Hyundai’s October 2026 ex-showroom list puts the S(O) Knight ₹1,25,000 above the EX(O). Both use the same listed 1.5-litre MPI petrol engine and manual gearbox, so the decision is about equipment, appearance, wheel-and-tyre specification and your actual local on-road quote—not extra engine performance.
Creta EX(O) vs S(O) Knight: the differences that matter
These are two manual-petrol versions of the Hyundai Creta with the same core powertrain. The EX(O) is aimed at buyers who want the essentials at a lower entry price. The S(O) Knight is the appearance- and equipment-led alternative: it brings Knight-specific exterior and interior details plus comfort features that the EX(O) does not list.

| Decision area | Creta EX(O) Petrol Manual | Creta S(O) Knight Petrol Manual | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine and transmission | 1.5-litre MPI petrol, manual | 1.5-litre MPI petrol, manual | Same listed powertrain configuration; the trim name does not establish a performance advantage. |
| Hyundai October 2026 ex-showroom list | ₹13,14,200 | ₹14,39,200 | The listed difference is ₹1,25,000 before registration, insurance, taxes, offers and other local charges. |
| Wheel design | 16-inch dual-tone styled steel wheels | 18-inch black alloy wheels | The Knight looks more aggressive; the EX(O) uses the smaller, more conventional fitment. |
| Tyre size | 205/65 R16 | 215/55 R18 | Confirm the size on the tyre placard of the delivered car before buying replacements. |
| Interior treatment | Gray two-tone interior | All-black interior with brass-coloured inserts | Primarily a styling preference, although cabin colour can affect how easily dust and marks show. |
| Air conditioning | Manual AC | Dual-zone automatic temperature control | The Knight offers more convenient temperature management for driver and front passenger. |
| Sunroof | No sunroof mark in Hyundai’s listed feature row | Smart panoramic sunroof | A substantial equipment difference for buyers who specifically want a panoramic roof. |
| Infotainment | 8-inch touchscreen system | 8-inch touchscreen system | Screen size does not distinguish these trims in the listed table. |
In practical terms, choose the EX(O) if you are satisfied with manual climate control, the gray cabin and 16-inch wheels. Choose the S(O) Knight if its sunroof, automatic climate control, black-and-brass cabin and black alloys are worth the locally quoted premium to you.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDo both Creta versions have the same engine and gearbox?
Yes. Hyundai’s feature table identifies both cars as using the 1.5-litre MPI petrol engine with a manual transmission. The brochure specifies a six-speed manual for this 1.5-litre MPI petrol configuration. There is no indication in Hyundai’s listed specifications that the Knight trim has a different engine tune, additional power or a different manual gearbox.

