A roughly $50,000 Mercedes-AMG GT sounds like a bargain against the car’s original six-figure pricing—but the available valuations do not show that $50,000 is the typical price of a two-door coupe. Kelley Blue Book’s current resale estimates are $59,000 for a 2017 AMG GT and $61,600 for a 2016. Edmunds’ much wider 2017 estimate range reaches $53,285 at the top and $29,934 at the bottom, underscoring how much a particular car’s condition, mileage and options matter.
Is a $50,000 AMG GT a real bargain?
It can be, if the specific car is sound and priced appropriately—but the available valuation figures do not establish $50,000 as the normal price for a two-door AMG GT coupe. Kelley Blue Book’s current resale estimates, accessed in 2026, are $59,000 for a 2017 AMG GT and $61,600 for a 2016 AMG GT. KBB notes that actual value varies with condition and other market factors.
Edmunds gives a wider $29,934–$53,285 estimated value range for a used 2017 AMG GT, based on condition, mileage and options. That range makes a figure near $50,000 plausible within one publisher’s estimates, but it is not a verified live listing or a fair-price appraisal for any specific car. The KBB and Edmunds figures are different publishers’ estimates, not interchangeable market prices.
Check the body style before comparing prices
A price around $50,000 can also refer to a different vehicle wearing the AMG GT name. Kelley Blue Book lists a $51,500 starting dealer price for the 2019 AMG GT 53 Sedan 4D. That is a four-door sedan, not the two-door AMG GT coupe, so it does not show that a coupe is generally available at that price.

When comparing an asking price or valuation, match the model year, trim and body style first. Also account for mileage, condition, options, geography, title history, service documentation and the difference between a seller’s asking price and the amount a buyer ultimately pays.
What the original price bought
The bargain argument is strongest when comparing a used example with the original price and performance of the same trim. Car and Driver lists the 2017 base AMG GT coupe at a $112,195 MSRP, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 456 hp and 443 lb-ft. The publication also lists rear-wheel drive and an 18 mpg combined EPA rating for that model year.

Do not apply those base-coupe figures to every AMG GT. Car and Driver lists the distinct 2016 AMG GT S at $130,825 MSRP, 503 hp and 479 lb-ft. The S is a more powerful trim, not the 2017 base coupe. A used GT’s value depends in part on which version is actually for sale.
