Fuel economy in the real world
evo reported 23.2 mpg combined for the W213 on the UK WLTP test cycle. That number is not a U.S. EPA rating, does not cover every E 63 generation or body style, and cannot guarantee what your car will achieve. Cold weather, short journeys, traffic, tire pressure, speed and frequent use of the performance systems can all change consumption.
For a useful personal estimate, record the miles you expect to drive each month, divide by a conservative consumption assumption from comparable journeys, and price the required fuel locally. Treat the published WLTP result as context for one reviewed W213, not as a promise made by every used E 63.
Recall and VIN checks
Recall status is vehicle-specific and can change when a campaign is completed. NHTSA’s lookup guidance says that searching by license plate or VIN reveals whether a specific vehicle needs repair as part of a recall; year, make and model searches provide general information only.

A 2020 NHTSA filing identifies specified production populations of 2018–2019 E 63 AMG 4MATIC sedans and E 63 S AMG 4MATIC wagons for a turbocharger oil-feed-line issue. That model-year description does not prove that any individual car is affected or unrepaired.
- Obtain the VIN directly from the car and registration documents.
- Run it through NHTSA’s recall lookup.
- Ask Mercedes-Benz or an authorized dealer to confirm campaign applicability and whether the remedy is recorded as complete.