What that means on the road
- Acceleration, engine output and gear-selection characteristics should not be treated as trim-level differentiators on the basis of the names EX(O) and S(O) Knight alone.
- The larger 18-inch wheels and lower-profile tyres on the Knight can alter steering feel, ride response and vulnerability to pothole damage, but there is no instrumented ride or performance comparison for these trims here.
- Take a back-to-back test drive if wheel size, ride comfort or steering weight is important to you. Do not assume the Knight is mechanically faster.
- Ask the salesperson to confirm the engine, transmission and model-year description on the quotation. This prevents a similarly named automatic or diesel variant from being quoted by mistake.
How the exterior and cabin equipment differs
EX(O): understated specification
The EX(O) uses 16-inch dual-tone styled steel wheels and a gray two-tone interior. This combination is visually restrained and keeps the car closer to a conventional Creta appearance. Buyers who prefer a lighter cabin or do not want to pay for appearance-led equipment may find this specification more practical. Styled steel wheels are still a factory wheel design; do not assume the car has the same wheel construction as the Knight’s alloys.
S(O) Knight: black-and-brass theme
The S(O) Knight adds 18-inch black alloy wheels and an all-black cabin with brass-coloured inserts. These are the visible Knight cues; they are not merely a badge change. The darker interior and black wheels create a deliberately sportier look, although whether that is attractive is subjective. Inspect the inserts in daylight and under showroom lighting, because colour perception can change and the delivered car should match the written equipment description.
Panoramic sunroof
Hyundai’s listed feature table marks a smart panoramic sunroof for the S(O) Knight. The EX(O) has no sunroof mark in that row. A panoramic roof can make the cabin feel more open and may be a deciding feature for family use, but it also adds a glass panel, shade mechanism and seals that should be inspected during delivery. Ask the dealer to demonstrate opening, closing, shade operation and anti-pinch behaviour. Check the glass for chips, the seal for uneven seating and the headliner for marks before accepting the vehicle.
Consider your actual use: a sunroof is valuable only if you enjoy the extra light and ventilation. It should not be treated as evidence of better engine performance or a higher safety specification. Ask whether the roof is fully operational from the controls and whether the owner’s documentation explains its operation.
Climate control
The S(O) Knight receives dual-zone automatic temperature control, while the EX(O) uses manual AC. Automatic dual-zone control lets the driver and front passenger select separate temperatures and reduces the need for repeated manual fan and temperature adjustments. If your passengers rarely request different temperatures, the EX(O)’s manual system may be entirely adequate. During the inspection, run the system at different fan speeds, verify that both temperature settings respond and listen for unusual blower noise.
Infotainment and everyday convenience
Both variants are listed with an 8-inch touchscreen system, so the screen size itself is not a reason to choose the Knight. Ask the dealer to identify any software, connectivity or control differences in the current model-year equipment sheet rather than assuming that a higher trim automatically receives a different interface. Test the display in sunlight, the steering controls if fitted to the delivered car, the camera view if listed and the responsiveness of the touch controls.
Likewise, separate the features you will use daily from those you will admire occasionally. Dual-zone climate control can be used on every trip; a panoramic roof may be used only in suitable weather; and black alloys are primarily an appearance choice. This distinction helps you place a realistic value on the ₹1,25,000 listed gap.

Safety equipment: what is shared
Hyundai’s listed feature table shows the same broad safety equipment for both trims. The table includes airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, highline tyre-pressure monitoring, rear disc brakes, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and all-seat belt reminders for each variant.
- Do not describe the S(O) Knight as safer solely because it costs more or has larger wheels.
- Do not describe the EX(O) as missing a safety system unless the written specification for the exact production car says so.
- Safety equipment can change with a production update. Match the vehicle identification details and the dealer’s written specification to the car you are paying for.
- Ask whether any accessory package changes the wheel, tyre or sensor configuration, and ensure the tyre-pressure monitoring system is calibrated for the supplied wheels.
At delivery, check that warning lights extinguish after the engine starts, the tyre-pressure display responds to the fitted wheels, every seat-belt reminder works and the ISOFIX anchor covers are present. These checks verify the delivered vehicle; they do not replace a formal safety rating.
Wheel and tyre sizes: the running-cost decision
| Variant | Wheel supplied | Brochure tyre size | Ownership implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| EX(O) Petrol Manual | 16-inch dual-tone styled steel | 205/65 R16 | More sidewall than the Knight’s tyre and a different replacement market; obtain current local quotes. |
| S(O) Knight Petrol Manual | 18-inch black alloy | 215/55 R18 | Lower-profile appearance and larger diameter; replacement cost and pothole resilience depend on the tyre chosen and local pricing. |
The brochure’s dimensions are evidence of the specified fitment, not a promise that one size is always cheaper. Tyre prices vary by brand, speed rating, load index, availability and city. Before choosing the Knight, ask two or three local tyre dealers for a written price for the exact 215/55 R18 specification. Do the same for 205/65 R16 if you are comparing total ownership cost.
When comparing quotes, request the complete specification rather than a size-only price. A tyre with a different load index, speed rating or construction may not be an equivalent replacement. Include balancing, alignment, valve or sensor-related charges if the dealer quotes them separately. Keep the quotation dated because retail prices and stock can change.
At handover, read the tyre placard on the actual car and compare it with the sidewall markings. Hyundai’s brochure notes that described or illustrated equipment may not be standard in every vehicle and directs buyers to a Hyundai dealer for details. Never order a replacement solely from a trim name or an online listing; verify size, load index, speed rating and approved pressure. The brochure-supported size for the Knight is 215/55 R18, while the EX(O) is 205/65 R16, but the placard on your specific car is the final check.
Price, on-road cost and the real premium
Hyundai Motor India’s page labelled October 2026 lists the manufacturer ex-showroom figures shown below.
| Variant | Manufacturer-listed ex-showroom price (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Creta 1.5 MPI Petrol MT EX(O) | ₹13,14,200 |
| Creta 1.5 MPI Petrol MT S(O) Knight Edition | ₹14,39,200 |
| Listed gap | ₹1,25,000 |
These are not drive-away prices. Registration charges, insurance, state taxes, handling or statutory fees, accessories, dealer discounts and local rules can change the amount you actually pay. Hyundai states that prices vary by variant and location. A buyer in one city can therefore see a different on-road gap from a buyer elsewhere, even when the ex-showroom figures are the same.

