What cars are made at the Hyundai Metaplant?
Hyundai names the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 in its U.S. production mix. The announced plant program covers electric and hybrid vehicles for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis. The company’s model list does not establish that every vehicle is being built at full production rate; published current model-by-model volumes are not stated in the cited announcements.

How many vehicles can the plant produce?
Hyundai announced capacity of up to 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles annually in 2025. The University of Georgia’s 2026 snapshot describes the same figure as expected capacity. It is the plant’s planned maximum, not evidence that it currently produces 500,000 vehicles per year.

The project’s plans have grown over time. Hyundai’s 2022 groundbreaking announcement described an initial investment of about $5.54 billion and a planned annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles. Its later figures reflect expanded plans and broader investment scopes, so the earlier capacity should be read as a historical baseline rather than a current output figure.

What do the investment and jobs figures include?
Published totals use different scopes and should not be added together or treated as interchangeable. Hyundai’s 2025 opening release associated $12.6 billion in Georgia investment with HMGMA and joint battery ventures involving LG Energy Solution and SK On. The Georgia Department of Economic Development lists a $7.59 billion estimated project investment for HMGMA and a target of at least 8,500 on-site jobs. The state figures are project estimates and goals, not a verified current headcount.

The figures come from the Hyundai opening release and the Georgia project page; their scopes differ. Hyundai also announced a separate $21 billion group-wide U.S. investment plan for 2025–2028, which is not an HMGMA-only investment total. The company said that broader plan would expand U.S. vehicle production and localize parts, including EV components.

How does the Metaplant fit into Georgia’s EV supply chain?
The plant is one part of a larger effort to locate vehicle assembly, battery ventures and supplier activity in Georgia. Hyundai’s supplier figures describe announcements spread across 12 counties, while its broader U.S. plan addresses parts localization, logistics and supply chains. Those announcements show the intended reach of the project; they do not establish the final realized supplier investment or current employment across the network.
What has Hyundai said about the site’s energy features?
Hyundai said the site’s front parking area would include solar generation rated at 5.2 megawatts, estimated by the company to supply roughly five percent of the Metaplant’s total power consumption. This is an announced design estimate, not a measured current share or an independently verified emissions reduction.
