The choice is straightforward if you separate the two decisions. Choose the Creta SX Premium when you want the 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine with a six-speed manual, 17-inch wheels and a lower purchase outlay. Choose the Creta King Knight Edition when you specifically want Hyundai’s IVT automatic, its all-black appearance and selected equipment changes, and you accept the higher price and 18-inch tyre fitment.
This comparison uses Hyundai’s Indian-market names. The petrol automatic is officially called an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission), not a conventional stepped automatic. “CVT” in the search-style title is a generic description of the transmission type; Hyundai’s own specification and brochure use IVT.

Creta SX Premium manual vs King Knight IVT: the short answer
Both vehicles use the same 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine family, but they target different buyers. The SX Premium pairs that engine with a six-speed manual transmission. The King Knight Edition pairs it with Hyundai’s IVT, a continuously variable automatic transmission, and adds a dark exterior theme with brass-coloured interior detailing, black alloys, red brake calipers and matte-black Hyundai and CRETA emblems.
On Hyundai Motor India’s Bengaluru price list for October 2026, the King Knight’s automatic and edition treatment carry a listed ex-showroom premium over the SX Premium manual. That premium is not payment for a more powerful engine: the fundamental engine choice remains the 1.5 MPi petrol. Your decision is therefore mainly about transmission convenience, styling, wheel and tyre ownership, and how much value you place on the King Knight’s listed equipment.

Transmission: six-speed manual versus Hyundai IVT
What the SX Premium manual gives you
The SX Premium uses a six-speed manual gearbox. You select each ratio yourself and operate the clutch, so the driver controls gear choice directly. That can suit buyers who enjoy a more involved driving experience, want a familiar three-pedal layout or prefer to avoid the purchase and specification change associated with the automatic version.
A manual also requires you to consider your normal traffic pattern honestly. Repeated clutch operation in long, slow queues is part of the ownership experience. If several people will drive the car, make sure everyone is comfortable with a manual before signing the order sheet.
What Hyundai means by IVT
Hyundai’s specification page describes the petrol transmission choices as a six-speed manual or IVT, and the brochure expands IVT as Intelligent Variable Transmission. An IVT is a continuously variable automatic design rather than a conventional stepped automatic. It does not make the Creta a turbo-petrol dual-clutch model, and this comparison should not be read as one.

The practical advantage is two-pedal operation: select the required drive mode and the transmission varies its ratio without clutch-pedal work. That is relevant if the car spends substantial time in urban stop-and-go traffic or if more than one driver needs an easy automatic. No independent acceleration, fuel-economy or long-term reliability winner is established for these exact configurations, so those claims should not be inferred from the transmission names alone.
How to choose between them
- Select the manual if direct ratio control and a lower Bengaluru listed price matter more than clutch-free driving.
- Select the IVT if automatic convenience is a requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
- Do not pay the King Knight premium expecting extra engine output; both named configurations use the 1.5 MPi petrol engine.
- Arrange a drive in the exact transmission before ordering if you are uncertain about pedal effort, response or the feel of a variable transmission. No independent road test of these exact two configurations is cited here.
Equipment and styling: what the King Knight adds, and what it does not
Features listed for both trims
Hyundai’s feature matrix lists a voice-enabled smart panoramic sunroof for both SX Premium and King Knight. Both also receive a 10.25-inch infotainment and navigation system and Bose eight-speaker audio. These shared items mean the King Knight is not a wholesale equipment upgrade over SX Premium; much of the cabin technology is already present in the manual trim.
SX Premium’s equipment character
The SX Premium listing specifies leatherette upholstery and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Its appearance is comparatively conventional, which may appeal if you want the equipment of a higher Creta trim without a special-edition exterior treatment. The 17-inch wheel and tyre combination also gives you a different replacement-cost and sidewall decision from the King Knight’s 18-inch setup.

Hyundai describes King Knight as an all-black style edition. The published description includes brass-coloured interior inserts, black alloys with red calipers, and matte-black Hyundai and CRETA emblems. The feature matrix also lists front ventilated seats and 18-inch matte-black alloys.

Those changes make the King Knight a styling-led edition with selected equipment differences. They do not establish a mechanical performance change. The black trim, emblems and red calipers should be treated as appearance and specification details, not evidence of a different engine tune, suspension calibration or braking test result.
Confirm the actual build before paying
Hyundai Motor India Limited states on its official feature page: “Hyundai Motor India reserves the right to change specifications and equipment without prior notice.” Ask the dealer to print the exact variant, transmission, wheel design, seat specification and included equipment on the order form. A website or brochure description is useful for comparison, but the vehicle allocated to you is the document that matters at delivery.
Wheel and tyre fitment is a real ownership difference
SX Premium: 215/60 R17
The brochure lists 215/60 R17 tyres for SX Premium. The first number is the nominal section width in millimetres, 60 is the sidewall profile expressed as a percentage of that width, and R17 indicates a radial tyre designed for a 17-inch wheel. Use the size printed on the vehicle placard and the handbook when replacing a tyre.

King and King Knight are listed with 215/55 R18 tyres. The width remains 215, but the lower 55 profile is paired with an 18-inch wheel. That is not the same fitment as 215/60 R17. The two sizes are not interchangeable simply because both begin with 215.

