There is no confirmed announcement in the official Kawasaki material reviewed of a new small-displacement inline-four Ninja beyond the existing ZX-4R family. Kawasaki announced the ZX-4R, ZX-4R SE and ZX-4RR in 2023, and its U.S. specifications list 2026 ZX-4R and ZX-4RR models with 399cc inline-four engines. A separate 2027 Ninja 1100SX announcement is real, but it concerns a much larger sports-tourer—not a new ZX-4R-class bike.
Which inline-four Ninja is already on sale?
The likely model behind talk of a small-displacement inline-four Ninja is the Ninja ZX-4R family. Kawasaki announced the ZX-4R, ZX-4R SE and ZX-4RR on February 2, 2023, describing a newly designed engine and frame and an inline-four in the 400cc class. The company said the models would be introduced in various countries beginning that month. Kawasaki’s 2023 announcement establishes the family’s launch; it does not announce a new future model.
What do the 2026 U.S. specifications say?
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., lists a 399cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, 16-valve inline-four for both 2026 U.S. models. Its specification sheets list these MSRPs:

Published power figures depend on the source
Kawasaki’s U.S. 2026 product sheets report 56.0 hp at 11,500 rpm. A Kawasaki Heavy Industries technical magazine reports 57 kW at 14,500 rpm for the ZX-4R. Those are figures from different official documents and specification contexts, so they should be attributed as published rather than treated as directly interchangeable or silently reconciled. Has Kawasaki confirmed another small inline-four Ninja?
The official Kawasaki material reviewed does not confirm a distinct future small-displacement inline-four Ninja beyond the ZX-4R family. Kawasaki’s U.S. motorcycle press-release index includes continuing model-year announcements, including 2027 products, but the relevant entries do not establish a fresh ZX-4R-family launch. That is a limit on what these official sources confirm, not proof that no announcement exists elsewhere. Treat claims about a new ZX-4R-class model as unconfirmed unless Kawasaki announces one.

What is the 2027 Ninja 1100SX announcement?
Kawasaki Motors Europe announced 2027 Ninja 1100SX and 1100SX SE variants on August 24, 2026. The announcement describes a 1,099cc inline-four in a sports-tourer—a separate, larger model family, not evidence of a new small-displacement Ninja.
