That is 76.4% of the full-year sales JMK reported for FY2026. The figure is for H1—not a completed FY2027 total—and should not be read as an all-category count of electric two-wheelers.
What the 11.16-lakh figure measures
JMK Research & Analytics reported 11.16 lakh high-speed electric two-wheeler sales in H1 FY2027, equivalent to 76.4% of its FY2026 annual sales figure. JMK’s analysis references VAHAN data. Because the reported figure is limited to high-speed E2Ws, it should not be silently treated as a count of every low- and high-speed electric two-wheeler. JMK Research & Analytics

JMK put E2W penetration at 10% in H1 FY2027, compared with 6.6% for FY2026. ICRA reported a 9.3% penetration rate for the first five months of FY2027, compared with 6.5% in FY2026. Those estimates point in the same broad direction, but they cover different periods: JMK’s first half and ICRA’s first five months. Earlier registration totals provide context, not a like-for-like comparison
SIAM reported 11.5 lakh electric two-wheeler registrations in FY2024-25, up 21.2% from the preceding year, based on its analysis of VAHAN data. That is a full-fiscal-year registration figure from an earlier period, whereas JMK’s 11.16 lakh is a first-half FY2027 figure for high-speed E2Ws. Why reported E2W figures may differ
- Measurement window: H1, the first five months, a full fiscal year and a calendar year are different reporting periods.
- Vehicle coverage: JMK’s headline figure is explicitly for high-speed E2Ws; other reports may describe a broader electric two-wheeler category.
- Metric: Unit counts measure sales or registrations, while penetration is a percentage. These are not interchangeable.
- Data treatment: The cited summaries do not fully reconcile low-speed vehicle inclusion, registration cutoff dates or every processing definition. Comparisons should retain each publisher’s scope and timeframe.
Forecasts are not observed FY2027 sales
NITI Aayog’s earlier electric two-wheeler projections use multiple scenarios with differing assumptions about constraints, battery costs, production and incentives. One scenario excerpt projected 11.6 lakh sales in FY2024 and 7.8 lakh in FY2031, while other scenarios were substantially higher.