How to compare quotations correctly
- Request written quotations for both exact variants, including the manual-petrol description and model year.
- Ask each dealer to separate ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, taxes, optional accessories, extended warranty and other charges.
- Compare the same insurance coverage and insurer; a cheaper quote with lower coverage is not an equivalent saving.
- Record every discount, exchange bonus and finance-linked condition, including its expiry date.
- Calculate the difference between the two final on-road totals, then decide whether the Knight equipment is worth that actual figure rather than the listed ex-showroom gap.
- Check whether a dealer has included accessories or protection packages in only one quotation. Remove optional items before comparing the base cars.
For example, the list arithmetic is straightforward: ₹14,39,200 minus ₹13,14,200 equals ₹1,25,000. Your final premium could be lower or higher after insurance choices, registration, offers and accessories. Treat the list gap as a reference point, not a promise of the amount payable at the dealership.

Regular Knight versus Summer Edition: do not mix the prices
Hyundai separately announced Summer Edition versions. That announcement lists ₹13,13,400 for the EX(O) Summer Edition 1.5-litre MPI petrol manual and ₹14,38,400 for the S(O) Knight Summer Edition 1.5-litre MPI petrol manual. It also describes added equipment including a dashcam for both the S(O) Summer Edition and S(O) Knight Summer Edition.
Those prices and the dashcam reference apply to Summer Edition cars, not automatically to the regular EX(O) and S(O) Knight variants in this comparison. Ensure the quotation and invoice identify the edition you intend to buy. A dealer should be able to show the edition name, equipment list and vehicle identification details in writing. Do not use a Summer Edition price to negotiate a regular car unless the dealer confirms the applicable offer and terms.
Which Creta should you buy?
Choose the EX(O) Petrol Manual when:
- You want the lower manufacturer-listed starting price.
- You do not consider a panoramic sunroof essential.
- Manual AC meets your needs.
- You prefer the gray two-tone cabin over an all-black interior with brass-coloured inserts.
- You would rather run the 16-inch 205/65 R16 specification after checking local tyre prices.
- Your priority is the shared 1.5-litre MPI petrol/manual powertrain and listed safety equipment, not Knight styling.
- You would prefer to keep more cash available for insurance, registration or other ownership expenses.
Choose the S(O) Knight Petrol Manual when:
- You specifically want the smart panoramic sunroof.
- Dual-zone automatic climate control is valuable for your regular passengers.
- You prefer the all-black cabin, brass-coloured inserts and 18-inch black alloys.
- You accept the 215/55 R18 tyre specification after obtaining replacement-tyre quotations.
- Your dealer’s final on-road premium is affordable without compromising your emergency fund or other ownership costs.
- You intend to keep the car long enough to enjoy the factory-fitted appearance and convenience features rather than adding uncertain aftermarket equipment.
When the answer is not obvious
If you like the Knight’s appearance but rarely use a sunroof and do not need dual-zone control, put the price difference toward fuel, insurance or maintenance instead. Conversely, if you would add an aftermarket roof or wheel package to an EX(O), compare the cost, warranty implications and finish quality before assuming the lower trim is cheaper overall. Factory equipment remains the cleaner route when those features are central to your decision, but the value is personal rather than a measured performance gain.
Also consider where you drive. Frequent travel on damaged roads makes a tyre-price and wheel-protection conversation more important, while mostly urban use may make the Knight’s convenience equipment more noticeable. This is a usage-based judgment, not a claim that either trim has a universally better ride.
