Hyundai sold 23,164 Tucsons in the United States in September 2026, up 32% from 17,569 a year earlier. The increase came as the automaker unveiled the all-new 2027 Tucson on October 1—but a reveal is not the same as a confirmed U.S. showroom launch.
What does the 32% increase measure?
The figure is a year-over-year comparison of U.S. Tucson sales for one month: 23,164 in September 2026 versus 17,569 in September 2025. Hyundai Motor America reported the figures in its September 2026 sales release. They are U.S. sales, not global deliveries.
The gain was not limited to September. Hyundai reported 64,075 U.S. Tucson sales in Q3 2026, up from 51,929 in Q3 2025, a 23% increase. Through September, year-to-date sales were 181,687, compared with 165,239 over the same period of 2025, up 10%.

Why did Tucson sales jump?
Hyundai’s release establishes the increase, but does not identify its cause. It provides no Tucson-specific breakdown for incentives, inventory, fleet mix, dealer supply or powertrain mix, so the figures alone cannot show what prompted more buyers to choose the SUV.
Hyundai said total U.S. sales across the brand reached 77,439 in September, up 9% year over year. Brand-wide hybrid sales rose 39% and accounted for 28% of September volume. Those numbers are not a Tucson-specific hybrid breakdown and do not establish that hybrid demand caused the Tucson increase.

Hyundai Motor North America President and CEO Randy Parker described the brand’s results as being “supported by growth across our SUV, sedan and hybrid lineups.” That statement concerns Hyundai’s overall performance, not a specific explanation for the Tucson’s sales change.
Has the new Tucson gone on sale in the United States?
Hyundai’s newsroom listed a world premiere for the all-new 2027 Tucson on October 1, 2026. Separately, Hyundai had said the new Tucson and Tucson Hybrid would launch in initial markets in Q4 2026. These are different milestones: the available timing confirms a reveal and a planned launch window in initial markets, not that the 2027 model was available to U.S. retail buyers by October 3. The outgoing Tucson is the fourth generation, introduced for model year 2021, according to Carscoops; Hyundai’s official material confirms the 2026 model and planned replacement timing. Calling it “six-year-old” refers to the model-year cycle, not a claim that every market received that generation at the same time.

- They do not show: why sales rose, how many of the vehicles were hybrids, or whether the new model was already on sale to U.S. retail customers.
For owners shopping for accessories such as floor mats, Hyundai lists mats among Tucson accessories. Fitment still needs to be checked for the specific model year, trim and powertrain; a general catalog listing does not confirm that a particular item fits every Tucson.
