, where BBS wheels can be bought, or whether the brand-rights dispute has been resolved. The reported takeover by itself does not establish that consumers can order BBS rims now.

During coverage of the dispute, works council representative Martin Brohammer was quoted as saying, “BBS wheels will continue to be produced only in Schiltach.” This is an attributed statement from that period, not evidence of current production.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you check before buying BBS wheels?
Because current stock and sales were not confirmed, verify availability with the seller before planning a purchase. Check the exact wheel’s fitment against your vehicle—not just the brand name—including the specifications required for your make, model, and year. The coverage does not establish a current BBS model range or confirm fitment for any particular car.
