Xiaomi’s SU7 factory came into public view on March 19, 2024, nine days before the car’s official launch in Beijing. The company later published a video showing its own presentation of the plant, with a focus on automation. Xiaomi described automation in key processes—not every operation across the factory—and its environmental figures were company-reported claims rather than independently verified measurements.
What was revealed, and when
The factory reveal was part of the run-up to Xiaomi’s first electric car. On March 19, 2024, CnEVPost reported the factory’s public appearance and covered founder Lei Jun’s account of a board visit and test drive. Xiaomi held the SU7’s official launch in Beijing on March 28, according to the Beijing government’s launch report. On April 25, Xiaomi published its own factory video, offering the company’s view of how the SU7 was being made.
The word “massive” is a description of the factory’s impression, not a verified measurement. The available sources do not establish the plant’s floor area or its current production capacity. Nor do they provide a complete, independently confirmed, line-by-line account of the manufacturing process.
What Xiaomi showed about production
In its April 25, 2024 factory video, Xiaomi presented automation as a defining feature of SU7 production. Its 2024 interim-results disclosure described “100% automation of key processes” using self-developed equipment. That qualification is important: Xiaomi’s wording refers to key processes, and does not establish that every operation in the plant is automated.

The video and company disclosures are useful for understanding how Xiaomi wanted to present its manufacturing approach. They should not be read as a full technical audit of the facility or as independent verification of the company’s claims.
Environmental figures Xiaomi reported
In launch-period communications, Xiaomi said the factory’s solar roof generated 16.4 million kWh of clean energy annually and reported 99% exhaust-gas-treatment efficiency. Those figures are Xiaomi’s claims; the sources cited here do not provide independent measurement or verification.

How the production ramp unfolded
The factory’s operating schedule and delivery reports provide dated context for the early ramp, but they are not a measure of its current capacity.

The technology context behind Xiaomi’s first car
Xiaomi’s December 2023 annual-results materials grouped its automotive technology work into five areas: e-motor, battery, die-casting, smart cabin, and autonomous driving. Those categories describe Xiaomi’s stated technology focus before launch; they are not a detailed inventory of equipment or processes at the factory.
Likewise, a secondary industry article has reported a pace of one car every 76 seconds, but that figure is not independently established by the official sources cited here. It should not be treated as a verified line rate or factory-wide production measure.