Why the distinction matters
- Replacement tyres must match the vehicle’s specified size, load rating and speed rating.
- An 18-inch tyre and wheel can have a different purchase price from a 17-inch replacement, but no verified price comparison is available here.
- Changing diameter or profile can affect clearance, speedometer accuracy, handling and insurance or warranty questions.
- Never order 215/55 R18 for an SX Premium, or 215/60 R17 for a King Knight, without a manufacturer-approved wheel and tyre specification.
Before purchasing, read the tyre placard on the actual car, check the load and speed ratings, and confirm the exact model year with a tyre professional or Hyundai dealer. The brochure establishes the listed fitments; it does not authorize arbitrary swaps.

Hyundai Motor India Limited lists the SX Premium 1.5 MPi Petrol MT at ₹16,34,200 ex-showroom in Bengaluru and the King Knight Edition 1.5 MPi Petrol IVT at ₹18,83,300 ex-showroom for October 2026. Subtracting the former from the latter gives a listed difference of ₹2,49,100.
That calculation is useful for comparing the two configurations, but it is not a quotation for your driveway. Bengaluru registration and road-tax rules, insurance selection, optional accessories, finance charges, dealer fees and temporary promotions can all change the on-road figure. A buyer in another city should request both variants on the same date and compare like-for-like insurance and accessory lines rather than applying the Bengaluru difference nationally.
What the price premium is buying
The additional amount buys the IVT transmission and the King Knight package of dark exterior details, brass-coloured interior inserts, front ventilated seats as listed, 18-inch matte-black alloys and the associated 18-inch tyre fitment. It does not buy a different engine displacement or a verified performance upgrade. The SX Premium already lists the panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch infotainment/navigation system and Bose audio, so those items should not be counted as exclusive King Knight benefits.

A simple quote-checking method
- Request written ex-showroom prices for the exact two variants in your city on the same day.
- Ask the dealer to show registration, insurance, accessories, handling or documentation charges and taxes as separate lines.
- Remove unwanted accessories from both quotes before comparing.
- Check whether an offer is a one-time promotion, a finance-linked benefit or a recurring reduction.
- Confirm the VIN, model year, transmission and wheel size on the final order and delivery documents.
Which buyer should choose which Creta?
Choose SX Premium when these priorities dominate
- You specifically want a manual gearbox and are comfortable using a clutch.
- You want the lower listed Bengaluru purchase price of the two configurations.
- You prefer 17-inch diamond-cut alloys and the 215/60 R17 replacement fitment.
- You value the shared sunroof, infotainment and Bose audio without needing King Knight’s dark design.
- You would rather spend the difference on registration, insurance or an emergency ownership reserve than on an automatic and special-edition trim.
Choose King Knight when these priorities dominate
- Two-pedal driving is essential for your daily use or for the people who will share the car.
- You want the all-black exterior, matte-black badges, black alloys and red-caliper visual treatment.
- Front ventilated seats, as listed by Hyundai for this edition, are important to you.
- You accept the 18-inch 215/55 R18 fitment and will budget for the correct replacement tyres.
- You are comfortable paying the listed premium for the IVT and edition styling rather than expecting more engine performance.
When neither should be selected yet
Pause the purchase if the dealer cannot identify the transmission or wheel size on the order sheet, if the quoted vehicle does not match the brochure description, or if you have not driven an IVT and are unsure whether its operating feel suits you. Also pause if the price comparison uses one city’s ex-showroom figure for one car and another city’s on-road figure for the other.
Dealer inspection and delivery checklist
Use this checklist at the quotation stage and again when the car arrives:
- Confirm the full variant name: Creta SX Premium 1.5 MPi Petrol MT or Creta King Knight Edition 1.5 MPi Petrol IVT.
- Verify that the engine and transmission shown on the order form match the vehicle identification and invoice.
- For SX Premium, check the 17-inch diamond-cut alloys and 215/60 R17 tyres.
- For King Knight, check the 18-inch matte-black alloys and 215/55 R18 tyres.
- Inspect the King Knight’s black emblems, black alloy finish, red-caliper treatment and brass-coloured interior inserts.

What this comparison can and cannot establish
The pricing and equipment figures are manufacturer-published Hyundai information rather than independent test results. They establish the listed configuration, equipment and Bengaluru ex-showroom prices for October 2026. They do not establish a real-world mileage winner, acceleration result, ride-comfort ranking, reliability record, resale forecast or maintenance-cost advantage.

Treat any salesperson claim about a mileage or acceleration advantage as a separate claim that requires its own evidence. The safest decision is based on the confirmed transmission, price, equipment, styling and tyre requirements, followed by a drive and a written vehicle-specific quote.
Final buying decision
There is no universal winner. The SX Premium is the rational choice when you want the 1.5 MPi petrol with a manual gearbox, 17-inch wheels and a lower Bengaluru listed price. The King Knight is the rational choice when you are intentionally paying for IVT convenience, the all-black design and its listed additions, and you are prepared for the 18-inch tyre fitment.
Make the decision on the exact car and quotation in front of you. Recheck city pricing and offers, confirm the model-year equipment, and do not treat the King Knight’s styling package as a promise of extra engine performance.