Inspection checklist before booking and delivery
Before you pay the booking amount
- Confirm the exact written variant: EX(O) Petrol Manual or S(O) Knight Petrol Manual.
- Check whether the car is a regular edition or a Summer Edition.
- Ask for the current feature sheet and confirm the sunroof, climate-control type, wheel design and tyre size.
- Obtain the complete on-road quotation with optional items separated.
- Ask for the manufacturing month and any applicable offer conditions.
- Request the cancellation, refund and delivery-time terms in writing before transferring a booking amount.
During the physical inspection
- Match the wheel and tyre markings to the brochure specification and the vehicle placard.
- Operate the touchscreen, climate controls, rear disc brakes inspection points and all seat-belt reminders.
- On the Knight, cycle the panoramic roof and shade through their full range and listen for abnormal noise.
- Inspect black alloys for transport damage and check that all four tyres have matching size and specification.
- Verify the cabin finish: gray two-tone on the EX(O), or black with brass-coloured inserts on the Knight.
- Check the vehicle identification number on the car against the invoice and insurance proposal.
On the invoice and handover documents
The invoice, insurance policy and registration paperwork should carry the same variant and edition description as your booking form. Retain the dealer’s written equipment list, tyre details and quotation so a later discrepancy can be resolved against a document rather than a verbal promise. Confirm that the spare-wheel, tool-kit and owner-manual information correspond to the delivered vehicle, and keep copies of every signed form.

Is the Creta S(O) Knight faster than the EX(O)?
No trim-based performance advantage is established here. Hyundai lists the same 1.5-litre MPI petrol engine and manual configuration for both. The Knight’s wheel and tyre package may change feel, but it does not establish extra engine power.

Bottom line for this manual-petrol comparison
The Creta EX(O) and S(O) Knight share the listed 1.5-litre MPI petrol engine, six-speed manual configuration and broad safety equipment. The S(O) Knight earns its premium through appearance and convenience equipment: 18-inch black alloys, an all-black-and-brass cabin, a smart panoramic sunroof and dual-zone automatic climate control. Buy the EX(O) when those additions are not worth your local on-road premium; buy the Knight when you will use and appreciate them enough to justify the extra spend, after checking tyre prices and the exact delivered specification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Creta S(O) Knight worth ₹1,25,000 more?
It is worth considering if you specifically want the panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, black alloys and black-and-brass cabin. Compare final on-road quotations and tyre prices first; there is no listed engine-performance advantage.
Which Creta manual has the lower running-cost risk?
The EX(O) uses 205/65 R16 tyres and the Knight uses 215/55 R18. Actual replacement costs depend on brand and local availability, so obtain current quotations rather than assuming one size is always cheaper.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does the Knight Edition include a different touchscreen?
Both variants are listed with an 8-inch touchscreen system. Ask the dealer to confirm any model-year software or connectivity difference in writing.
Can I compare a Summer Edition quote with the regular S(O) Knight?
No. Summer Edition prices and equipment, including the announced dashcam, apply to those separately named cars. Ensure the invoice identifies the exact edition you are buying.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: choose the EX(O) for the lower listed price and shared core powertrain; choose the S(O) Knight for its factory-fitted panoramic roof, dual-zone climate control, black alloys and black-and-brass styling. Let the final local on-road quote and verified tyre costs decide whether the premium works for you.
